Every day there seems to be a new kick in the bollocks from somewhere. Is it possible to have a break in life now and then?

Hard to know what I'm moaning about, tbh. My parents were so poor, they could only afford a second hand calculator and the 'X' button was missing.

Times were hard.

@Cavcraft Times are tough right now, even though we are generally better off than our parents generation. Not only is there the risk of loosing the old and the vulnerable of our loved ones in one short go there is the impact of the economy stopping and for many little or no money coming in.

Dam right it's ok to wonder if there is a chance of a break from life. In fact I think TV is a break from life, or valium is. But they don't really help, you have to carry on and pick up the pieces after you are done watching or taking the valium.

Picked up a bike for eldest from Halfrauds, staff serving said it’s had its ‘pre delivery inspection and was good to go’. Got it home, chain was bone dry, tyres flat as a fart... wasn’t expecting a bouquet of flowers but if they said they’ll assemble it I’d assume they’d take the trouble to put some fucking air in the tyres.

In a previous iteration I was a support worker for peeps with learning difficulties

One of the more able ones once rocked up to shared house with a new cycle from Halfords complete with rigid forks backwards, non functioning rear brake and no batteries in front or rear lights.

More than a little incensed I rounded up the troops into the mini bus we had, threw the bike in the back and returned to Halfords.

The staff were adamant someone had fucked with the bike and weren't keen to do much about it.

To the manager I  pointed out the chaos which his store had descended into. Two were playing a version of pooh stick with bicycle tyres in the isles, a lad with adhd was running around the store with his arms held out making engine noises having a whale of a time, another lad obsessive with prices was in the process of taking every single item to the till for a price check.

To the manager I said quietly, the longer you fuck me about the longer this lot destroy your store.

Told me to come back in a hour when all would be sorted and would chuck in accessories as well.

Mrs went to the pharmacy to get her fathers prescription this morning.

45 minute wait, fair enough if they are busy.

Old fella at the front of the queue was having a proper rant at the pharmacist as his prescription included paracetamol which they didn't have.

He just kept shouting "It's on my prescription - I'm ENTITLED to it. I'M ENTITLED!!"

Apparently the pharmacist repeatedly apologising and telling him they didn't have any was not acceptable, he just shouted it again.

Just a reminder that not all old people are frail vulnerable lovely old worthers original suckers.

Some are just twats that have been alive a long time.

Daughter worked in a community pharmacy before moving to a hospital.  The usual responce by the pharmacist is to say "We will deliver it. Will you be in on Friday?"

Least of your worries! Have you felt the weight of those Halfords bikes?? Got my lad a Frog bike, half the weight of a Halfords boat anchor!

Yeah it is quite heavy actually.

*Not bothered what people do, but there is clear non smoking rules in these flats, and they smoke out of the windows above us, throw all the dog ends onto the front garden and generally make the whole place stink of properly strong skunk. It's turned a lovely quiet set of flats into a shit hole.

My upstairs neighbour was doing this for a while. Since I started posting the dog ends through her letter box it seems to have stopped for now...

I thought they'd stopped the bullshit of paracetamol on prescription.  It's twenty one fucking pence for fuck's sake.  I know we now have to pay for my son's antihistamine which, on balance, is absolutely fine.

Antihistamine is 50p a packet in our local quid world.

Loratadine suspension is £4.50. It matters not, I can afford it and so it’s right I pay for it. It doesn’t work for me so I have a prescription one myself, again fine.

Sounds about standard, sadly.

When I started on the Halfords Cycle Desk years and years back, I replaced a lad who was notorious for having sent about 100 bikes out the door with the brakes adjusted so they closed on the tyres, rather than the rims...

He wasn't sacked, he just left for a job at a Vauxhall main dealer...

(Not even joking.)

Try catcar.info You'll find what you want on there -and a lot more.

Sorry for the slow reply, but just to say many thanks for that - a few bits of the Servicebox functionality is missing, but certainly the functionality I used most frequently is there ?

