The grumpy thread

I;m not Ben Smith and i'm not defending him as the argument was silly. All i'm saying is that maybe Dubong wouldn't find the Autoshite Facebook page so terribly daunting if he didn't randomly shootdown other peoples posts which i admit, wasn't pure Autoshite, but it was obviously of interest to many* on the Autoshite group.

*I personally am not one for detailing my car or even washing it but it didn't make me rage like someone had just rubbed shit on my bonnet.

Yeah, points received. I thought when the AS page changed to a closed \ invite group, the dribbling idiots that cluttered the place up with irrelevant cack might have been moved on.

I went in both barrels and the OP responded in kind - although I wouldn't put him in the aforementioned category.

I still don't understand why you'd post pictures up washing a brand new car on the AS page, though. Cleaning a motor is the simplest thing ever. Since when was it a bitchy meritocracy?

I don't know why detailing types (OMFG Septicism) make out like it's the most mysterious thing in the world and judge all and sundry to their own warped standards. I don't like the insinuation that I'm neglecting my car because I don't stop to clean it every weekend. The comment about 'swirl marks' and 'filthy motors' raised a smile I have to say, and I was wrong about the cost of the OP's wonder gunk.

The paint on my C4 is great, actually - but why you'd want a picture of it being washed on a page about unloved quasi-scrap is beyond my comprehension. I wash my Volvo a lot - does that make me worthy? It used to leak a lot.

Inevitably insults occurred and he blocked me. If it works for him then fine, I just don't get it. Never have and never will.

I might stick my head around the door again when Jim's removed the dross. Then again bollox might clart me with a knackered FAI K Series head gasket if I complain about it.

Hey my car isn't even worth polishing the paints so bad, i only give it a quick once over with a hose to get the grime off every so often. Different story with my bike as i like to keep that looking shiny but i couldn't give two shits about what i use as long as it does the job. Each to their own though, cleaning a brand new Leon can't be any different to cleaning a 30 year old Maestro at the end of the day (apart from when you find bits of the local Gazette dated 1987 makes up part of the nearside front wing).

Michael Schumacher is a coma suffering from a serious brain trauma after a skiing accident today

Mr Stubbs, my science teacher at secondary school ski'd into a tree whilst on holiday. He was in a vegative state for a year or so and then died.

A short time later the school held a short remembrance ceremony for him where they planted a tree in his memory. Yes, the thing that killed him.

I always thought that was odd.

This is exactly why I don't ski.

That, and I'm working class.

Ahht (of) my head, pal?

I very nearly got tickets to a NYE bash at a nice pub in town, but at the last minute I remembered that I fucking hate boozers on that date, as they're usually full of amateur drinkers and knobheads who want to fight the world because the 2 pints they've drunk make them think they're Mike Tyson.

Luckily, I've managed to be off until NYD, but the run up to Christmas has been the worst I've seen on our ward, and I know it'll be much the same well into the new year.

Obviously, it would be right to consider closing beds and transferring more treatment into the community. But that's another grump......

I love car cleaning, but unless its old chod or relevant on here I don't bother you guys with it!

I know it's winter and everything, but I wish the weather would let up for a day or two so I can finish sorting this engine out, it's annoyingly close to being done now but gales and sideways rain make fitting anything impossible.

Then you wanna live in my street Vulger-lour. Its been fighting to stay as mild as possible for as long as possible on this bastard street thus letting the local little shits kick footballs all about the place. The wind has been fighting to stay around but its loosing so now the sun and mild and sunny weather is hanging around for as long as possible.

A table at the Reebok was 35 quid, however, these are toy fairs.

With car related literature you'd be better off at an auto jumble.

Fees may vary.

Speaking of charges, Natwest have been busy. They've taken £90 off me. What did I do? I went over my overdraft by a tenner. And a Happy New Year to you too, RBS.

My relationship with Natwest is brilliant* anyway. Not looking forward to that tomorrow.

Natwest are fuckers, I left them years ago and never went back.  HSBC can burn in hell too, bastards.  Co-operative have been good to me so far, but apparently they're going the way of Northern Rock so I guess I'll resort to keeping monetary notes under my mattress or something.

