Wish i had kept that now! Loss of driveway meant it had to go, got no takers and off to the scrapyard it went! Its leather interior lived on with another member on the 190 forum. God i miss that thing. Here it was loaded up and ready to leave your placeFB_IMG_1512327344554.jpg.8150ba0c1820eb35ec40bdd54d8b3947.jpg

And here sitting all polished up and waiting on welding and a new fuel pump.....FB_IMG_1512327366221.thumb.jpg.21260692b5070d27182abf4b3690e8cc.jpg

Doubt i could ever afford another, toyed with the idea of buying your old c200 from tetley on here but dont think it would be the same as a 2.6 sportline somehow

Lol! Now then Thomas, how's it going? Didn't know you were on here as well!

I had a selection of vehicles at the time, as is my wont.  Only one I still own (not counting the Mobylette which was still stuck in France at the time) is the Volvo 164, which I believe was on the road when I joined.  I forget exactly how the fleet was composed at the time, but I did also have a Mk1 Jetta amongst others.

I signed up in 2013(?!), so it was probably an old Peugeot bicycle that only had one brake, and it was on the back...

Can't remember  when I signed up originally ( with my old username, I mean)... but I was driving  a Skoda Favorit which I had purchased from a scrapyard, and a T35D Master camper.

Good crikey lordy moses. Hadn't realised I've been here for ten years.

At the time of my first ever post, I still owned this:

DSC_9703.thumb.JPG.5c888177035ec10003aff4567a1c7ac5.JPG

It was nice enough, but had the wrong engine (1.9 JTD) to make my balls fizz, and as such I flogged it for a 50% profit and spent the spoils on a house deposit.

I now live in said house.

Also, at that point I had yet to inherit the Rover, but I had the Audi just as much then as I do now. In fact, I bought the Alfa to replace the Audi, and, well, it failed.

Furthermore, at that point my now wife was merely my girlfriend, and I had yet to STEAL her Peugeot 306, which is now mine (although she'll argue to the contrary)

I can't find any pictures for my sign up date 1st Dec 2010.

The best I can manage is Sep 2010 photos, but all the cars were still with me 1st Dec. Also we still have a fair number from 2010 today.

There were others of course but while all purchases are in a list, it is pen and paper and a bit messy to easily say what I had on any particular date.

2007 for me so I had the Sapphire that is still sat on my driveway doing its best weetabix impression and either a 200k mile white Mk3 Astra LS Estate with mismatched seats and a perspex side window or the AxGt that cost  £100 with a burnt out wiring loom.

Pics on an old laptop in a cupboard somewhere.

this wonderful french steed, and I still am. cost me £600 quid in 2016 and have promptly spent 2-3k keeping it on the road, but sentiment and all that

Around November 2006 I discovered the Autoshite website. Anyone remember Cafe Pan-Am?

Back then I was driving this and very nice it was too.

FB_IMG_1601490213348.thumb.jpg.ba3bcdf5dc659f0da69dcda71ec103d9.jpg

I didn't know that there was a forum until April 2008 when I was looking for material about old 70s Fiats on a week off from work. Back then I had that sort of time, being single, childless and living in a rented flat.

I signed up and I worked my way through the whole 'You Tube Moments' thread, discovering the likes of Tony Arzenta,  together with the rest of the site. I also remember loving Mr Regie Ritmos Renault 14 WUF 892S and buying a diecast model of one.

My Astra looked like this when I sold it in 2018, still going now too.

FB_IMG_1601490197253.thumb.jpg.66daffd9c599d4fd70aaec667cd909db.jpg

I was only the second owner. It was absolutely mint underneath, on top and inside.

Part of me thinks I should have kept it as the 4 cars I have now aren't a patch on it in terms of condition. But life is too short to care about that and I do like where I'm at with my fleet now:

10 1/2 years owning this:

...and these 3:

Joined in 2009.

Had these 3, all now sadly sold. Cavalier was sold on AS last year. Uno and 19 were sold not too long after I joined. Unfortunately they have both gone according to the DVLA. 😢

Seeing these pictures though, makes me want another trio of the same again!

This appears to be your first post and also your first car picture! Did you ever get it back?

You might want to edit your post and remove your phone number though!

I had these when I joined back in 2012.

I went through a phase of buying Polo's because they could be had for around £300 and were reasonably reliable.

First was aware of AS like others have stated when it supported the rust in peace pages of PC; I may well have been in Scimitar (OYH457R) number 2 and the Felicia diesel back then; I joined in January 2018 when I owned the now CJPTServices owned which floatylight relieved me of, and the wife’s corolla.

I lurked a bit before joining up in August 2008, at that time I had a Volvo 240 estate and a Frogeye Sprite. Didn't have the Sprite long as I was too big for it and the Volvo went early in 2009 as I was putting too many miles on it at 25mpg.

I was driving Garethj’s octavia - the Autoshite dealer sticker led me here 😆

As somebody who only bothered with the internet at work (and for work use) I read about this place in a copy of Practical Classics whilst on holiday in Greece in 2017. Still have the Ibiza, MGB GT and MGB Roadster. The rest is history.

Back in 2015 I had this as my daily (slightly pineappled)2012-07-22-197.thumb.jpg.51b4bf1b288e5829c9d8390929f2ee58.jpg

and had just purchased this W124 300. In JRG too (although it was actually silver). I loved it, but soon found out that not regularly running an older car does them no favours.

Was that pic taken in Hollands Wood by any chance?

Yes, I believe so. June 2013.  It was a long weekend, camping with my son. My daughter and husband were also there but travelled by their 1.4 Focus MK1 3 door - which had about 45K miles on it then. It now has 177K and isn't even going rusty though it does burn a bit of oil.

Around the time i joined this would have been my 'fleet' as found on google street view...20200930_213044.thumb.jpg.f4e7dfd68786dbed4e77dc825f802d0d.jpg

The clio had head gasket failure, the merc shat its cam chain not long afterwards, and the micra was brilliant. I had bought the micra on ebay whilst slightly refreshed one night, paid £550 for it with a full years ticket! It was surplus to requirements though, so i sold it to the girl in the local chinese takeaway. It was the morning after i sold the micra that the merc decided to self destruct! Sods law

Like others I lurked for a while before joining, probably in the Alfa 156 days when I first discovered the beige... also from the pages of PC, and from the blue forum of which I was a member first.

When I actually joined the beige in 2014 (I thought it had been longer than that!) I was driving a nearly new BMW 1-Series, living in a brand new magnolia box of a house, and was basically unhappy...

C8B4D970-E0BA-48FA-A25C-95408C6B554A.jpeg

Since joining AS now I have 10 old cars in various states of disrepair, live in a slightly ramshackle yet colourful old Bungalow and am generally very happy with my lot...

AS has a lot to answer for. Well AS and a change of wife...  but mainly AS ;)
