I'm more of a saloon fan than most people, but I really can't understand why Fiat even bothered selling these over here, given that the number of people who would want one would be in single figures.

In any case, that's extremely cheap for anything with a 69 reg.

I had no idea you could get them here as a saloon

Given that it's come from Arnie I wonder whether it's one of those weird Irish imports like the Nissan Tiiiidas?

Got me looking at them. Pretty grim but tbf I'd have one over a Dacia anyday.

This is a Cat N. Spot the perfectly* colour matched repair. Tbf it might be like that out of the factory.

Presumably a 1.4 n/a FIRE that is no ball of fire in something this heavy.

Possibly RHD for the Irish market as they love saloons. Can't imagine it'll make much difference in initial production costs to make RHD saloon when there is a RHD hatch and estate.

Quite possibly, especially with A.C's form for bringing Irish stuff over here, but quite an oddity.

Anyway, it's gone already, so someone must have been keen for it to sell within a few hours.

When my son bought his Tipo hatchback in 2020 as a hugely discounted unsold pre-registered 2017 model with delivery miles only, we had seen a few adverts from UK dealers trying to dispose of  selling brand new RHD white Tipo saloons which we had not realised were a thing. The previous 'Tipo' saloon was called a Tempra.  Clearly, Fiat could not be bothered to have Tempra badges manufactured this time.

He part exchanged his Tipo a few months ago after a totally reliable, very economical (diesel), comfortable  but somewhat boring 3  years of ownership.

Nice find. This looks like late registration madness to me. When did they officially stop making those?

I think the Prarie was replaced by the Serena in 1995.

Ex De Gaulle era government car.

registered on October 2, 1965 in the name of the “Presidency of the Republic”, 55, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris. It is equipped with some specific features exclusive to General de Gaulle's cars: side sun visors for the rear seats, front flag holders hidden in the bumper, ribbon holder on the dashboard, and document holder.

Slightly underwhelming 'special features', lol.

They got caught up in the crossfire between Nissan UK and Nissan Motor GB. For whatever reason NMGB didn't continue selling them, so they had an unusually short official life here - maybe a couple of years?

Brotherwood continued to offer disabled conversions on them, I think they used imports from somewhere like Cyprus. I've seen a couple of other Prairies in the same L...NYD batch of registrations, all with the drop-down floor, cut-out in the rear bumper etc.

Those Tipo Saloons were an official Fiat offering and not just Arnie Shark, they only came in low spec 1.4 form (I like a saloon so could have been interested, but for that). They seemed to be getting knocked out for £9,995 pre-reg right from the off. So whilst they were available across the dealership network, I would not be shocked if they were unsold cars from Ireland or Cyprus or wherever.

Been for sale for ages. I probably have the parts to fix most of it. Happy to view it for anyone interested.

So Mme de Gaulle decided in 1970 to replace the DS with a 1974 GS.  Hmmm...

yeah, the stories around both cars seem a little suspect, I'd like to see the paper trail.........!
