Sorry if i sound like a ponce, but Howard Goodall on Classic FM knows his stuff and is easy to listen to. He plays movie themes on Saturday afternoons which I like, all the John Barry stuff etc. Hands up I'm a theme geek!

Wright, Moyles et al are just white noise fat fucks.

Who's the woman who used to do the midnight-3am stint on Radio 2? Jan someone? She was terrible at talking all over the song intros, ramping up the channel really badly as she spoke, so that the song or backing track went from normal volume to virtually mute really badly whilst she dribbled on. That bugged the hell out of me when I used to drive on night shifts, especially on a Friday night when all other stations played crappy dance music so there was really no other alternative.

Steve Wright was also extremely annoying, especially the shit jingles and fake rounds of applause as he and his fellow presenters fawned mercilessly over the most mediocre guests. This was my experience about 5 years ago but I assume little has changed. I refused to listen to Jeremy Vine as it always just pandered to lowest common denominator angry people 'phoning up to complain about the sensationalist Daily Mail report he'd chosen to dwell upon. Radio 4 was dry but at least it offered the opportunity to learn something (e.g. a 30 minute documentary about the history of the bottle cap or something). Gardener's Question Time was a bit too much, though and I couldn't stand The Archers or 95% of the comedies, especially the ones based on nothing more than a bad pun, like counter productive, a sideways, witty glance at life working in a Tiddlywinks factory. Actually, I just made that one up. Maybe I've found my calling in life?

Janice Long, I quite like her personally. Sexy voice.

I agree with comments above that Ken Bruce is amongst the good 'uns; in fact I think he's a truly great DJ

Ken Bruce, his pop quiz (if he still does it) is one of the best.

No dumbing down.

Chris Evans, Steve Wright, Vanessa Feltz, all careerist presenters only in it for the meal ticket. If only BBC Radio could be banned from promoting everything on BBC1 and 2 (Strictly Come Dancing, etc) ALL the time and having adverts for their programmes every 15 minutes.

Just looking at that complete mess Steve Wright and Cameron in the middle angers me! He shouldn't even be able to do interviews on the BBC.

I listen to radio 6 most of the time if its radio as long as I can bear the presenter otherwise its Illinois Street Longe or Secret Agent FM on Radio Soma as there are no DJs talking over it all with their 'witty' banter. Other Tinterweb stations I use are the Dogglounge or certain recrodings on Radio Soulwax such as Batutua Discos or Librarian Girl.

*edit* also listen to You are listening to Los Angeles which is ambient music with the LA police radio playing real time in the background. Again its just music no wankers talking over it except for the police radio which is not trying to be 'wacky' or big up about the time they wnt backstage at a The The concert and bumped into John Lydon etc etc

Some scammer is using my folk's address to take out phone contracts \ phone insurance. Got eight envelopes today from three different providers all with the same unknown name.

What do they do? They've contacted 101 and are speaking to the local police, but otherwise? What if this sod blacklists the address?

I cannot work on the car because of the sodding weather.  I cannot work on art because I woke up with a head full of cold.  I am bored out of my tiny little mind.

I'm off out into the weather to get a cold and probably not quite fix the car.

I was out in the waether, with a cold, looking at a car that needed fixing and has been fixed. I am stupid.

Blimey. Is it time for the monthly radio rant already?

I'm also feeling a bit coldy, and tomorrow's greenlaning is likely to be horribly wet. I should imagine that by Sunday, I'll be man-flued up to the max.

Cold, wet, Renault still broked. Push bike needs heat and beat on the bottom bracket and I can't find the gas for the torch. Van has no fuel and I've no money for it either. Battery flat on motochod and waterproofs plus boots are not since the crash. Cortina still not welded itself yet. Leon due MOT. Running out of backy. No beer.

Feel like life has kicked me in the cock today but them there's the breaks.

Can you call the companies involved too and warn them?

You can also apply to have a note put on the credit record since phone contracts etc will show up on a search.

Or open the letters, get his number and call him every three minutes.

