This a thousand times over.  Lights on so many modern cars are absolutely insanely bright even on dip beam it's bad enough.  Then someone taps the mains and you wind up feeling like you've just taken a supernova to the face.

Came out of town amidst the rush hour people in the wife's Bini. I have a guy all over my arse in a big SUV who is, plainly, of the opinion that my 50 mph is insufficient. Totally blinding - even with the interior mirror on 'anti cnut mode'.
He ends up hanging out over the white lines such that he's blinding me in the door mirror with his vertical LED marker lights - this rural  road is not really any good for overtaking as it's rather twisty and unlit - so he's just Mr Dick.
After 2 -3 miles I wondered if I turned off my headlights could I still see where we were going - oh yes, look, a Bini shadow on all the hedgerows.
A mile later he (finally) puts in the expected bollocks out mode overtake, car coming the other way is mildly* disconcerted.
He's now tailgating another car about 400 yards in front of me - this goes on for another couple of miles until that guy pulls into a lay-by , lets Mr Fuckwit past and then resumes his journey (we're still pretty much at 50 mph).

Audis of all types from A3 upwards CANNOT sit behind any other vehicle EVER no matter what.  I think the owners are told that when they buy them.

I had some kind of big blue Audi SUV literally try and ram me out of the way on the A446 a few months ago simply because I happened to be driving in front of him, I genuinely thought it was going to hit me so I slowed and pulled in to let it through.  About one minute later I caught up with it at a red light, after which it turned off into a car park.

I wonder what would have happened if I'd just let the thing hit me?

My wife had to let go of an immaculate '99 Polo because she kept being bullied off the road by pricks in larger cars. I'd attract the same fuckers I'd never get bothered by in the 406 I had at the time, whenever I drove it. That was going on for 15 years ago, so plus ca change I guess.

As well as my Focus I quite often drive my parents' Honda Jazz, and when I am in the latter I have noticed that the number of people who pull out on me, act like I'm not there, tailgate me and try to bully me pretty much triples compared to when I am in the Focus - simply because people see a Jazz and assume it will be being driven by an elderly person doing 15mph.

Recently I was being constantly tailgated in the Jazz by a bloke in (inevitably) an Audi, so when we came up to a junction and it was clear ahead I got fed up, booted it and left him quite a way behind.  I think he was very surprised at how quickly the Jazz took off!

Few years ago was in my MK3 GT on a dual carriageway passing a convoy when a navy blue 5 series shot up behind me  thought he was plod at first on a shout but obviously no blues & twos so as we got to front  by which time I'd twigged it was just Mr self important  dropped from 5 to 3 & floored it  we may have been well into 3 figures when i finally moved back into the nearside lane & for some reason he seemed to no longer need to over take me & for the next couple of miles sat circa 50ish yards behind me untill he turned off.

There must've been one ear bashed BMW dealer that week trying to convince him that no way could a MK3 cortina  pull away from his Bavarian piece of engineering esp at that speed,

But then he'd probably never come up against  a 5.0V8 cortina before. Strike one for the good guys.

This story may have taken place on a private track made to look like the south bond A1 for training purposes & should never be attempted on a public highway by unqualified nutcases ( qualified ones are a different matter).

#1 reason that my wife gave up on a Morris Minor as her daily driver many moons ago. (So many moons ago that the 'upgrade' was a 1300 Capri :-) ). Even back then, when we were allegedly* more polite, she'd get verbally abused for being female, blonde and in the way) [story below]
Bully is the correct word - on the M6 on Thursday we noted that, whilst everything was doing 70 mph, the arseholes doing the tailgating were all blokes in the big, German SUVs - absolutely pointless as all 3 - 4 lanes were packed, but moving along nicely. One or two were really appalling.

