What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

You have all read about the devastating floods in parts of Spain. Most of the news here is very sad. Political infighting, folks  loosing homes, no water or electricity etc.

But this one is a bit of good news and is car related. Left submerged in an underground car park, covered in mud and water for days. This old girl still works.

Would not want to clean the upholstery afterwords would you?

I had the S35, which I think was just the "grey office drone" version of your yellow one. I remember it being a really well built phone, beautifully ergonomic. I loved playing with the ringtone composer. Did yours have the 3D maze game?

It was the first phone I ever used mobile internet on - for just £10,000 of credit it would download the top five news headlines from the BBC in no more time than it took to boil the kettle seven or eight times, very futuristic.

It does have the maze game, yes - Wayout it's called.  It also seems to be waterproof - or at least there's a membrane between the back cover and the body of the phone, and the back is held on by a twist lock which pulls the panel down tight.  Not sure if the S35 was the same?

I did try accessing the internet, but I got a "server not found" message sadly.

Maybe already been posted elsewhere. Francis Bourgeois (that train guy) enlists Chris Harris' help to chase down a steam train.

Warmed my cold, dead heart. I wish I loved anything as much as that lad loves trains 😂

@hairnet I asked about this car at work today, two built and this was the second second one ordered by a customer. Full carbon fibre and honeycomb body (as per the AC CRS) with the Lotus engine and they went well, the first one used as a demo car would easily wheelspin in third apparently. (Mclaren made the carbon fibre dashboards for the early CRS cars.)

another fantastic evening with my 2 best friends in the local wetherspoons

the best decision of my life, was after the breakup with my ex staying and continuing to live in Peterlee

i've never known somewhere to instantly feel like home, it makes me really happy living here i must admit

for all the stick it gets off people

i just can't see why, i don't see much wrong with it and i've built a life here now with some great friends

technically i don't actually live in Peterlee, i live in Horden, but they're attached and often classed as the same town

but yes, tonight really set it into stone, this is home for me now

had a great night at Andy's man club too, that's also probably one of the best decisions i've ever made

My friends Marina 1.8TC coupe would do that so it's in good company.

There's a dark blue Audi A1 parked outside my office window. Reminds me a bit of my parents' old Talbot Horizon (my curent avatar) with that solid c pillar.

I quite like it.

I don't know how true it is but apparently a friend of a friend of a friend (etc) owns the plate AS 1, been in the family for years. A certain Lord of Shit Electronics wanted to buy it and kept offering more and more ludicrous sums, which were all refused.

I went to see a BX about a year ago. Guy wanted 800€. It wasn’t worth that. I offered 650, despite not being worth that either. Guy insisted it’s firm, someone else is coming to take a look, and if it doesn’t sell he and his son want to restore it. I know there are like two more people in the entire country possibly interested, and they won’t buy in this condition at that money, smelled bs and walked away.

Guess what’s still for sale, now with no MOT, leaky water pump, knackered fuel pump and expired LPG test? Now 630€. Worth scrap money now, but advertised as firm. 😆

Today I was on a train into Birmingham and went past Bescot freight yard, in which I spotted a diesel loco in Biffa Waste colours.

Its name?  "The Flying Dustman".  🤣

Just got a letter from the DVLA acknowledging that they're processing my licence renewal, and will be contacting my psychiatrist. Its been months since I sent the form back!

Perhaps I will be back on the road by the new year!
