I use that too and when they say 'It says £400' I just tell them it also says 'no offers'.

The thing these twats don't get is that if they rang up, viewed and were polite and offered a sensible lower price then I would meet them in the middle, shake hands and off they would drive into the sunset, leaving us both happy with the deal just like the good old days.

Have fun. That is one job I'd give to a garage these days, even if I removed & refitted the struts myself.

Well the car needs to be back on road by tomorrow as I really doubt I can drive the avensis into Nottingham at 3pm without causing severe pain and discomfort

Mr Cento…..

When he started with the usual "i have to travel to get there and that'll cost" (not my problem mate), a full story about all the costs entailed in collecting a car and getting it home, right from tickets, to petrol and insurance, plus the risk the car is not as advertised....

FUCK HIM - If I can come back n forth from Brussels and troll off into the sunset - this cunt can cross a busy fucking motorway or a slightly inclined part of the landmass……… tool!

If you want a vehicle of ANY kind - you'll get off your arse and go get it...……. as D n S said - pussies!

It's the seating position in the avensis. Due to my shitty leg I can only really comfortably drive autos in a car. Higher up things like my picasso I'm more comfortable and manage fine.

Just ordered the series 7 of Game Of Thrones from Amazon and it signed me into Prime, which I don't want.

My run of luck with vehicles is continuing true to form. Called to see my mechanic to see how the fitting of the new fuel pump to the Discovery was progressing. Good news, new fuel pump fitted. Bad news, still no go! Now suspect either a FUBARed CPS or a poor connection on an ECU, otherwise it looks like it might be ECU failure.

Wanders off grumbling, muttering about modern heaps of shite!

I need to hire a van in a couple of weeks. Go to filing cabinet for driving license. Is it in there? Is it fuck.

You wouldn’t believe how many replacements I’ve had over the years for the same fucking reason. Somewhere there must be a collection of them.

Pretty sure it was a Cavcraft post where when asked "what's the lowest you'll go" was on a bike he said "3mph, any lower and I'll fall off".  Always gives me a little chortle does that.

I don't want to start a new thread just for this.

Daughter had her Fiesta written off a month ago, insurance (other party) said they would give her £1450.

She had a 207cc lined up but still no payout - she's using a Fiat 500 rental currently and getting seriously pissed off with the insurance - who said they thought that she had been paid.

She is looking at this but I have absolutely nothing to tell her as far as reliability etc. goes and hoped shiters anonymous might have some insight into them.

Grateful for any and all replies

2006 Micra 1.6 Sport c+c
72k Miles from New
Mot valid until 18/06/2019
New Clutch Fitted on April 2018 & has a 2 year guarantee (Invoice here)
This little car drives Brilliantly, pulls very well through all the gears & is a pleasure to behind the wheel of.
The Electronic Roof mechanisms & all 4 windows work perfectly
Very good general condition other than a slight scrape along the bottom of the passenger door which will touch up easily.
The Summer is just round the corner (apparently ha) so this is the perfect time to pick up a cheap Convertible.

TD5? Check the ECU for engine oil. It tracks in via the loom. It's a most wonderful example of heritage.

Its really hard to judge a car on a description and pics only, It looks ok and they are normally totally reliable, the roof is a question mark as always with these type of cars but if it works fine it should in theory continue working fine, at a grand I can't see how you could go wrong provided all the consumables are in good shape.

I've used mine many times and I've still got my face and a full complement of limbs. Missing a few brain cells but hey ho. Going to get it done tomorrow. After I'd picked them up and then fetched our lass it was a bit dark.

Finally got my Lada manual today, and am somewhat disappointed given it was meant to be in "good condition". Instead I got a manual which was dirty, has been submerged in water, and both the covers had the cardboard liner totally pulped up so the front and rear covers are quite floppy. I expected the oil damage so no surprise there. It also has a healthy amount of mildew on it too. Icing on the cake. Nae bother though, I'll get another one at some point and the present manual is airing out in the airing cupboard. I'll see how it is in a couple days' time.

Assistant in the petrol station earlier:

'Urgh. How can you drink red milk?'

'Well, you get used to it. I've been drinking it for years.'

'Why though?'

'I'm trying to lose weight. It's fine, really.'

'Clearly it's not working if you're still having to drink that stuff.'

As I walked away, I realised what a total and utter prick he'd just been and how utterly tactless that could have been to the wrong person. What a total cunt.

The irony? I was dressed in gym gear. Having just been to a class.

For the record, I've lost a stone since December and I don't look all that fat...

Go back and fucking throw it at him

'The most I can get is £500'

No thanks.

'What's your lowest?'

(ignores that)

'I'll give you £600 if you drop it off'

It's not happening, it's got to be the full asking price

'So you won't even knock 95 off?'

(Ignores)

'It's for my mum a single mum on a budget'

(Still ignores).

Christ. You should have had them on saying you’ll drop it off at 2am.

No. Leave it 3 months, then go and throw it over the counter.

All I know about them is I once knew a bloke who drove a pink one. He was an utter cunt.

I realise that isn't a great* help.

Odd one, Discovery still up for sale, i have someone interested....has told me he wants it for spares

whilst that's definitely the most economical use for it, knowing it'd be going to be hacked up doesn't sit well with me.

Would much prefer to sell to someone who'd at least try to save it.

Daft emotional attachment.

Thankfully, he's one of the "What's your best price mate" brigade, so chances are he'll lose interest when i tell him the advertised price is my best price.

Buried my Nan today. Was ill for a good 2 weeks at the beginning of the year. The last half year her dementia had progressed to the point where she didn't know who I was anymore. Not sure what was harder out of those two things. Confusing mentally as I've just lost her but then we also lost her as a person before that.

My grandad at the funeral was getting confused and thought the service was for a friend, not his wife. He probably will have forgotten today by the end of the week. Very hard to have a chat anymore without him going on about something completely incoherent. However he does remember my name and who I am still.

Other Grandad didn't go as he wasn't feeling well. Phoned up after the wake about going to see him. Carer answered. She said he had fallen over and they were waiting for the paramedic. He's now in hospital awaiting tests.

Oh and Mrs SiC operation that she is supposed to be having next week got cancelled earlier this week. An operation that we have been waiting for over 8 months for. Being to do with fertility it's low priority on the NHS list.

Life really sucks at times.

Thoughts are with you SiC, these things tend to come in groups. Nothing anybody can do to ease the pain, but I hope things improve for you and yours.

Sorry to hear that.

It's just over a year since my Gran was cremated, she also suffered from dementia for well over a decade. The final 6 or 7 years in particular were horrific and no humane kind of existence at all with no mobility and being unable to recognise people.

It's a weirdly conflicting emotion when the day comes, Of course the death itself is heartbreaking, but also their suffering is over, which brings a weird form of relief and closure. In time, i saw the truth is, it's kinder for them and those around them for it to end... The really cruel part was the dementia to begin with that robbed them of who they were, the death, whilst obviously horrible.... nobody wants to live a life like that.
