Particularly enjoying this caption / photo of a wrapped New Defender stuck in extremely un-extreme conditions, earlier.

I'm not a huge fan of new defenders or owt but if it's actually proper ice then nothing without studded tyres would tackle it, and this last few days have seen roads round here (peak district) more icy that I've ever known, it's been odd and ideal climate conditions for ice.

It's more that these bozos have reacted to shitty weather conditions by getting themselves stuck and having to be rescued by people who would probably rather be delivering soup to old folk.

Tried to take the new car out for a family trip.  Obviously it doesn't have enough seats so Mrs L1 walked.

We didn't get much further as after this point the road wasn't gritted

Was a nice toddle anyway even if it took ten times longer to defrost the car as it would have to walk the start with a stroppy three year old

Good to see the art of picking up a grubby slab of ice and carrying it for some reason known only to oneself is alive and well.

Surely spending the best part of £100k you get magic anti-physics adhesion control? It’s the button next to the heated seats, I believe.

Best bit on that story is the 'picture for idiots' they've chosen to illustrate:
Beemer with obfuscated number plate:

1) No sno
2) what's that reflected in the muddy torrent puddle it is wading driving through?

First thing I thought there was "What's my Focus doing there when it's supposed to be parked outside my mate's place in Oxford?" 😆

Hope your eldest is OK now too.

This really made me smile.  Facebook nostalgia groups really are the fucking worst.  I've joined a few just to bait the regulars and they literally CAN not help themselves.
