The Maestro is getting a new tailgate.  Or rather, an old tailgate that's not rotten where mine is so I can make one good tailgate out of the two.  I was wondering how to get it from Nottingham when it turned out a friend was actually going to be in Nottingham and heading down to Kent so that sorted that out nicely.  I'm finding once again that there are some supremely generous people in the Maestro owning... scene?  Anyway, they make looking after one very easy and quite rewarding.

Another year , another MOT

Big job broke out on the Ex Forestry Berlingo Van , 2 new springs, a steering rack gaiter and some welding but it passed

Work on Thursday consisted of driving down to Peebles in the Jag and spending the day riding mountain bikes. What's not to like about that?

I'm just back from an excellent day out courtesy of @DVee8 who invited me to join him, Dvee8 Jr and his mate Andy at the NEC classic car show - I've never been to such an event so wasn't really sure what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed myself from start to end. I'm sure there was plenty that we didn't manage to see but what we did see was smashing, what a fantastic selection of cars and a great bunch of people.

Massive thanks to @DVee8 for inviting me, doing all the driving and an all round top day out !

I was down on Friday and completely missed the Exocet stand! I was hoping they’d have one too as I still harbour dirty thoughts about building one from one of the MX5s I have kicking around… 🙁

if you start now, you'll still have yours on the road before mine :)

Umm what a cracking day from the very early start,  05.30 to dropping @gm off at 20.15. The conversation didn't stop. We have laughed, looked confused and laughed some more. It was nice to meet @dollywobbler.

It was good to have you along @gm.

Also the argument I had with the Bugatti guy on the stand over taking a photo of a veyron fuel cap.lol.

He got very arsey, but I couldn't stop laughing at his yellow trousers.

I went about 15 years ago , there was a guy on the bentley stand who's job it was to wipe the fingerprints off the cars , he lost it a bit and shouted at some kids until their dad had a word , told him if they didn't touch the cars he wouldn't have a job,  in a manner that said speak to my kids like that again  and you'll be waking up tomorrow with a few less teeth.

Just caught the end credits of a film called "Wolves."  One of the crew had the surname Fox.  Well it made me larf.

Congratulations!

I'm sure I saw that Maestro van parked up just off the Edinburgh City Bypass, meant to grab a photo

Thank you kindly. I need to get the birds Daihatsu through the MOT just so I can get another endorphin high. MOT passes would be an unusual addiction.

The Maestro van was mega late and looked a little ‘odd’ somehow. Not quite how I remember them.

My own stupidity: these things looked good, and my sleepy brain didn't pay attention to the box, thought it said orange candiesIMG_20211114_111111.thumb.jpg.4527d9e9b7c0f8b20f0ccc5bf84d8257.jpgIMG_20211114_111115.thumb.jpg.ffcf054da161d24fbbf4251da273d617.jpg

That was a rude awakening

Worst thing is: they didn't taste like orange

been one of them weekends

thought id use the local station to get to the main station where the full fat train was

from here on the bike its 15 mins to the main station

two trains to it and its 45 mins (and a 10 min walk)

got down there got to gig - as other post i dropped my phone when i got out of taxi - got it back so that saved me 55 quid (new train ticket)

but today

i have another trip in 3 weeks and im thinking of changing times so that i can find other things in (involving shite)

so i went on the app and was looking at times and farting about with it last night and this morning

got to end of train and not being able to carry on journey (if id carried on i wouldnt have had ticket to get out via the barrier)

i got off and bought another ticket via the app to where i wanted

got to the barrier and big fat nope (and people everywhere)

luckily there was a staff just where i was trying to scan - have you got ticket

yeah bought about 20 mins ago from x to here - showed the q code with the stations and todays date on it

yeah thats ok but its got the 5 of dec on it

WTF??!?!?!?!?!?!?

apparently when you search for stuff in the app for a certain date etc the next time you go into it it doesnt reset (in the case) to today

i went straight into it and just booked the next train but it was still on dec 5 which i didnt notice

nice lady let me throough and just said on ya go - she said youve paid for the journey so technically its ok - just dont travel on the 5th (which i wont be - see the first 4 sentences :D )

lack of food and sleep didnt help (and being old :D )

oh well shit happens

You've got to have a head that zips up the back to pay that for tyres.
