Many tail lifts on lutons are rated at 500Kg

I reckon this is how I’d move it. Perhaps someone like Hertz where you can pick up from one location and drop off at a second.

Even a sprinter with three motorbike ramps? I have one that someone can have a loan of.

I suspect I missed earlier in the thread... where is this disaster of a vehicle?

Aberdeenshire in general, if in this plan/idea, you end up removing/cutting off her existing drive belt, there should be a couple spare in the box of bits I sent down with her, hopefully those are still with REV after all this time :)

I always thought the three-wheel design was chosen because of the UK's complex and often silly vehicle licensing system (as is and as was).  Our law defines motor tricycles and motor quadricycles differently, which creates in various scenarios in which it is legally preferable or less complicated to have three wheels rather than four.  The Invacars no doubt got caught up in that, resulting in the choice of the tricycle layout.  One only has to look at the sheer number of three-wheelers made in the UK - lots - and compare it with numbers of three-wheelers made in other jurisdictions - far fewer - to see the issue in action.

Countries such as France that have a specific registration class for 'light cars', low output and small vehicles with any number of wheels, invariably produce four-wheelers.

Just a thought about something else: wouldn't having the wheel at the front give the Invacar a tighter turning circle?  I'd have thought single-wheel-at-the-back cars would turn like oil tankers, whereas having the wheel at the front would make it turn on a penny.

@Dobloseven states pretty well why most Invalid Vehicles are Delta layout 3 wheelers :)

Surely the single front wheel would be lighter to turn and easier to adapt to the various different control arrangements. Many Invacar users were severely disabled perhaps from fighting for King and country,or victims of a debilitating disease.LBF points out occasionally that a Model 70 could theoretically be driven by someone with one hand and nothing else

there are no rules or regulations that say how many wheels an Invalid Carriage can/cannot have, indeed a few 4 wheeled Carriages existed out there the Harding produced some in the pre-war era, See IJ9670 on the previous pages for example, Paddy Hopkirk's first car

PXL_20240928_093050437.jpg

and in the immediate post war era there was the Larmar car

82083025_10159112272652388_2404419844461035520_n.jpg

but as @Dobloseven states, having 2 wheels up front complicated coupling special control schemes to it, and also added weight to the steering itself, even a Model 70's steering can be relatively heavy if your having to dry steer it

imagine this setup (a single hand control Tiller steering Model 70), but on a Mini, and having to dry steer that, the resistance of 2 tyres and an A series engine on top!

Can you drift a three wheeler out of interest? I guess due to lack of power it would need to be in the wet if even possible at all.

You've clearly never seen a Tippen Delta Intergrale tearing up a Welsh rally stage.

Having listened to the latest Smith + Sniff podcast last night, there are dozens of classic errors for you to correct @LightBulbFun.

But the question remains, whose car did they spot on the M6 last week?

I was going to send Dez a pm but as there is a lot of genuine concern here (amongst the trolls and piss takers) I might as well post it here for all.

I am currently house sitting for a friend, that ends around the 10th which is when my current medical treatment is also scheduled to end. It will probably continue but I should be able to schedule a break for a bit to allow me to do other things. After the 10th I will need a few days at home to sort things there. The big unknown is when my neighbours funeral will be which I will attend.

As soon as I have a few days free, the Invacar will be dropped off at the FOD where @Six-cylinder has kindly offered a drop off point. This will need some planning as I will be heading back to Kettering to collect a car for a friend, on to Sheffield to drop the car off and collect the Vitesse I bought then home, that way justifying most of the fuel spend on the delivery.

So there we have the latest, no fixed date due to medical/funeral but soon. Watch this space....

Once more with feeling - I genuinely don't think there's any piss taking here.  Jeez, @Talbotis clearly trying to help by asking about weights and measures.  Others have made suggestions about how to ease the burden.

Overreacting is, and I understand this, a mechanism for trying to make people feel uncomfortable and be quiet, but I only see helpful contributions here.

