Halfords, I'm not one to complain but honestly, what is the fucking point of the place? They didn't have a Ford oil filter in the shelf, it took 5 minutes to find a member of staff and a further 5 minutes for them to go out back, come back and tell me they don't have any, but "come back later today, just in case some come in".

Halfords have very little in the way of car service parts and source their stock from ECP, why not just go to ECP in the first place?

Not really a grump, more an observation but last night scrolling through stuff on autotrader because I was bored, very bored and no money or intention to buy another car however as you do, how much Range Rover does £15k get me or what if I won a lump sum...you know the game.    Whilst scrolling through I was amazed at how many photos were taken last winter with bare tree's and wintry scenes. How long do these dealers keep this stuff sitting about, and why not refresh the pics shirley?  Perhaps most people don't notice this kinda thing.

We were visiting a shop next door and I've got a traders card.

because you will stand at the counter being ignored for fifteen minutes while every counter staff will pretend to be on the phone. If you pick something up off a display and start walking out with it they soon get to the counter then, though (or is that just the Peterborough branch?)

Princess has blown its head gasket again.  Oil and bubbles in the coolant, spits of water out the exhaust, and you can watch the coolant level drop while its idling.  I haven't done a compression test because, honestly, I don't think it's needed to confirm what's going on.  All I did was replace a heater hose that had gone spongey, and this is how it rewards me.

I didn't know whether to post this here, or in the 'What the **** is wrong with you' thread.

Tetley is a worried chap this morning. I had my HGV medical a couple of weeks ago, and seemingly everything was fine, passed with no advisories. Then, either Friday or Saturday I received a letter from the Nazi party - sorry - DVLA, telling me I had to attend a 'field of vision' test. They provided a list of approved opticians, but it was the wording of the letter that got me - 'if you do not make an appointment, or turn up to an appointment, we will revoke your licence', maybe not exactly the wording, but you get the gist.

So, yesterday, Tetley turned up for said appointment. One of the first questions I asked was would they tell me if I had met the standard. They do not discuss the outcome of the test with you, it's between them and the DVLA. I  had to sit the test 3 times. You look at an orange dot in the middle of a white screen, and further dots appear in random places all over the white screen. You have to press a button every time you see a white dot appear. It's an awful test. Your eyes cross, focus, re-focus, and you're so busy thinking of that, you probably miss some dots. I had to do a regular sight test as well, in which I read the bottom line.

I got home to find yet another Nazi party letter waiting for me. Our DVLA doctor is assessing your fitness to drive, and will be writing to Dr ******** etc.etc.

I've got an awful feeling they're going to take my HGV entitlement away. I can see fine. My eyes are better than Mrs Tet's, yet the Nazis have got it into their heads that I need a white stick to get around.

Because they won't tell me anything, I now have weeks of stress coming up. Oh joy.

Still not heard an effing thing. I requested a meeting with my GP before he wrote back to the DVLA to discuss this, but I've heard nothing from him either.

Nobody will tell me anything. God, I hate the arrogant, ignorant bastards that are the DVLA.

Hard to know what you're moaning about, TBH. The photographer at our wedding got crushed by a huge block of cheese. We all tried to warn him.

Car stereo swallowed up and snapped one of my chrome tapes. Annoying, especially as there were studio recordings on it which GDPR has now withheld from the Internet over here. I think it might now be time to invest in a VPN.

Bloody midge fly things everywhere! I want to change coolant but there are millions of the hateful little cretins ?

I wanted to do a couple of jobs on the 9-5 today. Uncomfortably hot.

Bonnet was scorching. Cleaned a filmed up headlight and called it a day.

Use Tor - it's free.  You sometimes have to restart a few times to get an exit node that's not in the EU, but you get there eventually.

Ahh... Tor. I keep forgetting it exists. These recordings are off an album on Spotify, so I'll either buy a CD of said album or VPN to the US where the album originates.

