Got an agency wanting to put me forward for an interview with an IT company. The pay is a little bit better than where I am now, but their website doesn't seem very professional.

 

Their homepage has an out of proportion photo of a rather iconic building in Aberdeen that they have nothing to do with. How do I know they have nothing to do with this building? It's a building that my current employer owns! DERP.

Thought for a bit that it was going to be your current employer putting jobs out with better pay but not telling you, (it does happen and is always a good* way to get the best out of long term employees)

my grump is that i keep upsetting my wife.

I know she's highly strung but The outpouring of anger and emotion yesterday because of something trivial. And the fact that she went off in the pissing down rain to stay with her sister (MikeRs wife) in their caravan somewhere in Yorkshire just leaves it all in limbo.

The biggest grump is that she won't let me put my side of any situation.

 

The fact is that i need to lose weight. I am also very greedy. I cooked us all a nice fry up yesterday as it was a horrid day and when i started eating she started going on. I explained that this week I'd lost some weight (15:6 down to 15:1). but she started going on about me lying. So i got up, put my breakfast in the bin started putting my jogging clothes on and said no you are right. i need to do something. Bang shit hits THE fan.

Life is shit sometimes. Still is.

My latest plan is just to sell everytuing.

The real problem is that money just isn't worth anything nowadays. It probably wasn't even in the 80s, but it was so much easier to come by.

It got a lot worse in the 90s and since this millennium without any redeeming features began, it became seriously tough.

So the more worthless money becomes, the harder it is to obtain, which is actually no wonder when five people have 60% of it.

Having FINALLY dozed off, the bloody smoke alarm out on the upstairs landing decides to go off - for all of ten seconds - at 0341 in the morning. Cue frantic check of the whole house for any signs of any smoke.

 

Fire in the house is one of my recurring nightmares. That'll be it for me sleeping tonight then I guess.

Yesterday morning..... bit of a stutter from the SAAB - no matter thinks I. Couple more on the way to work - ah well, I'll take a look this evening if I can be arsed - and parked up. 

Evening - started up and sounds a bit 'off'..... been getting the 'wash fluid low' warning for a few days so CLEAR - didn't read it properly first though eh smart-arse*. Trundled home amid the odd misfire and a BING just short of destination. Read the fuggin message this time though - COOLANT LEVEL..... !!! Bolloxfuxtixwankpadmonkeyjizzguzzlingtwat......

So much for finding a house.  Surveyor's report came back today and even with us knocking them down to what seemed a reasonable price for the area, it's still £100k overpriced AND the house essentially needs demolishing and rebuilding anew because of problems with its construction.

 

Back to square one.

This may be prime granny/egg interface, so apologies in advance, but take some brave pills and re-read the report through the eyes of a man whose whole job is to cover his back.

 

I'm not saying it'll do anything to improve the valuation aspect, but the most structurally sound, damp-free house imaginable can still acquire a survey which is covered in bright red boxes warning that the WIRING IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT CAN'T BE SEEN and THERE MAY BE HIDDEN SUPPORT BEAMS WHICH ARE NO LONGER SAFE.

 

Of course, if the report says

Ya know that Phone I mentioned a few posts up? well my brother gave it back to me (after I handed it back to him when it woke me up with people trying to contact him on it) saying "it stopped working" I fiddle with it for a while and see that yeah somethings defiantly fucked with it, (it looked like the iPhone was not detecting its battery properly)

mercedade: The problem with the house mainly is that it's a temporary prefab built from materials with an unsuitably short lifespan but has been presented as a house that is built from something rather more substantial.  It's basically a dolled up static caravan which is fine for a holiday in Rhyl, but not for a house you want to live in for a few decades.  In a few years it will be beyond its lifespan and require replacing and that's not something we have the budget for, nor the desire to do even if we did.  On top of this is the fact the property, while nice looking and in a good location, requires work to make it fit our needs such as a driveway extension to fit all the vehicles.  A nearly-okay house with a nice location pricetag has turned into a liability because of the result of the surveyor's report.  Bullet dodged, but still massively annoying.

Oof, that's shocking. There are a few prefabs near me and when they come on the market they say quite clearly "non-standard built, cash buyers only"

 

I'd be rightly pissed off with the estate agents in your case.
