Can anyone make use of a pair of Perkins LD-series 4.238 engines?

post-3568-0-38176300-1519392864_thumb.jpg

The Red one was removed from a Combined Harvester about 20 years ago, and was running before removal. It has a fucking massive flywheel, so would be ideal as a generator engine or similar. It sits on it's own frame with engine mountings, so could be run just by being bolted down as is.

The other one was removed from a Range Rover classic, and was last run about 10 years ago. It has a vacuum pump that the red one doesn't, and the inlet/exhaust arrangement is different. It comes with the adaptor ring and clutch that it had as part of the Range Rover installation. I can't be arsed to remove it and sell it seperately.

Neither have starter motors. Both have alternators and are otherwise complete. They are both astonishingly heavy. The red one must be all of half-a-tonne as it sits there, and the RR one not a lot less.

I had all sorts of plans for these. None of which are ever going to occur. Currently located in a dry barn in LD7 postcode area. If you have a decent use for them, free. Yes, I could probably weigh them in for £100, but that's effort, and a waste.

The following is MGB GT stuff, though will no doubt fit other British tin of the era like Minis and that:

Headlamp ring

TEX chrome driver door mirror

Plus two tailgate stays, one is new in Austin Rover branded packet. Part no. AHH 7899.

£20 the lot anyone?

Presumably needs to be off road for SORN validity?

Yes. I just need to hide the rover somewhere for a little while as it's potentially going to end up a little busy here for a few weeks or so.

I have a space in a communal car park at a block of flats (off road) in Herne Bay, Kent. Bit of a trek from Reading Bramz, but you can have it for a month, costs me £20 a month, but gratis to shiter of your standing!

I have nothing on my drive at the moment. Might be a bit far away to be convenient but you can put it here If you want

Hmmm both very kind offers, distance is no issue really as I get cheap trains now anyway.

Brighton might be slightly easier though...if that's alright Barrett?

Cheers egg, really appreciate it too.

Looking for a good 1.9 Xud td engine,or cylinder head in good nick to repair a Peugeot 806 with a cracked cylinder head? Anybody got anything they'd be prepared to sell? Would be willing to travel if needed. Thanks.

I just donated a probably-good 1.9TD engine to D Spares and Tyres, who may be willing/interested in parting with it.I also discovered a 1.9TD head when clearing out my shed last week. It is without cam, cam caps, bucket followers or shims, but if you can use it, it's yours for peanuts. Would probably Parcel-post for under £15. Will get some photos tonight.

I would definitely be interested in the cylinder head please. If you could post some photos that would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I'm now lighter by two Citroens so I have an empty garage if you want. I think you're over Reading way, right? The garage is GU16. I can even give you a lift back home in your old AX.

I'm having a clear-out / tidy up, which is completely my own* idea.

Got 4 Autoshite calendars, 2013 14 15 16.

Nothing missing, no scribbles etc.

Free plus p&p - probably about three squids, or can keep and bring to a meet up, as long as it's not toooo far in the future.

PM me mofos!

Not sure if this is quite the right thread for this request, but is there anyone who would be prepared to go and have a look at a car in Bishops Stortford for me? Beer tokens can be exchanged.

I am near stortford but am tied up this weekend. i can possibly do one evening during the week but it will be a race against darkness!

anyone else available sooner?

also send me details via pm in case i can help out ;-)

Old Man wants to compression test the Volvo for some reason. Can I use someone’s kit (again)?

Posted

Hi all,

I have lusted after a BX since I was a kid and the urge is now reaching melting point.

I usually buy the first turd that comes my way, to try and stop that I am setting my heart on getting a decent 8v GTi (don't like the bodykits on the 16v ones), so if anybody knows of one I'd be keen to hear about it. I have cash waiting for the right car.

I viewed one but it was an overpriced turd with a rotten boot floor, ABS light on and a knackered pompe. I then agreed to buy another before discovering that it too was a turd that had been passed from dealer to dealer with rusty 'new' spheres....

Thanks in advance....

Josh

Great cars. This is mine 52,000 miles and owned my parents from new!

The story is in Six-cylinder Motoring notes starting P47 post 1386.

Right lads/esses, I'm braving you lot before I face Facebook/ Gumtree.

With the Scirocco running the AFN from the doomed Sharan is spare.

This is a 50,000 mile 1.9tdi AFN block with all ancillaries and ECU module. It came out of the 110k Sharan as seen in my main thread. Ran before removal and drove on/ off the recovery truck. It was a replacement at 60,000 miles after a cambelt change went wrong at a VW main dealer, and as such was main dealer supplied direct from VW in about 2006 (I have all the documentation of the resulting legal dispute). AFN means it is is one of the last pre-PD, so 110 bhp. VAG tuners like them as they're very strong and tractable. They're often also used in VW T4 conversions.

I'm looking for £400 (£350 with shiters discount), which covers most of my costs.

Cheeep Chinese Dash Cam Now claimed

This is what the video quality is like. Close up ( ie if you run into the back of someone) the quality is good enough to see the number plate.

No memory card (takes micro SD) But has the mount, very loooooong lead and works well enough - £8 posted anywhere in the UK except weird and fucking wonderful islands in the arse end of Scotcland. Then Hermes bum the living daylights out of me.

PM me or "quote" this post or I may miss you if you have a burning desire for it.