AA have properly annoyed me and dismissed my complaint as apparently I've already been paying £12ish per month for Standard membership so the upgrade shouldn't be a problem.  My bank account disagrees, I've only been paying £8 per month, which I'm fine with for the service I received when I needed recovering.  AA's customer service leaves a lot to be desired, I'm decided that I'm switching, probably to someone like RAC or one of the other smaller companies.

Trees get too much bad press. It's usually 'leaves on the line', 'deforestation' or blocking roads.

You can't blame trees for killing Mr Stubbs. I'm sure he was a great science teacher, so he would have known that it was a unique alpine blend of friction and gravity that killed him.

I once heard a bod from BR (or whatever they're called these days) explaining why leaves on the line was such a problem for them. Apparently it's to do with the fact that when the rails get covered in fallen leaves and trains run over them, the leaves form a sort of 'black ice' type frictionless coating on the rails and have to be removed for elf & safety reasons. Namely that the trains can't stop properly, which in a busy station can cause problems.

So you can now say with some authority that you heard some bloke on the internet say it, so it must be true. I have informed the Daily Mail. ;)

Yo Ghosty, that story sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, are you sure you're not getting scammed?

They've recieved the money now, but were confused at only getting £5 less, so I've explained to them that it's a PayPal transfer fee. I think it's legitimately just a bad eBayer. Time will tell.

Excelsior news, Apple H8RZ!

Get a Samsung and instead of having iTunes, you can have Samsung's very own Kies. It's like iTunes, only instead of letting you back up your phone and buy music (which then disappears at a later date) you can actually not do anything at all because it just crashes before it backs up or transfers any music.

Booked to have a parcel collected by TNT as I'm off work, spent all day twitching the blinds/curtains, nothing, idiots.

Well TNT turned up when they said they would for me.

Although in a panel van despite telling them of my parcel being 4' X 3' X 3', 78 kilos and on a pallet.

Honestly, if it set your computer on fire and kicked your mum in the face it would be much more preferable to itunes.

Anyway with any android phone you just plug the thing into a computer and it pops up as a removeable disk, then you drag and drop the bootleg music onto it, no shitty samsung software required.

I've heard this too so that's two blokes on the internet.

apparently the "Wrong type of snow" BR PR gaffe from years ago was a genuine concern too. Apparently it was dead powdery and it blew into the cooling vents on their new electric trains, causing them to break down.

This. Its no secret that I don't like iTunes, but its a million times better than kies! Airdroid is worth a look too as long as the phone and pc are on the same home network

How do I get back to the mobile version of Autoshite? I've ended up on the full version and is killing my phone!

Posted

Near the bottom of the page it says "Use Mobile Version", click on that and it should change over. In my experience it'll go back to the mobile version tomorrow anyway.

Opera Mini is a good browser for saving bandwidth and resources, that's what I use.

I am ill, man flu has set in. I would like to spend the day at home doing nothing, but I have remembered that the tax runs out on a couple of my motors today so I need to move them to the garage, as I won't be re-taxing them. Oh and did I mention that I'm ill?

That's pretty much it. Sounds like a stupid excuse but it's a genuine issue that causes a lot of delays

Google Play Music. Upload 20,000 tracks for free from your home PC, they appear in the library on your phone, "pin" the ones you want to save to phone storage and the rest will be streamed on demand if you ever want to play them. Or just change the ones that are pinned every so often.

Also means you can play your music collection on other PCs, tablets or whatever.

I understand that they also check the tracks to see if they are pirated hence why i am oot.

They do it very badly then. I now have a 100% legal collection through ripping CDs but prior to that I had hundreds of torrented albums there. Even better, if you have a crappy quality version they replace it with their own good one! It's like iTunes Match but free.

That statement dates back to when everyone was claiming music locker sites were illegal, it's nearly three years old. Google couldn't give a shit where your music comes from if it ties you into their phones and services :-) now they have the record labels on board (which is who they were trying to impress with the anti piracy claims) they can do whatever they want.
