What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

A friend of mine is a shiter and doesn't even really know it. He sends me photos of old trucks and stuff he's seen out and about and every now and then a picture he's found on his internet wanderings that is just too perfect. This is the best Pontiac Trans Sport I've yet seen.

A quick, easy sale of my Avensis daily happened today. After some poor part-ex valuations at Mazda and Toyota main dealers ranging from £2400-3150 I found a local trader who said he'd give me £3400 as a straight purchase. Haven't got the time/inclination to sell it myself, just needed it gone but not so badly as to be ripped-off. Trader popped the money straight into my bank this morning and collected it promptly.

More excitingly, this means that the Camry is temporarily promoted back up to daily driver duties. I'd been using it more frequently anyway to keep the miles down on the Avensis (and avoid damage to it in last week's snow) and it's as enjoyable to drive as ever.

Whilst doing the rounds of various garages looking for my new daily I found this beauty at Brayley in Milton Keynes:

Much excitement when I saw this recently:

Had a chat with the owner, he'd only just bought it from Oxford and sounds like he's as keen on them as me (said he's owned a couple of other Camrys beforehand). I should have some bits to help him out.

Alf Dad now lives in St Ives (Cambs)

Apparently they recently built a new Police station...........in Pig Lane

Road name subsequently got changed

When South Yorkshire Constabulary built a new HQ, they renamed that road too....

Isn't that like advertising that you're purveying Glasgow's finest kisses or Porton Down's finest ebola?

Just checked google maps because I thought you were taking the piss

that is AMAZING

SYP are also the force that sent out cards to people with a warrant for their arrest late last year.

"Congratulations, you've won a Christmas hamper! Just text this number with a date and time for delivery when you'll be at home....."

Just went out in vans scooping them all up, guaranteed arrests.

I find that the finest kebab purveyors operate out of ex-Rentokil vans.

Classy. Actually, on a kebab-related note, NZ doner meat does not leave a thick layer of yellow grease in the polystyrene tray the morning after, since they presumably use leaner cuts of whatever species go into doner meat cylinders. MUST TRY HARDER, 0.3/10.

Four and a quarter pounds off this week so over a stone since the middle of Jan . Feel much better for it too . Apart from the need to inhale a massive fry up obviously

Ha, I've seen that thing in Hungerford. Someone else in Reading also uses an ex Rentokil LDV as a kebab van, no thanks.

Somebody in Thatcham was using an old 400 up until recently too.

Didn't someone on here say A4 Kebabs use a Rover 800 as a tow car or something?!

Heading off out in a hour or so to see Skid Row at the O2 Academy Newcastle.

You should have seen the Top Wok van when that was around. Not sure if environmental health or the MOT man go to them first. Used to top out at around 40mph on the A4 and you didn't want to be driving behind it if you didn't want to choke your lungs full of noxious gases.

Dairyland in Norwich, often found lurking outside the UEA on a gig night.

Dairyland are a legit ice cream company who operate both vans, and an export service - randomly, an exclusive service to offshore oil rigs.

However they must have sold one of their vans to some geezer who made no effort to remove the branding, and instead just threw some hotplates, fryers and a kebab machine in the back before attempting to give every single student in Norwich some sort of food poisoning.

Seriously, it was a given that on a Friday night you'd drink a little bit too much, have a Dairyland burger, and then spend 4am - 10am hoying your guts up. Repeat the weeks after, natch.

Just dug 2 feet of snow off the recycling boxes so they could go out. Looked out and more is coming down, oh joy.

Or maybe NZ rats are just less obese than the ones here.

So unexpected here! It looks so beautiful!

It was forecast...

Just enough to be irritating here. I'm off on minibus duty today, though apparently one of the school buses did get stuck. Maybe today I'll be glad to be in a Boxer rather than a Crafter...

It wasn't forecast locally here. BBC weather said rain.

I don't think anyone was expecting it.

caused chaos here , schools closed , roads gridlocked ,  its just about melted now .

should be a nice drive in for the late shift   .....

Same here. Snow plough going round not really achieving anything and all kinds of slidey van action up the hill. It is melting pretty sharpish though.
