Meh, I did exactly that on the pickup truck so I could change fuel pipes without having to drop the tank. Granted I did it a bit neater, cut three sides of a square and bent up the flap so I could get the sender out and braise in a new pipe then refitted it and folded the flap back down.

I did very similar to my Corsa's wheel by running over a stone within a week of buying it. A £360 mistake...

The coaches that National Express use are some definite future bus shite - driver just had to stop to re-close the door because it popped open slightly upon hitting a pothole....

2017/67 with a mere 111k KM

I hit a pothole on the M4 at 70mph and not an MPH more on saturday morning. It made my head unit that was playing from the USB give a read error for a second or two. Scared the utter shit out of me when the music stopped, I thought the car had done a french and had a total electrical failure. Had to slow down briefly for a rolly

Gosh. The conspiracy theorists really would have some fun with that one. "SQUARE VAPE TRAILS MAN. THE GOVERNMENT IS CONTROLLING US!"

From the news today...

Company director jailed after fitting laser jammer to Range Rover and giving speed cameras the finger............

After the case, Traffic Constable Andrew Forth said: ‘If you want to attract our attention, repeatedly gesturing at police camera vans with your middle finger while you’re driving a distinctive car fitted with a laser jammer is an excellent way to do it.

Big fuck off ballast number 2 arrived  (Postman pat must love me... each one of these is 15Kg+ and I live 3 stories up...)

post-25614-0-47595000-1524573952_thumb.jpg

so I set about wiring them up in parallel for MAXIMUM POWER! so I was able to run my even bigger fuck off lightbulb, my 2000W Osram HQI-T Sports stadium metal halide lightbulb up to full power

this was ungodly bright the picture does not do it justice sadly, (for anyone looking for lumen figures, this thing kicks out 200,000 lumens!) im pretty sure if I put a reflector and shutter over said reflector on this thing, I could send Morse code messages to the ISS... during the day.  it also kicked out an impressive amount of heat.

I had to run it partway up on one Ballast then bring the second ballast into the setup after the lamp had warmed up some, as if I had just fired it up from cold with both Ballasts the inrush current would of blown the arse end out of the 13A fuse in the plug...

(I should fire it up at 3AM and see if I can piss off the entire neighbourhood  and probably attract every insect from across England...) now how long until someone lashes one onto the back of their car to fight off blind tailgaters :)

Went out to car earlier and had to laugh.

My Mk2 Fiesta, 950 low spec worth* more than the 2005 mk6 Fiesta ST sat behind it. How many years before the scene tax catches up?

Just shows you its all bollocks :-)

Scene tax will definately make me smile if I ever sell any of my motors

Definitely should have tried a 306 before now. They handle amusingly well.

I think I'll replace this one when it dies with another.

My son messaged me the other day and said he was flying down to Newquay to collect his new car.

I asked what was it and he said "it's a Cresta".

Alas it's a bloody Toyota Cresta..

Nice enough though 2.5 straight six turbo with a print out showing 284bhp.

Been driving the company Ford Exploda (Explorer) all last week.

It was amazing climbing back into and driving my old subie come Saturday morning. No floaty boat feeling (I could actually feel the bumps and surface changes in the road), manual gearbox, so feeling the gear change, and when that turbo came into song...

Near bliss!

The fact that we all seem to be getting on well together and we've managed to avert the much-predicted 2018 AUTOSHITE meltdown.

Stepdaughter's report card at Parents' Evening last night. She's doing entry level car mechanics. Very proud.

post-24583-0-15921100-1524755065_thumb.jpg

Upper half is practical assessment (4 distinctions, 2 merits and 2 passes), bottom is the theory side. 2nd in the class overall with an average mark of 94% and is earmarked for an apprenticeship at the local VW dealer. I think she's going to make a bloody good mechanic when she's all growed up.

She's already said that drum brakes are "fucking awful fucking fuckers that can fuck off". Good girl!

EDIT - parents' evening was last week, we got the report card yesterday after she came home from college!

When my mechanic Steve (57) is laying under a truck outside in february "fucking awful fucking fuckers that can fuck off" he says something similar about his parents who were also in the motor trade and passed their knowledge on to him to get him to where he is now  :D

Not enough swear words?

Anyway, my grin is because of this commemorative plate that a friend posted on Twitter. 1985, the iconic beige Maestro!

Wife went to Portugal at 3 am on a hen do, I couldn't get back to sleep so by 5 am there was a set of  Fiesta seats in the kitchen getting deep cleaned and I've just part resprayed a wing on the kitchen table... :-D

As long as she doesn't use the C-word, she can swear all she likes at drums. I do exactly the same. C-word is not befitting of a young lady.

Drum brakes aren't too bad if you think about things a bit , do one side at a time for a pattern and it's not Vito handbrake shoes