[story] - 2005 (ish) wife is in a 1983 Porsche 924. Multi storey car park and she's opened the bonnet to double check stuff cos she's does not (rightfully) trust the mechanic (me). Bloke walks past "It's an engine, luv"
5'2" and 7 stones of incandescent female then descends upon Mr Gammon and he backs off in a hurry.
I only know this because the two sprogs were sat in the car and told me :-)

Regarding treatment from other drivers

ive noticed a significantly less amount of tailgating, bullying and being pulled out on with the XM compared to the green C5

literally an every day occurrence with the C5 and yet absolutely nothing with the XM

maybe it has more presence?

never really got anything with the red C5 estate either

just the green hatch was a target and ruined driving for me

is it me or is there an increase in ‘Up the Arse Audi’s*’ that are on the roads?  Most of them seem to be these big fuck off size Audi’s, although not exclusively, that delight in forcing people to go faster by driving up their Arse, or just seem to drive that way and have no concept of leaving a gap.

I see Carbaba isn't giving out the full details anymore, just basic stuff... Does anyone know of any new websites which give change of owner dates, colour change details etc for free?

Yes I think it does have an effect. I have never had anyone do it to me while driving  my Impreza but happens quite often in the Bini.

10PM last night I'd had a few pints and I was hungry and fancied a "little snack" . Ended up eating a full family bag of tortilla chips and did in an entire jar of incredibly spicy, imported mexican salsa that was in the fridge, that I opened about three months ago and was definitely "on the turn". I knew I'd regret it, but not as much as this 😭

I don't want to be too crude, so I won't go any further with my description.

Not a real grump but has anyone else found that when moving to the next page in a thread that you are dumped at the foot of the page rather than to first post on the page.

Only happens on this site.

It occasionally does it to me, but probably less than 10% of the time.

Received a nice note from Cumbria police today. I knew I’d been caught , just wasn’t expecting a van on a bridge on a motorway. ( I didn’t think they did it in case some one slams the brakes on and causes a pile up. I now know better). 82 ffs , hardly the land speed record.

Looks like I can have the pleasure of a Speed awareness course.

As they only send the letters by ordinary post , what’s to stop you saying you never received the letter? When they re-send it , you’re then out of the 2 week timescale. I’m sure there must be a reason , otherwise everyone would do it.

I asked that question in the site help topic and was suggested to clear cookies. Didn't work, still does it. Quite annoying given the length of some of the pages on here and the time it takes to scroll up to the top of a pic heavy post, even on a fast fibre connection.

Hit the "home" key on your keyboard. In (nearly) all browsers that should jump directly back to the top of the page.

Yes, it is irritating though, is happening to me as well on a plethora of different platforms.

I’m going to sound like a right busy twat with this but the local Evri driver has a S-Max, I thought ‘I bet that’s done some miles’ , checked it and it’s actually got no MOT, it’s been out for 3 months. Do they not give a shit these outfits? Basically allowing people to be operating on their behalf with a likely unroadworthy vehicle.

A lady I work with says ‘they see the four rings and they get out of your way’ 😂

If anything it just makes me adopt a snails pace, they can either back off and we’ll go at the flow of traffic or I’ll just slow right the hell down.

The delivery companies really don't give a shit, as long as somebody turns up and delivers the parcels, they could be driving virtually anything.

I'm sure Evri would have checked the courier was above board when they started, but they will very rarely check if they are still legit further down the line. A lot of the couriers will also subcon the work onto somebody else, while taking a cut, its a pretty brutal, work for a pittance industry.

The one we usually see here has a clapped out Focus with no rear bumper. Hasn't had a test since 2016 and tax for a year or two before that.  Was showing as uninsured when I checked too.

They couldn't give a damn as it's "the responsibility of the driver to ensure their vehicle is legal.".

They do tend to be covered on the courier companies carriage of goods for hire reward policy, the excess on these policies tend to be in the thousands.

I'm sure if something goes amiss then the policy wouldn't pay up, the subby will probably be working a few weeks or more in hand so any costs would be deducted from any income due.
