This shampoo advert.

https://youtu.be/o-rGnvZvltc

Reminds me of this.

It must've been made by a 40something ad executive.

Funnily enough I pointed out to the mrs when I saw the alpecin advert showing her the gtx advert after, has anyone also noticed that a furniture advert has also cannibalised the start of bronski beat small town boy

Not noticed the furniture advert, but I had noticed the shampoo advert (it's also posted in the News 24 thread) ;-)

Mental is too subtle a word for them.

Not many circuit racers can race the roads and vice versa.

That reminds me of a story I was told by an ex TT racer friend many moons ago.

He used to take this particular corner flat out and he said his line was right when he brushed the hedge with his shoulder.

One year he broke down just before the corner and was stranded until the race had finished and his mechanic could come and pick him up.

To kill a bit of time he went over to the corner to see if his line was right only to find the "hedge" he'd been brushing with his shoulder every year was in fact a moss covered dry stone wall!!

Guy was a top bloke and what he didn't know about bikes wasn't worth knowing.

I raced bikes at club and bsb support class level for ten years and always wanted to do the TT, at the end of 2006 the guy I raced against regularly in our club was planning ro do it in 2007 and I'd decided I would do it too, but for some reason I got bored of racing and haven't raced since early 2007

I've been bored shitless ever since

I raced clubman and the odd national/international back in the 80s (God I'm old) and loved it but it didn't half go thru money! Never wanted to do the TT as, to be honest, it scared me shitless! I did mad Sunday a couple of times and that was enough for me to know my testes were far too small and shrivelled to ever race there. In fact, even now I can hardly bare to watch it as I'm always expecting the worst and I don't like people getting splattered all over lampposts/other road furniture, saw enough of that road riding over the years.

Out of interest I reapplied for Deliveroo (bicycle food delivery) on Tuesday.

This time they called me back next day and I've got an interview/cycling skills check thingy next Thursday now.

I logged into the application tracking thing and it turns out my old application from August was on it (I hadn't used that site before, this time I was emailed a link to it to input details etc)  and it was still open, despite my receiving a rejection email *and* a request to call them on my birthday last month, that confused me. But now that I've reapplied it's killed off the old one and replaced it with my current one.

Let's see how this goes, then.

Deliveroo check your cycling skills??

Around Portsmouth you'd never fucking know it.

I'm with Cheggers on this, all the ones I see in London are desperate to get themselves killed.

Exactly, it's the same proficiency test they did at kamikaze school.

In Nottingham they seem to have upped their game by using trailers, except they forget about them so still nip through gaps in pedestrians big enough only for a bike.

I did see one ordered off his bike and forced to walk (escorted by the policeman) through a pedestrianised bit, they nip through as it's half a mile instead of a couple of miles on the road. Hopefully the food was sufficiently chilled and he doesn't do it again.

I think it's a new thing, a lot of the riders here are complete idiots too.

Mrs_Pillock just got excited over that Shampoo advert.... Except it's because she thought they'd remade the Castrol one. Most disappointed, she was!

Bless.

Out on my bike today, and at the top of a long climb this was written on the road, presumably after some race or other. Made me smile though.

Currently watching Flying Scotsman 'From the footplate' on BBC4 and thoroughly enjoying it. Incredibly, so is my wife.

I wouldn't mind the opportunity  :-(

Ask him nicely, you never know, he may play both sides of the field.

I don't, shame really, it'd double my chances.

Came back home and miles stops with 18's. Not sure why I find this exciting, but I do, ok?
