^^ that may actually be all of the Reliants accounted for right there. Wow on the Reliant scale.

My last count was around 320 since passing the test in 1980, or was it 1981? 1981! Meh!

Im at 18 cars in 15 years driving. Most expensive was £3000 and the cheapest £151

I lost count at 60 since 1996. I was up to 14 within four years of passing my test though. Incredibly, I have purchased ONE car this year so far. I think that's a record.

Posted

I tried to do this a couple of years ago if I remember it was just over 7 cars a year.... I have been driving for 36 years this year and it shows no sign of slowing down as I have already bought 3 cars this year :)

Met up with an old mate over the weekend. His brother, also a good mate has started buying and selling cars on the side. Amongst his small crop of cars is a Blue K11 Micra Ally that has 5-doors and P/S. Took a pic and showed Ma, she has expressed serious interest in it. Plus it's only £250. It's exactly the same car as she's got now but with more doors and easier steering

I've been very good since 2007, however being really, really, old before that is a different story.

Since 2007 I have had four Volvo 240 estates, two Fiat Pandas, two Mk 1 Fiestas, a Bond Bug, a Frogeye Sprite, a Fiat Barchetta, an MX5, a Morgan 4/4.

Currently got Suzuki Alto, TR7 Convertible and A35 Convertible

Last week I was offloading an old cooker & printer at the local recycling centre (not a dump, oh no) when the lady behind me shoved a laptop in the skip. I assumed it must have been properly borked, but waited until she turned round and nabbed it anyway. Back in the car, hmm... 17" Toshiba Satellite, oldish spec but still dual-core, no cracks in the screen or keys missing... once home I duly threw £7 at eBay for a charger just in case. I still expected it to be terminally faulty, but figured I could plunder the RAM for my other lappy, and make a few pennies selling the rest for spares.

Charger arrived this morning - there is literally nothing whatsoever wrong with it. OK, it's running Vista, but even that's not running as slow as I'd expect it to. How something like this is considered skip-worthy I really cannot fathom. Once I've got it dual-booting into a skinny Linux distro, it'll easily be the fastest thing in the house.

Oh, and she was very lucky that it ended up with me rather than someone less scrupulous. Not only did she leave the HDD in place, there were enough documents and scans on there to facilitate a full-on identity theft with no effort at all. Not to mention about eleventy hundred baby & toddler photos.

That is shocking on her part, and that sounds like the same Laptop I have, 6 year old Toshiba Satellite 17 inch screen. I hope to get another 6 years out of it.

Also bugger I wish you mentioned it before, I have a spare power pack here you could of HAD gratis.

How many cars? Before I became old and very boring I usually had a new car every month or so. It wasn't until I got married and a double garage that I slowed down on the cars and sped up on the bikes!

When my wife and I got together, she had a mk3 Escort estate that she'd had for a few years, before that, she had a Fiesta mk1 (first car) and a Metro. Within a month she had swapped the Escort for a Dutton kitcar and was driving the second Saab (900, first was a 9000) or my Merc.

I used to get really bored with cars so I'd go and get something fun/impractical  then get annoyed with it for being fun/impractical so I'd get something practical and boring... rinse and repeat!

Had a "moment" with SWMBO a while ago about my shite buying antics. I swear I've calmed down a lot since my single days but in the fourteen years we've been together, I've still seem to have gone through 36 cars. And a bus or two. And a tractor she knows nothing about. Maybe a forklift. And a wrecker. Better stop now.

My 16 year old great - niece has a running but tatty Aprilia RS125 she is doing up ready to ride on her 17th birthday. So glad she didn't plump for something Chinese ( but probably no less reliable).

I just purchased a huge box of engine parts, suspension components, fairing panels, brakes and discs, and five wheels (3 with good tyres), very, very cheaply, which I'll drop round to her once I've picked them up. She'll be over the moon, and i know she will be out in the garage all weekend cleaning it all, and swapping all the good parts over. It will be a good start to her learning how to maintain her own bike. Nothing like the enthusiasm of youth!

Rather poor effort on my part since 2002...

1993 Citroen AX 1.0 Debut
1998 Ford Fiesta 1.25 LX

2000 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

2001 Honda CR-V 2.0 LS

2005 Peugeot 307 SW 1.6D

2005 Vauxhall Astra Bertone Coupe 1.6

1998 Renault Kangoo 1.9D

2012 Kia C'eed 1.4 VR-7

1988 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 L

1994 Rover 220 SLi

1998 Mazda 323F 1.5 LXi

1996 Volvo 940 2.3LPT SE

1988 Ford Escort 1.4 L

1994 Rover 220 SLi (again)

Not counting the Y10 on loan earlier this year and 3 Honda CG125s.

13 (14 if you count having the 220 twice) in as many years.  Incidentally, you can tell whereabouts in that list when I suddenly saw the light.  Quite ashamed of how long it took to realise that shite was the way forwards though.

Just been up the road wiv da mutts and I had to do my daily stop to talk to this lovely little puppy that has moved into the road. He's fucking gorgeous and about 14 weeks old. Every time he sees me a wee's himself which I take to be a sign that he likes me.

Anyway, talking to this little mutt (Buddy) and this woman walks up the road wearing very little in the way of actual clothes and she is the proud possessor of the BEST LEGS EVEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They seemed to go on for miles and were all brown and lovely.... the rest of her was most pleasant as well.

Turns out she lives next door to the puppy and we spent a good ten minutes chatting and having a bit of a flirt and I couldn't make my mind up where to look: Legs awesome, face pretty, boobs cracking, and the bare midriff slim and most yummy.

After ten minutes I had to go as I was going cross-eyed and my kegs were uncomfortable!

Oh I do hope it's sunny again tomorrow.....

Around 150 motors over 12 years by now I think. I've only got vague recollections/ flashbacks of some eg prompted by a screwed up V5c failing out of a car mag whilst I'm sat on the loo.

Yo Skizzer,,,,,, finally got to see the bird and owner in person today and you're not far off the money. It's a magpie....a fucking magpie. The old couple raised it from young last year when they found it half dead in the garden, with plans to let it go when it was big enough, which they did, except it returns home every day to its (now) outside cage to eat and sleep. I never knew magpies could talk, or imitate all sorts of whistles and chirps , learn something new everyday an all that. The plan is that it will return to the wild in time.
