The grumpy thread

Bloody pay-as-go ultilites. They lied to me when I moved in so when I topped up this morning most of the topup vanished on the previous person's debt. Ring them up & find out a totally different way to inform them that the reason I have a different name & just bought the house is I'm not the last lot of people...but I don't get the money back till they process that.

Roll on a week or two's time when I get back on a proper energy supply that isn't designed for pikeys.

They should’ve reset the keys - I had to endure this bull shit in a couple of rentals

..... and the BTL I’m buying has them, and I’m not changing them. #hypocrite

Oh they did reset the cards, but because they lied to me about how to prove I wasn't the old customer they put the debt back on after two weeks.

WTF!!!

Had no idea they could even do that

Yeah, they suspend the debt until they have proof you're a new customer not a scummer trying it on. But when they say the info on how to prove that is in the welcome pack rather than look on our website & upload a document & the 2 week suspension runs out on the day the welcome pack arrives...

Shysters basicly, Utilita are scummers.

What supplier?

I didn’t have to prove anything the two times I’ve done this, to Scottish Power and British Gas.

thank you lucky stars that they only want £60......

i had the same thing, after been on the dole for 18 months i got back into work, and somewhere along the line got put on tax credit too for the first year.

only i then got a letter from the revenue demanding £2000, followed a year later for another demand for £3000.

in both cases, the demanded money was too be paid within 6 weeks.....

great!]

next time, if i ever EVER am in that position again i will tell'em to take their tax credits and shove them up their collective arses.

They took £1600 out of one of my daughters' accounts without informing her and no amount of complaining would make them alter their decision.

Wire the meter? As long as it's not outside where they can check it obviously.

Difficult on a gas meter.

They broke into my house!

Related to above where I had no power on a pre paid meter I got them to out a normal one back in but as I was only using about £1.50 a week they thought I was fiddling it.

No letters, no door knocks just one day hears a noise from the cellar and two guys from Yorkshire Electric were trying to open a window.

I hadn't touched the meter I was just never in and had sod all turned on. They could have just asked me...

Anyway long time ago that now :-)

These are smart meters so you can just swap suppliers without a meter change. Which I've already done but it takes about 3 weeks to happen.

Technology.

All of my stuff seem to want to die, so far the laptop has bricked itself, then my housephone decided it didn't want to just be a housephone anymore and now I drop my mobile and it lands on its screen cracking the screen FFS

Day three of me having the flu. Managed a solid four hours sleep last night so feeling a bit better.so been up since two am and have managed to do some cleaning and stuff without collapsing in a heap. Bren my local computer fixer is ex merseyside police. He had a good few years in when the van he was a front seat passenger in overturned whilst attending a call. He laughed about how when the dust had settled and he was in hospital with a broken shoulder and bad back that he could now retire down some injured in service type pension thing. Not saying that you need to be knocked down by some keen young chap in the yard or anything. Hope you are feeling better soon. I have been awful for the last few days. How people go on for months I don't know. Cos whilst being an old fart I am at least reasonobly fit and able to do anything I like, besides losing weight.

You dont need to be rude or funny with her - just tell her never to ask you to do any work for her again.

I'm pretty sure I've tried that already, she always comes back though.

In related news, see if you can guess who rang this morning to ask if her daughter can pick the car up and she'll come back later to pay the bill?

Ha!

I trust you won't be allowing that car off your premises without the bill having being paid in full beforehand.

Also, I'm sure you're capable of giving her a polite but firm "No." if she ever comes back in the future :-)

Get a gas fitting friend to knock up a pipe to bypass the meter

Bill first then car.

Please tell her to do one. Do you really need the future hassle?

Years ago a neighbour did this and got caught, eventually the Gas Board ripped out all the pipes to the edge of his property - didn't make good the trench in the drive either.

As suggested elsewhere, the word you are finding it difficult to formulate - because you are very clearly a nice bloke - is NO.

You are running a business, not a public service, and you have no obligation at all to any over-entitled tw@t who thinks the world revolves around them.

Just been for a load of blood tests, hellfire, they took at least three arms worth (anyone remember the sketch?) ! I am now quietly shitting myself :(

I sent off all my vehicle's V5Cs and my driving license to get the address updated a while ago, all the VC5s were in one envelope and the license was separate but posted at the same time.

Today a letter dropped onto my doormat from the DVLA containing... One V5C, for RLK 126R, the only piece of documentation I really don't need. No doubt all the other stuff will arrive at 11:30pm tomorrow, 3 hours after I've left...

I sent my licence & three V5cs off all on the same day last week, bets on which one doesn't come back?

Aye, she's had my last nerve this time. No more favours, no freebies, no credit.

Soon as she's collected the car and paid up I'm blocking her number.

Actually, I might invent an extra charge and then make her promise to pay it later. That should get rid of her.

Fuck me - there’s a thread on pistonheads about monthly costs of running cars (quelle surprise)

Someone with a 2014 diesel X6 is shelling out £1250 a month in total between finance and running costs - £1 a mile for their 15k a year

Pistonheads really is a different world.  £15k to keep one ugly, non-descript car going for a year is insane.  Still, I'm sure they're very happy with their life choices.

Excellent positivity there. (Meant in a good way)

Assuming I was happy to spend 15k a year I think I would be running a V8 Aussie or Yank on finance and getting someone else to do the maintenance

I think this would be a good idea for a thread if I could get my head around how it would be split between payments and fuel.

I don't think even our hardest core chod botherers get through £15k a year do they?

Wobbler? Bramz? FOAD?
