Eclipses Come in Pairs!

A lunar eclipse always occurs about 2 weeks before or after a solar eclipse. On some occasions, a solar eclipse can be both preceded and followed by a lunar eclipse!

Looks more like a Rabi shaking hands with Adolph.

Well done timeanddate.com

This was FRONT PAGE MATERIAL for the local rag. A LIVE ACTION story.

In short - "Someone's told us a minibusbus has crashed into a railing. We're sending a reporter"

(7 minutes later)

"The bus isn't there. We think it's been removed"

(a few minutes later)

Apparently the police didn't even bother showing up.

Amazing. I'm so stealing that. Especially as I know a few folk in/from Leicester...

It was posted by an also-local friend (and part-time 'shiter, although I think he's more facebook than forum - you here Howard?) so I've stolen it from him anyway :)

Mrs SL is watching a gardening programme on More 4, presented by Miranda Hart's mother. She's driving around in this old thing, pictures courtesy of Trigger:

Just been to see Stiff Little Fingers, a full 36 years since I last saw them. They haven't lost it, it was fucking brilliant.

Subconsciously, I just KNEW you would be into them!

There was a mostly eclipse here today.

We used our shite method of viewing it- cardboard with a hole poked in it, but we can say we used the Hubbell to capture an image of it.

Shite pinhole camera. (Look really closely on the grey part of the plastic...)

Made brighter work of what was a pretty crappy day.

Phil

Edit, did take a better picture on a sheet of paper with a slightly more accurately-poked hole:

Going horse riding this morning.

Never EVER sat on a horse before ever!!

Should be interesting.

Hopefully a good soak in the bath will take the aches and pains away.

If you have any ambition to become a horse owner may I recommend heroin instead, it will have a much less drastic effect upon your personal finances, unless you happen to have a vet and farrier in the family....

Good luck with the riding.... I have a stables 100m from my front door and love to donate and help out (my son too) but I'm not getting on the back of one of 'em!

I've done HALO jumps, bungie, extreme this n that - but going on horseback genuinely scares the sh*t outta me!

Fuck horses.

Not literally, but fuck them generally.

When I get inside 1.5 tons of steel I am comfortable in the knowledge that I am in control. It does what I want when I want. OK sometimes the commands may be dumb but any resulting accident is my fault.

If I get on top of 1.5 tons of ambulatory dog food that has the intelligence of a fence post I have to accept that control is an illusion. While it may be content to accept my suggested commands I have to realise that it might just decide to do whatever the fuck it wants to do, including being frightened by a rustling carrier bag and taking off at full pelt with me clinging for dear life and no amount of "whoa boy" is going to stop it.

There is also the risk of it just deciding that it doesn't like you. The front is bitey, the back is kicky and the middle is stampy... It could really ruin your day if it wants to.

Horses are like any other animal. There are good ones and there are bad ones.

My parents have mostly had good ones, but there are also utter bastards out there.

I'm fine with horses that I'm familiar with, and know their personalities, but I'm always very wary of unfamiliar ones. I'm just the same with dogs, cats, any animals really.

Getting bitten by a horse hurts a bit though. One of the parents' ones once bit me on the arm when she was a youngster, being a bit too enthusiastic. She got punched in the side of the head. I thought I punched her quite hard, but the fucker didn't even flinch. Whenever I see her now, she just gently gnaws my arm and dribbles on me instead. Stupid lump. :D

The whole article has been esited and slightly amusing. Certainly sounds like someone from here.

Can't be dealing with people buggering wikipedia up. I rather like using it. Might find that article has now been re-edited

Our shithead neighbours are gone! They've finally moved out!

They're thousands behind on the rent, but the council still hired and paid for a massive removals van for them to move their stinking furniture just 25 meters up the street.

However, by a genuine coincidence, on moving day my collection of shit vehicles was spread out all way up the road, and I was at work on the pushbike with all the keys in my bag, So it couldn't park anywhere anyway and they had to carry everything by hand instead.

I don't think I'll ever really be far enough away from people like that, but I'll take what I can get until a decent house comes on the market for us.

That is really petty and you have achieved hero status because of this :)

(In case it wasn't clear I approve, it is the little things in life....)

I am tempted to ask where the arm and leg straps are but I don't think they would understand.

I'm looking after my neighbour's cat Billy while they're away this week. Most nights he's waiting outside the door of the flats for me to let him in at 10.00,tonight though he was hanging around with a gang of 4 other cats like a scene from Top Cat.He wasn't impressed when I picked him up & carried him inside  :-) .I can just imagine them all laughing at him tomorrow.

Finally got to drive the MK1 AX today, it's amazing how French it is. Not sure if the earlier ones had a different suspension setup but it feels softer than the Forte, and the steering has the perfect feel.

The Forte is like a lairy beast compared to the refined TZX...

Every time I see anything about the US used car market I remember how lucky we are over here - £700 buys you a lot more.

Aye, Britain must be one of the luckiest countries in the world when it comes to shite. There aren't many places where you can get a decent modern-ish running useable car for under 500 quid.

Certainly, it's enough to make the Malaysians jealous, judging by my YouTube comments. I think the UK must be the absolute top for being so hideously style obsessed that a ten year old car can be worthless.