Just got in with about 3 square metres of plastic under trays dragging on the floor. Came round a bend on a road I didn't know quite as well as I thought I did at about 40 and hit a fuckin great flood. Must have been nearly 2 feet deep and it almost stooped 2 tonnes of Chrysler dead, managed to push through, but was shitting myself that the engine would suck in water, it didn't, luckily. What I have got is EML,ABS,ESP and ASR lights on though, the dash looks like a Christmas tree! Apart from ripping the plastics off it was driving ok,so I'm pouring a large Jura single malt, retiring to bed and hoping it cures itself by morning. Then all I'll have to do is buy a big bag of cable ties.

Overall it has been a pretty shit month. I was having a pretty good night out to end the month on pay day, right up until the point i got unexpectedly punched in the face for no reason. Still at least the other guy came off very slightly worse.

There is decent stuff on the radio if you sort the wheat from the chaff. Radio 4 has "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" and "just a minute". for some weird reason I enjoy listening to the shipping forecast. "dogger...fisher...german bite...cyclonic, turning shit later on."

Radio 2 has Bob Harris, Ken Bruce, Alex lester, "the organist entertains" .

all of which means I can always find something to listen to whilst pounding the motorways.

Local radio adverts really. really piss me off.

Why do wankers like that drink if they obviously can't handle it? At least you gave him some back, hopefully he'll do it again on a boxer next time or something and really get his come uppance.

I have always maintained that the day I get pissed and go looking for a fight, will be the day I stop drinking.

It's 7 am. I have a busy day. I'll be efficient and do online communications to people I need to let know about my house move while I'm eating brekkie.

Can you cancel BT services online? Can you fuck. I shall have to telephone them later (and if they DARE to whine at me about how I should stay with them then there will be a temper tantrum). Props to Eon, which was easy peasy to do via their website.

Throughout my adult life I've always chosen my friends partly on how they conduct themselves when they're pissed. Everyone I socialise with either doesn't drink at all (an increasingly common lifestyle choice, it seems) or turns into a happy, talking shite, then falling asleep in their chair type of drunk.

Anyone who gets even a little bit belligerent under the influence doesn't make the grade and is crossed off the list.

Well the new fuel filter has made absolutely f*ck all difference to the Pug.  Nor (so far) has the bottle of Wynn's diesel cleaner I tipped in the tank.  It's still running like a pile of shit.  I'm now wondering about the air leak theory - I was watching the (transparent) fuel line into the filter when the engine deigned to idle for long enough for me to get there, and there was no sign of any air bubbles in the fuel, so if there is one it must be between the filter and the pump.  I did have a look with the torch but couldn't see owt obvious though.  Not sure if I can be arsed to try and fix it any further - I might just empty my crap out of it and stick it on Gumtree for scrap money to see if anyone wants it.  Or I might decide I don't have the patience to deal with the type of mongs that such an advert would inevitably bring out of the woodwork and just drive the bastard thing to the scrapyard.  Still, at least the filter was only £4.18 (although the bottle of Wynn's was 6 quid  ) so it's not like I've wasted a huge amount of money.

I was hoping to go for a ride on the Cagiva this afternoon as, wind aside, it was quite a nice day.  It's decided to be a temperamental Italian piece of shit though - it'll start up and run quite happily for several minutes, then die suddenly for no apparent reason, following which it'll refuse to start for ages before suddenly bursting back into life again.  I've checked and there's plenty of pez getting through (and it is pez this time rather than rainwater - I smelled it) - I didn't have time to investigate further as it was getting dark.  I might have another go tomorrow, weather permitting, or I might just decide I've had enough of temperamental vehicles for one weekend and just stay in and look at porn on the internet.

The ZX I've got had a hidden fuel leak in an o-ring in the filter that was drawing air in and making it run like a sack of shit. I plugged it and it fixed but I noticed its leaking again but still seems to be running okay even though it was a total bastard to start today.

People who park like this:

aUkRkxv.jpg

It's not like there's only one road of free parking, and the everywhere else is paid within a mile radius with loads of Hitler parking wardens doing the rounds 7am - 7pm.

You can't park your car in the space you have left you selfish QUNT.