Perhaps one of us can help get it from the Field to London for Dez? Or at least get Dez to the Field to drive it home?

Come on, B.I, stop picking holes here.

Saabnut has been an absolute trooper in getting the penultimate pieces of the puzzle in place , despite his own health issues along with the death of his mate.

The key thing here is Dez is edging ever closer to getting the motor on the road thanks to the selfless attitudes of several decent folk on here.

Onwards and upwards.

The people you mention are indeed some of the genuine people I referred to. There is also plenty of piss taking, re read the thread if you wish, but I would rather move on. I believe the final stage from the FOD to CentralSmoke is organised by another genuine AS member so all that is needed is a bit of patience.

I really don't think that's fair.  I thanked and acknowledged his efforts a few pages back.  [DezMode]

I understand first hand what an Oncologist is for, and one of my very best friends died not so long ago.  Again - it's easy to try and paint this as me being a cunt, but I'm not.

For what it is worth, I don't think you are a cunt, just that you tend to labour a point after it has reached a conclusion which can make you look like one :-) . Seriously I think your heart is in the right place, and you are genuinely concerned about others. I don't like your posting style a lot of the time, but that is my problem, not yours. If you changed you would not be you.

Also, for clarification, I do not have cancer but my treatment is conducted in the same department. The outlook is good for a fat old git 8)

Edited for accuracy 😉

I love a discussion. There’s very little more stimulating, apart from my other hobby which is chasing Eastern European women. I’m far, far gentler in real life - you’d possibly even like me 🤷‍♂️. Some people do!

It was never about labouring a point, more that the point was either being ignored or badly countered. It took Talbot to absolutely dismantle Dez’s defence for any notice to be taken, and even now he still thinks he’s right.

I just hope, genuinely, that he doesn’t learn the hard way.

Obviously at times like this, people become partisan and start siding with one party or the other. I’m not Mr Popular so will get rounded on. But sometimes you have to say unpopular things because you believe that to be the right thing to do.

I suspect I am going to be popping up to the FoD before too long, so as long as @Mrs6C is happy for me to do so, I think with a few additional dimensions taken from her Model70, I might* have a surprisingly simple solution to moving a model 70 on the road without the inherent significant risk of actually driving one in traffic.  (something I would not do for all the tea in china..)

Probably a bit late to the party but if for any reason things go awry,it can stay undercover here with me for a bit here in sunny old Colne on its journey down south. In fact, if it fitted in the back of my L3H2 Boxer van, I could probably get the bugger down south at some point as I'm in and out of London a fair bit and my van is euro6 so its no hardship to take that instead of the XC90!

(somewhere there is a picture on here of an actual FX4 from period road test, similarly being pushed to its limit, and the amount of bending the tyre itself was experiencing I was impressed it stayed on the rim!)

<PEDANT ALERT>

He's having to use a proper greased up skid pan because there's no way an auto TX2 would drift in the dry when fitted with the factory spec Dunlops. I am impressed the the wheel trims didn't fall off though. Even on a skid pan to provoke that level of lean and slide the driver will have had to lock it down into first and done a Scandi flick to provoke that amount of lean and slide.

An unladen manual Nissan powered TX running on budget bespoke hackney tyres WILL drift and slide easily on a wet road. As a bonus, it's also super easy to keep drifting as the steering rack is super quick. The main handling issue with an unladen TX, either auto or manual, is that they're a nightmare to drive in the snow.

@LightBulbFun I really am imploring you to pull out the stops and do all you can to find an insurance company that will cover you on a TX. You'll not just be buying a vehicle, but also somewhere to safely leave an electric wheelchair. Your quality of life will improve more than you could possibly imagine and maintenance will be cheaper than running a ten year old Focus as there's an entire infrastructure in your city based around keeping the TX on the road.

I could have a Nissan powered TX parked outside your house for £1000 by Friday night.
