My mother had a lighter from the pound shop. It was adorned with an image of a golden retriever.

It said " kitten."

A few weeks ago, on one of my regular evening bike rides along the back lanes of The Arse End of Norfolk™, I espied this beauty sitting in a driveway.

20230629_203404.thumb.jpg.ca88e38e9a9f179a7c97f5387e7fc655.jpg

Went back the same way this evening, and the house owner was outside mowing the lawn, so I stopped and asked if the R4 was his.  He answered in the affirmative, so I asked if I could have  a look under the bonnet - I wanted to check the routing of a few bits which I think are wrong on mine.  I wasn't sure how he'd react, but he was quite happy to let me have a look, we had a quick natter about Renault 4s, rust and pogweaseling (his is quite badly faded on the roof and bonnet), and I left with an open invitation to pop round in my 4 whenever I want.  Sometimes I love being into shit old cars.

How about this guy from 1941? Makes you realise how little casual fashion has changed.

By not pissing about trying to refit the boot lid trim on the Xsara after the 2nd time it fell off, I've gained some space! Can put the bag of tent poles down the middle and they poke into a handy access panel for the locks and wiring!

Bit extreme for a set of wiper blades - and yes, I am fully aware I am a child for finding this funny when I found it yesterday

I've not had a garage/workshop that I could fit a vehicle in for twenty odd years so any car related bothering has been done outside come rain or shine but things are changing as I am moving to a gaff that has land around it that can accommodate a modest structure.

It's taken a bit of ground work and the employment of some clever tradespeople but I am well pleased with the results so far.

It's large enough to store two smallish cars side by side (Boris the Morris Minor and possibly a Morris 8 series E that i have my eye on) then I have the same space again at the far end for benches, tools etc and my scruffy two seater Chesterfield and other man cave trinkets.

It's still requires insulating and wiring up then the addition of flooring in the eaves above the man cave quarters for added storage of tat I can't let go of.

That space looks amazing. I expect to see the Minor done in no time as long as you don't spend too much time on the sofa!

I took the passenger door trim off of my first mk2 Cav to transport a freebie kitchen worktop from Birmingham to Yorkshire. I had to remove the gearknob if I needed reverse gear...

Made it home from holiday with a temporary souvenir.  Just for two weeks then off up North to deliver to its new home.

Brilliant! Hope you didn't encounter too many problems then, how does it drive?

@Schaefft She drives well,  slight squeeking from somewhere at low speed that is probably more brakes than belts as it doesn't appear reving it in neutral.  Wheels didn't seem particularly warm when I got back though.

Just been back out to try and get twilight pictures but was thwarted by local weather.

20230812_205140.thumb.jpg.45fd1dac3f35fc5facdc492a2fea8268.jpg20230812_205202.thumb.jpg.c4ee6e671e7ea85d3e1556042e4ead9f.jpg20230812_205356.thumb.jpg.1002e1518fd96c32209b96add85f6514.jpg

Tried a bit of Citrobatics without complaint but it did then drop suddenly when I knocked the engine off in normal mode.

Windows, NSF and OSR appear to work perfectly.  Drivers window drops fine but only lifts with the one touch dot and not every time, switch gets warm in use and is currently loose for further fiddling.  NSR doesn't appear to work but is probably the switch.  Will borrow one from the 405 to check.

Boot struts are dead, tailgate is really heavy without assistance.  Radio is disconnected, I can have a go at fitting it if you like?  Keypad is still connected, should I disconnect it before it causes chaos?  AC doesn't seem to work but controls do.  Can't seem to get the CC to engage and the airbag lights on.

Still think it's ace.

That's great news overall. Feel free to have a go and see whether the switch is the culprit and disconnect the keypad if it usually is a worry (I don't mind using it if it's trouble free, it's part of the experience). About the radio: I didn't know it even came with one. Worth checking if it works, just makes me wonder if there is a reason why it was removed. Might cause a battery drain?

Mrs Concern often finds funny stuff on Twitter and then tells me about it. A while ago she told me of this anagram...

Rishi Sunak

Hi risk anus

Then today she told me this one...

Suella Braverman

Anal bum reverse

I thought they were both pretty good.

It reminded me of a time when I was a teacher and computers with internet had only just started to be in classrooms so probably late 1990s I suppose. Anyway it was the last day of term and teachers had to keep their Tutor Group amused until it was time for the whole school assembly. I found an internet anagram site and thought I could make anagrams of all the pupil’s names and let them work them all out. So I entered the first name on the register which was Anhar Ali and it came back Anal Hair!

I did a word search instead...

Found a random car show in Cromer!

It's Cromer Carnival on Wednesday if you're still about then.  I used to drive in the parade with a couple of mates - took the 164 one year, an HA Viva another year.

May well be, it's an plan to get the bus back over for it (can't park at my aunts now as my cousin is over for the week, and sod trying to find a parking space!

Off to Norwich today as its the only raining day we have today (although it's dry right now). Never been to Norwich. Google maps 57 minutes for a 35 mile journey doesn't fill me with much excitement 🤣
