Had the pleasure of meeting puddlethumper of this parish today.

He fetched and ferried some fragile tin grafts from the Midlands to Suffolk, via the Capital, in his choice 305 van. What a first class fellow indeed.

I'm sorry sarcastic comments can only be used to the question 'do you want finance' they can't clear it

"I'd like to buy a bottle of brown sauce, please."

"Certainly sir, would you like HP?"

"No thank you, I'll pay cash upfront."

Misread an advert for a limited edition Batman Meerkat as a Batman Merkin :)

I did that whilst in posh food aisle of Iceland yesterday, the label was partially hidden, I knew I was out of my class when they appeared to be selling portions of Venison Minge.

Drove up to my mums earlier to do a bit of work on the T25 with regards to selling it because it's superfluous to my needs now that I've got the Talbot Express.

Ran it round the block and it made me so happy I left the Abarth 500 in her garage (with its air conditioning!!) and I've come home in the T25 and bought a load of 90s shitty dance and rave tapes off ebay to play on the stereo.

Anyone want to buy a 2016 Abarth 595 with 5900 miles?

Having driven my mates the answer is YES! Sadly I doubt it would be in my price range, they are an amazing car for such a small package. A modern day Mini Cooper (which the modern day Mini Cooper certainly isn't).

I have a wire running from the house to a birdbox up a tree in the garden. It was a bit of pissing about but I didn't want the hassle and expense of batteries for a wireless camera, and now its all bin worthwhile enabling us to watch 7 blue tits hatch and become nearly ready to go. A lot of entertainment for 25 quid's worth of bits.

Did we ever establish why Ford made the Corsair and the Cortina to compete with themselves?

Surely that sort of marketing suicide was reserved for British Leyland.

Wasn't it like the Signum/Vectra?  Slightly bigger and posher in theory.

Just confusing in practice.

I dunno, Nissan took much the same approach throughout the 80s & 90s, minus the styling & character, and did OK out of it.

You can't really compare BL/BMC - they were already in a totally different league by the mid-60s. Making a loss on every Mini despite the appalling build quality took some doing, but going on to sell the heaps through competing Austin & Morris dealerships showed true weapons-grade genius*.

Just rescued a young lass in broken Metro - towed her round the corner to her work on my way to take the Disco for MOT. She was in tears, bless her. She said she hoped mine would pass so with a bit of luck....

Got my foot in the door in an industry I've wanted to work in for ages...had the assessment day today and passed all the tests.

Now the interview comes later, fingers crossed I get it! It'll be a nice pay rise too.

This place... it seems to be getting back to how it used to be, plenty of old chod content and plenty of interesting, usually rambling off topic posts in the open section along with a return to the usual good natured and gentle piss taking... :-D

Indeed - and after years of singledom I have recently been snapped up.  Breakdown woman was far far too young for me and I didn't fancy her at all - which was just as well as it made it a lot easier helping her out.  She was a young woman in her twenties running a Metro!!!! How brilliant is that?  and not a late one, either, it was a 1982 in pretty povvo spec.

Tonight's East Coast Retros Meet at Shotley was truly excellent. Making-up for last time when it was horrifically wet, tonight was the most perfect evening for a get-together by the river that could be imagined.

No time for pic's now, but I realised a lifetime ambition by driving a Mk3 Cortina (thanks Semi-C!). The 1200 behaved itself impeccably and seemed to impress those who had a go in it too.

I did a stem cell donation last year. It didn't phase me particularly, I had no interest in the patient, I was just providing what the doctors needed to do their job. However as they were taking the stem cells I found out that the patient was a really small child so I opted back into finding out if the procedure was successful or not, having previously opted out.

Had been shitting myself about getting this letter in case it was bad news (did I do something wrong preparing for the transfer etc etc) but its good news and the child seems to have survived.

Seriously chuffed for them. Everyone should be on a register to do this. I felt a little uncomfortable for a few days whilst on the drugs to produce the stem cells, then had to hold my pee for 3 hours whilst they took the donation but compared to what they were going through, emotionally and physically, it was absolutely nothing.

I'm not looking for props for doing this, it really was nothing to me, I am just over the moon that I was able to help the doctors and everyone else save this childs life, for them and their family.

I know of a young woman running a poverty stricken X reg Austin Metro, it's even BEIGE. Last time I checked though it didn't have an engine so that means there must be MULTIPLE young women driving Metros, which boggles the mind...

So you got her number just in case it needed towing again later right? So one of us not-so-old-buggers can have a go?

Middle of last week my son came out of school carrying a plant pot of very soggy dirt "say hello to Jerry!"

Jerry was a pumpkin seed that hadn't grown. Some of the other kids had plants about 3/4 inch high.

As he was so excited about Jerry and concerned he hadn't grown I put it in the back room at home which is like a green house.

He's only sodding grown!! It's doubled in hight in the last two days with all the sun. Needless to say one 7 year old boy is very very happy!
