I'm sure it was right as rain with a dab of T-Cut and a bit of air in the tyres.

I first saw that about 1974 , went to work with my dad on Saturdays , I'd be 13 and look longingly at it as we drove past parked in that same spot , it never moved in the 2 years we drove past it.

About 10 years ago I got diverted off the A14 , amazed to see it still there , under a tarp but there's no hiding that rear window

I understand the original issue with this Interceptor that led to it getting into this state was that it was part of the first run of cars handbuilt by Vignale - so replacement panels would have needed to be individually crafted to fit.

The guy that owned it let it get into that state , he had many people knock on his door when it was still a car but either turned them down or wanted way more than it was worth

I assumed he was dead but a guy on Facebook said a rolls Royce took its place , then one day it was parked there with the back end smashed in until that went as well

You may remember I scrapped this ungrateful bastard last November

bastard.thumb.jpg.0684bbff259ab508cd45c31bb61a2bb5.jpg

Anyway, the previous owner got in touch....to tell me he'd saved it from the bean tin machine - genuinely delighted for him.

The classified ad on eBay is total bollox of course.....estate clearance my arse, unless somehow the car was sold immediately to someone who then died.

No comment about the story, but this lion is simply fabulous; reminiscent of something from Weebl's Stuff.

Edited to fix broken link.

Mebbes aye, mebbes naw; the Vignale ones were handbuilt, but in reality the in-house shells had as much variation, full of leadloading etc and replacing body panels was never like bolting wings on a Rover P6. The owner was just a fanny and let it rot.

The new set of Rainsport 5s I got fitted the other week got their first proper wet-weather test over the last couple of days. Compared to the old tyres, it's like I've got a different car. 😁

Couldn't believe it, I've never had wet grip like it. I couldn't unstick them even with some spirited* driving in the hammering rain. Properly impressed! Massive change from the Hankooks that were on it before, which were confident in the dry but utterly lethal on anything resembling damp tarmac.

A big thumbs up to Uniroyal from me, for the price. I'm not fussed if they wear heavily, I drive fairly quickly down a lot of twisty, greasy Sussex roads and grip levels hold a lot more value to me than lifespan.

Whose lifespan ...

I was worried the Volvo was down on power, but a test of 55-85 in 5th showed it's still pulling as hard as ever.

That was an enjoyable 20 mile round trip for tobacco and red bull.

I always buy good tyres, especially for the 205, because I drive like a twat and tyres are cheaper than ending up paralysed. Probably about even with being dead mind you.

Actually I buy any old shite tyres ‘cos I’m a brilliant driver who can anticipate everything . Also the children round here are incredibly well behaved and never run into the road!

Some poetry.

There was a young man from Chile
whose conduct was incredibly silly
he sat on the stairs
eating apples and pears
firing the pips out his willy

Ha yep, that's me! Filmed that in Nov 2020, I'd almost forgotten about it tbh! 4+ hours of filming for that little bit! (unless there's more)

Got paid for the diesel though 👍

I watched it last night, where were you?  Full marks for not shoving the excitable cockney twat of a host into the plastic regrinding machine 😀

I do the same and always change them well before the 1.6mm wear marker

Yay we have electricity back again. The winds wouldn't back down until a few hours ago so it's pretty nice the issue was fixed so quickly. UK Power Networks were saying we'd be without power until midnight!

Needs to be an A12 or one of the others with 4 lenses for maximum authenticity. 🤣