Thanks, TT - I thought Cav had lost it the first time I read his post. Nice one @Cavcraft

I think the dogs may just have to deal with on site exercise for the foreseeable future.

I made the mistake of sneezing at one point while out today and was virtually chased out of Linford Wood by a bunch of about ten youths who were screaming at me that I was trying to kill them all.

Fun fact 1: I was about 200 metres away from them.

Fun fact 2: I have allergies, therefore have a somewhat runny nose and am prone to random bouts of sneezing 365 days a year.

I honestly don't feel safe leaving the house now after that.

Other grump.  The pubs are closed to try to help prevent people gathering and potentially spreading the virus among them.  It seems that about 50 folks just round the corner from us haven't got the message and instead see this as an excuse to have a huge drunken barbeque party crammed into their mate's house.  Real smart idea.

Why is common sense so far from common?

sad thing is, if they actually used any of their 3 brain cells they would realise a runny nose is NOT a symptom of the Corona virus...

Friends of ours in N Wales have commented on the amount of people taking their caravans out for a "nice break"

Exercise is good for you, perhaps walking early in the morning as 'de yoot' rarely stir themselves before mid-morning if there's no school? Are your dogs not scary enough to keep them at a 'safe' distance anyway?

Fuck 'em. Walk towards them wiping your nose on a tatty hanky which you then wave in their direction, cough and spit for good measure. They were just being 'hard' cos there was 10 of them. Or, set the dog on them, even better, tell them to watch out as the dog has rabies...

We're having a "pay grade restructuring" at work.
A restructuring that after rudimentary calculations means I'm out of pocket circa £300 a year.

Hmm. Words need wording I think.

Less than a pound a day doesn't sound like a disastrous loss, or is that your shiteing budget they've helped themselves to?

Shit design, shit designer!

Flexible multiple platforms are all great and that at reducing costs to make the psychopathic bosses at VW/Audi stinkingly richer, but it can just suck too.

My friend's 06 VW Touran doesn't let you place the windscreen wiper arms so they sit off the windscreen without removing the bonnet!

On my slightly later one (59 plate), if you flick the wiper switch down a few seconds after removing the key, the wipers park in the vertical position.  Worth a try?

Ok I'll try it! Thanks. Still a bit faffy for something that is achieved by simply not putting the wipers and bonnet in conflict.

Still don't love VAG, despite having two VW cars.

Because sadly "common sense" barely exists anymore. Its a rare thing these days that has been forgotton or chased out of peoples senses and replaced by their sense of entitlement and the rapidly growing "me first" attitude" that has so far massively displayed itself through the panic-buying twats who have cleared the shelves of various supermarkets not thinking that the helpers of housebound vunerable elderly people will be unable to find stuff for them.

I spend about 30 minutes in Asda car park everyday (or did) waiting for my daughters school bus and it was overwhelmingly the elderly who I saw bringing out the massive overloaded trolleys. There were couples in their 80s who had enough bog roll to make it worth leaving in their wills. Over the course of last week I saw very few middle age people doing this, and no youngsters at all. When they were filming about the hour for the old at some shops, every trolley you could see was laden with stuff I can’t believe they would get in a normal week. I am in self isolation now due to immunosuppressive drugs for my arthritis and have fuck all in the fridge because ASDA, Aldi and Morrisons have been emptied by these locusts.

Absolutely. The last part of my post was actually a personal rant as a neighbour of mine is very elderly and currently housebound, she doesn't have a large mixture of various foods. One particular stock of food that she does eat was out of stock in 5 supermarkets I visited on Friday. Thankfully I found some last night restocked and bought a few packets for her so she won't go without.

The common sense being replaced by self-entitlement comment applies to all ages. Young and old.

I did a big shop last week, no stockpiling (last 6 toilet rolls) but still a bigger shop than usual because the advise was to limit the number of times you need to go shopping.

The problem seems* to be an inability to replenish the dick quickly enough rather than shortages of any items (bar alcohol hand gel).
