Indeed. I'm most surprised.

It's like the online equivalent of standing in the store shouting, but their security guards can't kick you out.

Well complaints to both Carole Nash and AXA who provide their breakdown are now placed. Been promised lots of pressure to get it sorted so we shall see.....

What about buying something like a mk2/3 lwb transit and putting the bike in the back then driving back if they say they can't hire you a van. I will dispose* of the unwanted van for no charge once you return home?

Good luck with the Twitter..

Funnily enough I got as far as ebay with that idea earlier but gave up trying to understand how to insure it to get home.

Oh! Another minor grump. Hooli wins today, mind.

Bought filters from ECP. Got home, started changing air filter and it came out of the box used! Some cheeky bugger had obviously changed their’s, taken the used one back in the new box, claimed it was the wrong one and then ECP just restocked it... no issue with exchange, just an annoying 20-mike round trip...

Would Carole Nash insure it on the chassis number as a curtesy? insurance might even be included in the annual registration fee in foreign climbs?

Years ago i threw a bike up the road in Switzerland [i was battered but okay]. Anyway a kindly swiss biker called my RAC Euro cover who sent a local swiss agent out - from Davos 50km away. The recovery guy came quickly and we got the bike down to his depot. He said, i am on call for 3 hours, so lets fix the bike up so you can ride it home. We lashed my smashed panniers up, straighted the bent bars out with a scaffold tube and sorted the indicators and mirrors. I rode straight home [by fuck did i ache!].

About a month later the RAC sent me a bill for almost £600, apparently the cover did not include RTAs/RTIs and the recovery guy should not have been sent. I sent them a letter saying that i wouldnt be paying and that no county court would want to judge a contractual issue that happened abroad.

They then sent me a letter saying i could never be a member again. One year later i got insurance with RAC cover included. No problems encountered.

European cover is dicey. I been to Bosnia this year and did France this week. Didnt bother with recovery as it just seems to be a cash cow. If it breaks down, i either try to fix myself or use a local agent.

2 years ago i needed a tyre in Italy, not one bike place wanted to do it. Not interested at all ["come back next week" etc]. I rode it back and was on the canvas from Luxembourg to home - was 'interesting' on the flooded motorway east of Kortrijk, to say the very least....

Just discovered a water leak in the bathroom. The house is built on a concrete slab and I noticed water dripping outside at the join between the floor and wall. It turns out to be somewhere behind the built in bath so will almost certainly mean that having to be pulled out to get at the pipework. We are getting the bathroom re-done soon, but this will need to be fixed now.

Finally found a replacement door for the Focus in the correct colour and good condition.

Arrived via courier this morning sporting a couple of bits of impressive* damage that are clearly not on the listing pictures.

Couriers: is it that hard to move something from A to B without damaging it? Apparently, yes.

I appreciate something like this isn't the easiest thing to move around, but this thing was packaged up to the absolute eyeballs. It took me ages to bite through it all, it's clearly had a couple of fairly heavy whacks/drops.

Having a bad day ?

My ramp has packed up with a customers car up in the air.Ramp repair guy seemed very vague don't know if he will turn up so had to cancel 7 mots for today and not booking any in as I might have to cancel tomorrows too.

Bike update. Dealer says about €800 to fix, obviously I said feck off. Now my useless breakdown twats are looking for flights to get me home and probably excuses no to take my bike back to England.

How do they come up with that figure? What's the factory time to change the stator about 2 hrs?

Are your insurers being any more use than a chocolate teapot now?

Posted

Parts prices I bet, the stator was about £350 years ago before the Yen went up. Reg/reg is probably over £100 too.

I'm awaiting them ringing me back about getting myself and the bike home. Will chase yet again them later.

Stupid students on campus.

I saw one cycle past me wearing huge headphones, and he had a helmet dangling from his backpack... He was just about to join a major road, too.

If you don't reply to emails, don't answer the phone and don't return my calls when I leave voicemails it is unlikely that you'll get my business.

FFS! AXA are still useless cunts!

The price to fix my bike is about €800. Obviously I said 'get ti fook'. Now they are deciding if they'll bring my bike home, aye right ya fuckers you'd fucking better damn do so!

Oh and they've not bothered to work out how they get me home either as it's obviously free to live in a fucking hotel!

CUNTS!

Just checked Electrex World and they list a reg/ rec unit but not a stator, when I had a trade account with them I'm sure they used to be able to test and repair stator plates - might be worth trying them when you get home.

^^^^ I guess compared to the ground shaking a little* lightening activity is pretty un impressive.

All hotels under €200 a night are full today, I need to be out of this room in 23 mins and still I can't get any response except 'we will ring you back'.

I can't go get a flight as all the ones that don't take 20hrs (where the hell does that stopover?) Will have gone before I could get there by train.

They've not yet agreed to get my bike home....

AXA breakdown really are a useless bunch of cunts once you leave the UK.

And when they ask you to DM them, do that, but also post it publicly! They want to take it offline, you don't want to do this!

Post tweets in the style of a nice holiday! #Another lovely hotel curtosey of @Axa - then take a picture of a shitty little hotel room that your being forced to stay in!

That's the trouble it's a nice expensive hotel that I'm paying for!

I don't get twatter, it makes no sense to look at so thanks for the tips guys.

Got into Canterbury to get fuel for a drive up to my Grandad’s 90th in Shropshire. Rear left tyre flat. Had to replace both rears. Fortunately got reasonable tyres in short order and cheaply from Invicta Tyres in Wincheap but still. I’d only had the last lot since last October!

An hour to drive less than 11 miles.

Fuck traffic and fuck a long shift on a Friday.

Feckin' incompetent shites at KwikFit. Last week, they booked* the CX in for its MoT to be done this afternoon. Only, it turns out they didn't. I turned up dead on time only to be told "computer sez no".

Shower o' bastards. I'm trying again on Monday morning.