Ah, fair enough, sometimes I forget that there are still a tiny proportion of Caddys that aren't driven/modified by Dubberz.

My last can of old recipe Irn Bru.  Therefore probably my last one, period.  Which is a shame as it used to be a personal favourite.

I'm intolerant to Aspartame (causes me crippling migraines even in small quantities) and the other sweeteners that were dumped into everything not using Aspartame with the introduction of the sugar tax taste to me as though someone has dumped a couple of spoons of vinegar in the drink.

Go take a look in your average supermarket and see what options you have not including Aspartame, Stevia, Steviol, sucralose etc as a sweetener these days.  You'll find that your options are basically Classic Coke and Pepsi.  Though I have discovered that Tesco now stock Mtn Dew (the proper stuff, not the Energy version which tastes well different) in their Jamaican section...so have been basically clearing them out every time I pass by.

Same with orange lucozade.  Went from delicious to undrinkable in one sugar tax based amendment.

Clever strategy - make unhealthy things so foul that nobody buys them.  The moment fags become aniseed flavoured, i’m quitting altogether.

I've noticed that too.  Ribena is horrible now. At least for me it is.

Ribena has been horrible for me since 1966. I was not very well and was given a glass of warm Ribena which I immediately threw up. I have not felt like trying it since. I don't miss it at all, but it could gave been so much worse, my brother has an aversion to Jaffa cakes after he experienced a similar reaction with those.

Same here avoiding fizzy drinks these days.

The idea that the disgusting shit they put in them instead of sugar is better for your health is also plainly stupid. It tastes of cancer. And the media etc talking about what a success it is. The same idiotic approach to legislation that had them pushing diesel as an environmentally friendly fuel.

I have an aversion to custard. I had some for dessert once and then was ill with a temperature for a couple days. Never touched a drop since.

Yeah... annoyingly Aspartame is the one I can taste the least...and it took me a month of getting migraines every other day before I joined the dots.  I was drinking it while I was running around all over Hell so didn't realise that the taste being "off" was because it had gained Aspartame!

I won't go too far on smoking.  I'm asthmatic and few things make me feel like shit more quickly than getting a face full of someone's smoke.  Or having a (still lit) fag end flicked in my face through the open car window (has happened four times now), so my feelings on the matter are that it should just be downright banned outside private homes.  What you do in your own house is your own business, but keep it out of everyone else's face.

Admittedly, having my mother's death certificate handed to me with smoking listed as the main contributor to the cause of death (she was 58) may have somewhat hardened my views on the subject.

I like a bargain me.
Sometimes I'll buy something I do not need right now or possibly ever and it sits on the shelf if the price is right.

I bought a new boxed, unopened but reduced to clear Logitech Webcam about six years ago because "Its a Logitech, they invented USB webcams, its foolproof"

So today, with a video interview arranged tomorrow I bust it out of its box and plug it in.
Its fucked, tried Win-10/Win-7 and a Linux box, Nothing, not detected at all.

I was out in the MX5 on Sunday when the steering suddenly started pulling to the left. It was progressively getting worse. As I was on a dual carriage way I nursed it to a safe place to pull over and investigate but at this point I also realised it was a flat tyre, nearside front.

I got the wheel brace out of the boot and it wouldn't fit in the wheel nut holes. Luckily my dad doesn't live too far from where I was and he brought me a slim line socket on an extendable bar. Upon removing the wheel and inspecting, it was actually the valve that had cracked/split at the base.

Unfortunately the short time I'd driven on the tyre had worn the sidewall. Also, upon checking all the other valves, they're all in the same condition. So, a new Rainsport 3 tyre has been ordered (gutted really as they're like new) and I shall gingerly make my way to a tyre fitters on Friday to have all the valves replaced.

Oh, and I need to order a slim line wheel brace ?

Tried to change the wheels around on the Vectra B. The jack is basically borked, plus the sill catcher is utterly useless;
