What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I know of a young woman running a poverty stricken X reg Austin Metro, it's even BEIGE. Last time I checked though it didn't have an engine so that means there must be MULTIPLE young women driving Metros, which boggles the mind...

Indeed, this one was red.

Middle of last week my son came out of school carrying a plant pot of very soggy dirt "say hello to Jerry!"

Jerry was a pumpkin seed that hadn't grown. Some of the other kids had plants about 3/4 inch high.

As he was so excited about Jerry and concerned he hadn't grown I put it in the back room at home which is like a green house.

He's only sodding grown!! It's doubled in hight in the last two days with all the sun. Needless to say one 7 year old boy is very very happy!

Evas school did the same with sunflowers. Hers took ages to grow too. It's doing quite well now, we planted it in a bigger pot on Saturday and ill need to cable tie it to the fence soon its got so tall!

I hope they don't ask us to bring it back to school, saying that if they do ill put it in the rear footwell and open the sunroof

I'm not looking for props for doing this, it really was nothing to me, I am just over the moon that I was able to help the doctors and everyone else save this childs life, for them and their family.

Well, you've got 'em from me anyway. MAD PROPZ.

I was doing platelets for a while until I donated a dodgy batch and they referred me to the doctors to have something checked. Can't even remember what it was but in all likelihood it was probably that I'd eaten a massive fry-up before donating and that does show up in the donation.

So actually you've just given me a reason to go and start it up again - not only am I less likely to donate pure lard (lost about a stone since then) but I remember I get text messages where my donation went - the last one was to a children's hospital.

Might also look at stem cells too. Isn't medicine lovely?

Do you guys remember what the Autoshite Holy Grail is?

That's right! Oh, no, not the Sierra bASe.

Nope, I don't mean a RHD Seat Malaga.

A Vel Satis with the 350Z engine and no electrical faults you say? Not quite.

A Pakyan Hunter? Not that one.

Nope, it's not a launch edition Rover 75 with a Perkins Prima and some godawful colour interior.

And it's not a fuggin' Horsey Horseless.

Right. OK it seems we have a lot of Holy Grails here... but I reckon this should be quite a way up the list....

Spotted today. I clocked it a while back but it disappeared for ages.... The great news is I've just checked it and it's got 364 days of MOT left so someone's looking after it!

Someone at work saw me looking sad yesterday and Monday, and physically made me take £50 and said don't sweat about paying it back asap! I'm going to Newquay on Friday night! I told Amy to not tell Eva, hopefully I'll arrive when she's gone to bed so can surprise her when she wakes up

Someone in a group i run had just posted this, they have had this since the end of May and so far been to Scotland twice, Sussex, Brighton and France and they are currently driving to Norway in it, by the weekend it would have done over 5000 miles, in less than a month in a 309 1.1 GE!

Legendary.

I did a stem cell donation last year. It didn't phase me particularly, I had no interest in the patient, I was just providing what the doctors needed to do their job. However as they were taking the stem cells I found out that the patient was a really small child so I opted back into finding out if the procedure was successful or not, having previously opted out.

Had been shitting myself about getting this letter in case it was bad news (did I do something wrong preparing for the transfer etc etc) but its good news and the child seems to have survived.

Seriously chuffed for them. Everyone should be on a register to do this. I felt a little uncomfortable for a few days whilst on the drugs to produce the stem cells, then had to hold my pee for 3 hours whilst they took the donation but compared to what they were going through, emotionally and physically, it was absolutely nothing.

Keep that letter safe, one day you might end up single. Put that on your POF profile and you'll be drowning in pussy.

Pfff...I'm doing* a madcap crazy 500 mile trip in a perfectly acceptable N reg LS400 I've inexplicably covered in astroturf and cardboard cut outs of guns, all in the name of a chariteeeeee which will receive nearly forty quid once I've deducted my expenses.

I MUST BE MAD.

Technical name 'Road traffic enumerator' or in normal words, counting cars for the council!

Today stood outside the bus depot marking down how many buses and how many people were on them as they went into town. Two other people were a stop down getting on the bus to do the counting.

Next Monday morning it's the same thing in a different place.

Some times you'll have to count all traffic, sometimes people crossing the road or maybe drive a route to work out its journey time. All very easy. The people I'll be working with all all retired!

I drove from Ellesmere Port to Chester in a 309 about 5 years ago, a journey of about 8 miles that was 9 miles too long. I still can't believe something as utterly ace as a 205 is related to those truly dreadful cars.

Sod it, I'm going to work in the camper again tomorrow. I'll drive straight from work to somewhere nice, walk around for a few hours, have a pub meal and some pints, kip in the van and then come home saturday morning before the mrs gets out of bed.

Sweet man. I've seen them in Kidderminster. Whats the pay like? I guess it isn't as much as what I sometimes take home from my shitting job.

Tbh I've no idea of the wage but I assume it's minimum.

The council hired five or six at once and weirdly one of them live across from me in some flats...

The hours seem very flexible but short like they do nearly sod all in July and August in the school holidays as there just isn't the traffic to count. Good for me with a child but crap if it was you main job.

I had though about what you do as it sounded good driving random stuff but the potential to be out all night and paying your own expenses would kill it for me.
