'BUB' M vehicles lasted four years?

Wow, he must be getting worse in his old age.

Just been really childish and thoroughly enjoyed it! Had a 'race' with a Mercedes A45 AMG up the steep hill towards home, it's got a chicane in the middle just to make it more interesting.

Two points: Mercedes A45 AMG are effing quick but sound like shit when being given the berries and two, an 18 year old 2 and a bit ton heap can keep up... nearly! Yes, Mercedes is faster (what a shock!) but not by much.

Just another few points that need clarifying: no nuns (and yes, there is a nunnery on this bit of road) or kittens were harmed in this bit of foolishness.

No speed limits were exceeded (well not massively :)  ).

I felt really silly and stupid to be doing such things at my age and state of decrepitude, and I also felt guilty for abusing my poor old lass in such a manner.

I wonder who I can annoy tomorrow?

While checking to see if there are any dates yet for this year, I've seen that goodwood have a photo of my fiat for the softop Sunday date in 2016.

The car next to it is a Lamborghini silhouette which is basically the same design but a 100 times more expensive. They made 52 of them and used many of the same parts.

But only one of the cars involved looks cool & timeless parked up as you walk away from it.

Parked next to this slightly battered, OAP-owned 405 when I visited the local town yesterday (part of my mission being to stock up on more cheapo, tat-containing postcards from the excellent charity shop there). Note the other 405 in the background, an estate that often seems to be parked-up there too. There's always something to be seen here.

Sunny and 405 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

The Sunny excels at local running-around even at this horrible time of year, and I treated it to a jet wash this afternoon (the full 15 minutes, no messing about). Might even use it for the next Marham trackday, if the following doesn't work out....

Also had a rush of blood to the head and cleaned the Camry estate. I realised the Sunny battery would fit it, so quickly swapped that across and got it running for a while. It hasn't been started since Wuvvum and I swapped the tailgate last Spring, but it fired-up just like I'd switched it off yesterday. Doesn't seem to have got damp inside (the V6 saloon suffered with a leak somewhere and got very wet even when it was in regular use) and it ran just fine. Radiator might now have a small leak, but I have one or two of them spare so that's no biggie. I have plans to get it to a local garage next month and ascertain what's needed to get it on the road again - I can't wait to get to try and get it back into use.

Rediscovering 3 cds I thought I'd lost nearly 30 years ago and had totally forgotten about. Found them in a box in my folks' shed. And they still play.

Ry Cooder - Into The Purple Valley, Boomer's Story, and Paradise And Lunch.

Yaaay. From 2017 perspective it's like finding some undiscovered lazy Zep or The Band or some obscure late 60s Stones Gram Parsons type cds.

Maybe not for everyone but does it for me. No grumps.

But, anyway, back towards autoshite.

Cue press-play and turn to twelve . . .

Love Ry Cooder - including (bit not limited to) "Pull Up Some Dust" - which everyone I try to inflict it on hates.  Very Very underrated IMHO.

I'm actually struggling to remember what cars I had at 23. Obviously, the 2CV was one of them, as I bought that when I was 22. So, I think the other car would be the Peugeot 306 D Turbo that was the last car I bought on finance. Actually. the 2CV was off the road for a good chunk of 2002, being steadily rebuilt, so I think there was a Dyane floating around at the time, much as there was when the 2CV came off the road this time!

Absolutely nothing wrong with doing this, it takes people down a peg or 2, my favourite is doing it to cocks in their modern euro box's on country roads, yes they usually have more horsepower than my saph and would wipe the floor with it on a motorway but anyones granny can do 132 in a straight line though, the twisties sort the men from the boys, I love it when they look in the rear view horrified that they can't shake this "grandad" car, I love it even more when I spot the point I can pass and drive into the distance showing my tail lights

I've checked back in the parish records, when I was 23 I had a Talbot Horizon and a mini. They were both awful.

I had a 305 van, Renault 9 TSE, Saab 99GL and possibly a Mini estate when I was 23. I have still never owned a BX and am unlikely to now.

I've never owned a BX, I consider this a success in life.

I have a BX and I'm 25. Hopefully I'll still have it when I'm 26.

At 23 I hadn't passed my car test and also given up driving illegally by time I was 20 so was relying on numerous motorbikes and scooters. Think I had a vesta et4 125,sym jet 50 and a suzuki gz125 at that time. Sym was 6 month old and cost 50 quid from wheels to work, et4 was absolutely useless at everything and the gz was cheap and couldn't trust the et4 and sym was slow so I had that as well.

I had my first BX at 19. It was an NA diesel, and my friends were amazed at how quickly it accelerated. Well, I had only owned a 957cc Fiesta, several 2CVs and a Skoda 105 Lux up until this point...

Mine was a 1.9 GT. it was great until the inevitable happened.

At 23 I had a Kawasaki AR125. Didn't get my first car till I was 24 (Fiat Uno 45S).

Just out for a quick driving lesson with Chuck and we get 200 yards from the house before someone tries to pull out in front of her where there is only room for one and she stops in time AND finds the horn. I was so proud  :)

Right, just checked. At 23 I had a 1973 Opel 1900GT, a 1968 Mercedes 280 SE, a 1957 Wartburg 311, several Trabants (all 601s) two mk2 Triumph 2000s.

This is why I don't own a house.

You might want to suggest she avoids such tendencies on the actual driving test... unless she's quick enough to suggest she was just letting the other car know she was there!

The other driver did not even look to see if it was ok to go and clearly had no idea we existed before the horn was sounded. Unfortunately this is typical at school kick out time round here.

Found at the side of the road - it is the thing that says Trimble on it that is the grin. Trimble is one of those driver behaviour monitoring gadgets.

Would sir like me to start looking for something suitably shite over here?

When I was 23 I'd just moved into my current house and was driving a '76 Dolomite 1850HL with a '77 Dolomite 1300 as a backup car.
