I'm just impressed how well they managed to edit out the inevitable white Audi A4, hanging eight inches from the Bugatti's back bumper while flashing its lights...

Don't electric Renaults come without the batteries?

Yup, and it's a right old pain in the hoop slotting over a thousand AAAs into your Zoe every morning...

Seriously though, I believe it's a rental scheme or some such that Renault offer for batteries (a colleague has a Zoe).

Better than ownership, and thus having to stump up ££££ when the battery finally lets go, just to keep your now six or seven year old car functional?

And as I seem to recall, some French motorway services have the ability to swap battery packs over on an exchange basis, allowing a low battery to be exchanged for a full one so you can be on your way in a matter of minutes - rather than having to hook it up for an hour or what-have-you.

We looked at them and 400 miles a month seemed to be the crossover point where they just starting making financial sense, below that the rental is a killer unless it’s changed a lot in the last couple of years.

Spotted this in Tesco today,I'd seen it once before going the other way.

There was a white Citroen XM as well,,but I didn't get a picture.

Shifted my washing machine and tumble dryer.

Inlet hose for washer was a bit too short for it to fit right back to the wall.

Ordered a longer one, 2.5M, delivered today.

Packed with it was a double ended male extender (no not one of those)! Connects two hoses together.

I thought that If I had know, I would just have bought one of those as I have half a dozen hoses here.

New hose was still slightly short so made use of the connector.

Went to find some clips to attach the hoses to the skirting,  Saw them last week but god knows where.  I did however find a hose connector I wasn't aware I had,

Sods law in operation still.

Spotted a bright red mk1 Mr Two on my way back from errands today, and a fantastic scruffy flat-front Mini the day before.  Typically, the good stuff I'm seeing is never when I have a camera to hand but it's good to see the older stuff still out and about after what has felt like a very long spell of barely seeing anything older than about 15 years of age on the roads for much of the year.

Since everyone seems to be in a protesting mood right now for one reason or an other... remember there are real issues out there

I fixed the saab - no(t much) swearing, no injuries, no parts lost in the engine bay never to be seen again, no rusty bolts, just a (relatively) straightforward swap of a crank position sensor had my 9-5 fire up first time after being immobile for a week

I think that calls for a beer or two :)

The fact that I haven't read a classic magazine in the last couple of months that hasn't got Trigger and his fuckin Marinas in!

This month he even appears to have got Mrs Trigger in on the act ( infinitely easier on the eye)

EARLY REGISTRATION MADNESS.

I knew that Ford launched the Mondeo in March ‘93 and that about 2000-ish cars had been produced before they went officially on sale (including my dad’s old one), but I have never seen a pre-build one until just now.

Registered 18.12.92 but untaxed as of 24.2.93. An incredibly short life for this one.

Driving home from Basingstoke to Accrington last night - I missed the massive Gin spillage by about 20 mins on the M6.

So glad I didn't have to sit in that traffic

Not sure if this is a 'grin' as such but it sure ain't news...

A while ago at the park they very carefully cleared the hedges (where Phoebe used to lay and destroy the thicket/bracken/thorn bushes) and then planted saplings complete with sticks and ties to support them. Anyhoo, today was a 'Phoebe' day (when she goes out and gets to choose where we go) and so we went to this park we hadn't been to for a while as we don't go in the summer as it's infested with brats and other small humans and is therefore, horrible. Phoebe wandered off and Chester was being his usual pain in the arse and going in a seperate direction and by the time Chester and I had caught up with Phoebe, she had not only destroyed a sapling, she'd destroyed the thick wooden stake that had previously supported the (now none existent) sapling!

I very carefully ignored her and any evidence there may have been!

A drive in an Rover made me grin, if it passes its mot I will grin on the way home.

Haven't driven an R8 since about 2001, how easy it is to forget what they are like.

Either the steering wheel isn't straight or it isn't round and to match the keep fit windows it is also the keep fit variety of influencing the vague direction of travel.

Also non ABS for the brake test!

squeal, Slide and SMOKE baby

Still has a faint whiff of new to it though, the radio isn't bad and it's in Tarts Handbag Red.

I have been invited to dig through some BX spares in storage that needs clearing.  Don't know exactly what's available but there's hope of a driver's door glass and a good bonnet, I came away with a mudflap and an exhaust hanger today since those were to hand.  Anyone need anything BX-y?  I'll see if he's got stuff.  There's apparently a full GTi interior too.

I got home this afternoon (well, there's a surprise!) and in an effort to stay busy (and not then eat early and then fall asleep) I decided to wax the car. Then after I read what I just typed, I changed my mind and decided to POLISH the fucker instead! While polishing away with Autoglym I noticed that the rear drivers side mudflap was hanging on by a fred.  This is therefore a 'Grin' as a few more miles and I would be deficient in the mudflap department to the tune of one mudflap, and as they are genuine Mercedes and have SLK discreetly placed upon them, this loss would probably have cost several small fortunes to replace.

Getting the clamps off was a bit of a chore until I resorted to gross brutality (I'm really good at that) and used a screwdriver to lever them off (always use the correct tool for the job kiddies :) )  Once off, a squirt of WD40 and holding them in a pair of molegrips while applying copious quatities of torque via the medium of a 10 mm spanner (Halfords 'Professional' ratchet) soon had them working back as someone once intended. In fact, after an application of care in the community they could be done up/undone with nothing more than finger pressure.

The reason they had come undone was someone had fitted them wrongly - there is none of this 'metal to metal' crap going on, there are little tangs built into the flap that fits into a groove in the plastic wheelarch, rubber of course and the tang/flap/whatever was inside the mudflap. Quite how this had happened now I have no idea, just lucky I guess. Anyway, with the wheel still on, room to swing a spanner (even a Halfords 'professional' ratchet spanner) was severely limited and so, in a blinding flash of inspiration, I remembered that I have/had the most beautiful 'Teng' socket set. Really small (but lovely like a Flieschmann 'N' gauge loco - sorry about the spelling) and so I went in search. Wonder of wonders, it is still where I put it about 8 years ago.

So a double grin: I still have a Mercedes Benz SLK rear mudflap and I got to play with my beautiful Teng socket set (size small as fook, like an 'N' gauge....)

Oh yeah, I lovingly polished my 'Teng' socket set (size small) and I just hope no bugger saw me or they may think I'm a sad old bastard....

The 414 sailed through its MOT with only an advisory for crinkly laquer on the rear indicators.
