egg Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I bought an old impact driver, but wherever I put the silver ring, the head only seems to turn right not left, is this a typical problem?
Dead_E23 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I have one like that somewhere - not seen it for ages. I have a dim recollection that you have to pull the black bit out and twist it or something, then a different set of grooves engages with the peg that turns them. egg 1
egg Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Cheers, the black bit doesn't want to seem to come out, I'll take it to the Kent meet on Sunday, I bet there's a shiter there that will know!
Dead_E23 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Typically, that video was posted whilst I was out digging around in my shed for mine! I found a newer one that I don't even remember buying. Push and twist is how it works too, but you shouldn't need a vice. It's not a tool I use very frequently, tbh. I think I bought it so it was there if I ever needed to unscrew the door hinges on my Land Rover, but I can't imagine using it for many other things.
egg Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Thanks Eddie, do you want to humour my idiocy any further?? Video.
Eddie Honda Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Not humouring, trying to give an answer. I think it does not changeover because somehow it needs to be pushed in further??
egg Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 That's my feeling, it won't go in far enough, I'm not sure you can take these apart and lube them?
Eddie Honda Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 If you can take it apart it probably won't be easy to get back together because of bastard strong spring. Bigger vice/hammer might persuade it.
Kiltox Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 https://www.toolstation.com/impact-driver-bit-set/p90581 They’re not expensive new if you can’t get it shifting
egg Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I think this one appears to be fecked, I've now got it stuck in the middle not turning either way. Wasn't too dear, but a bit of a gamble with old tools. I don't think it was the seller on the make. Only reason I didn't buy a new cheapy was mixed reviews on whichever one I looked at. Purpose was extra help with Invacar screws where I don't have power at the lock-up. Thanks all.

Dead_E23 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Leave it to soak in diesel for a few days and then try it.
dozeydustman Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Sounds like it might not have been as tight as they often are. Did it make any kind of a 'crack!' as it undid? Not so much a crack, more a click.

FakeConcern Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I asked on my Moodus thread, but no answers. Anyone know where the switch for the boot light is on 2004 (54 reg) Renault Modus is? Light stayed on and flat battery resulted. Bulb removed for now, but I'd like a proper fix. I think it's based on Mk3 Clio so may be the same
Eddie Honda Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 The Toolstation one is crap....butter metal..Exactly why I'm a posh cunt and said before to get a Koken one.
SiC Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 https://www.toolstation.com/impact-driver-bit-set/p90581 They’re not expensive new if you can’t get it shiftingUtter heap of shit that tool is. The only reason I kept it was the socket and bits fits nicely on my Makita Impact Wrench. Handle gone into the bottom of the useless tool toolbox.

Tamworthbay Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 I got £120 for the Puma but I think that was because it was a Puma, it was rustier than a rusty thing and the engine was running but utterly borked.
Aston Martin Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 My friend wants a 206cc, believe me I tried to get her into an MG TF and it ain't happening. She's on-board with a Streetka too... Anyway, I've found a 'decent' 206CC good spec and it has alot of factory options. I'm trying to find a price list or a PDF brochure online but I can't find anything. I'm sure Parkers used to list optional extra prices, but I can't find shit.
Jazoli Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 206cc's are actually alright, most come with all the options. Streetka's are shit, as are MGTF's, can't really go wrong with the Peugeot, they are pretty robust, easy to fix and don't rot.
