CF Pez, with lovely* front spoiler. For legal reasons I'm tagging @eddyramrod £799 start, in Stoke-On-Bent. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166499731142?hash=item26c42846c6:g:LgQAAOSwKC5lbelZ

Yes... thank you.  Pretty sure we've seen this one, and not that long ago.  And rejected it for a lot of very good reasons.

He probably wants around 2 grand for it. The wheels are worth 600 on their own, good buy I'd say. Traction light will be a cheap fix but with corrosion visible the tank will need replacing soon if it has been yet, and that's not cheap.

Mental isn’t it. From my shit memory of speaking to multiple clients all day every day, I seem to recall this being someone who had just had their car PPF’d themselves and called to declare it, so not the situation on PH but goes to show it’s happening more than once.

People don’t seem to grasp the whole modified thing, regularly see people refer to things like paintwork how @wuvvum did above, whether things are recorded with places like DVLA means naff all, the definition of modification is to change something. If a car is BRG from the factory and you have it painted lime green it’s still non standard paintwork, you in that scenario wouldn’t even need to notify DVLA but it’d still invalidate your insurance if you don’t declare it, and there are loads of insurers that the second you mention it would end the call.

So what happens if you buy something you don't know has had a colour change?

Sounds like another case of how to rob the public.

Like the bullshit about your premium is going up because it's been 20 years since you had an accident so you must be due one!

Our the one with 23 years NCB ( circa £15k in payments) has minor bump dropped to 3 years NCB (£700 payout) in the 2 years to regain full NCB premium went up £800 .

Not bad odds-on accident they ended up £100 in profit plus the profits they made on the £15 k they'll have invested over the 10 years of being their client.

Or the agreed value £3.5k that their "expert " ( his words) assessor said was only worth £2.5k  which sold for £3.5 k damaged at salvage auction before client had even banked the payout!

Insurance cos are so hard done to, being forced to ,make a living this way.

Unlike their clients who have it so easy.

Jesus, I’m not here to argue with someone’s gripes with whatever issues they’ve experienced. I literally just responded to a vehicle suggested for a member who quite publicly posts his struggles with finding insurance by querying his ‘good’ quote to ensure the modifications had been declared as I had doubts they would have been at the price mentioned.

Just FYI, UK motor insurance currently runs at a loss.

Wasn't aimed at you. But the insurance industry in general who you decided to defend.

So my question what if you don't know it's had a colour change?

Not my gripes just cases I know to be true.

As for running at a loss I reiterate ,are these companies being forced to be in that line of work?

The law abing motorist has no choice payup or break the law, best you can do is shop around.

Also if their hard up why do they give such massive discounts to new customers. Rather than a fair price all round.

That's true, but it's partially the industry's own fault for wasting vast amounts of money on things like comically overpriced hire cars.

Advertising too the TV adverts alone must cost thousands upon thousands & some of the pointless procedures/duplication carried out in their ( approved repair centres) I hear of (first hand). would make your hair curl.

Let's assume for a moment, that the payouts equal the premiums, and therefore they appear to make no profit.  Is this what they are telling us. They actually pay out more than they take?  Maybe they need to look at thier costs? Buy up all the bodyshops, train up a new generation of apprentices, buy a fleet of loan cars, so they are not screwed on hire costs.

Or maybe that's not the whole story

Now, on the law of averages, there's money coming in and going out every single day, and on average all the crashes happen, halfway through the 12 month premium. So for 6 months, they've had all the premiums sitting in their bank. On some policies, the crash will be on day 2, and on others on day 363, but on average, its got to be exactly 6 months.

What do they do with the premiums for 6 months? They invest it. If they made some good investment decisions, they'd make more profit, and if there was a stock market crash, they'd loose money.

Or is that too hard too?

Had a non-fault accident, and my insurers tried to put the price up the next year because 'if you have one accident it's likely you'll have another shortly afterwards'.

I was actually 7 miles away from my car at the time at work.  Oh, they even managed to record the accident twice, once each in different months, so 5 years of trying to explain to different insurance companies.

I was run off the road a few years back following another car on a 50 mph dual carriageway way with average speed cameras, as we reached the far end ( chevrons on inside lane) a 4x4 that had been creeping past decided to move left into meet forcing me off the road  ( tyre rash on front enge of drivers door, front indicator ripped out passenger wheel bent as I hit kerbs round storm drain)  police attended said I was blameless ( didn't prosecute other driver) circa £800 damage scuffed tyre on 4x4 other drivers wife ( front seat passenger) said it was my fault as i obviously wasnt going to slow down to let them in & i turned right onto them!

4 months later insurance decided it's 50-50 so no increase in premium as your not covered for own repairs!

Not true, it’s a shambles at the moment. Worst I’ve seen it in over ten years.

Once again, all I’ve done is state facts in the interests of LBF not buying a car on the basis of being able to insure it at a reasonable cost if he’d forgotten to declare the modifications.

From the way that reads I get the impression the seller is one of our friends from east of Ipswich, rather than a thicko.

The Netherlands Peugeot 405 x4 SRi. 1990. 185500 km

Advert says there are only 2 in the Netherlands in this spec. It says the 4WD is switchable. I had a GLx4 that was semi permanent . So maybe that is what the advert means. There is no actual knob or switch. It has stood still for more than 20 years, thus there is still some work to be done. FWD  system works well, the car has almost 2 years APK (MOT).

Price € 2950.

Only 5 images and most not great. Why cannot they do better?

I like very much.

mercedes cl 600 coupe 2001 year | eBay

You'll need all of your brave pills for this, I reckon. Can't be too far from the Mersey though, so if it does run/drive you can throw those rear chrome arch covers straight into it.
