What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Cut back an ash tree in the garden, very long branches, so as per stuffed them in the local wood (ash grows there so no foul play on my part). Lo and behold, lying there in the bushes is a wheel arch liner from a random GM. Funny that, I'm missing a liner on the PTSD - it's only a bleedin' perfect fit, innit ? :)

That's great recycling right there

Can't remember now if it was last week or the week before, but I inadvertantly caught a few minutes of The Voice.

Wait a minute, this is the Grin thread, surely?

Yes it is: the few minutes I caught consisted of Tom Jones and one of the contenders performing Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On.  I'm so glad I witnessed that.

Wife has a friend coming over later and asked me to tidy the house.

Tidying has consisted of many cups of tea, two episodes of The Grand Tour, and a sandwich.

:-)

The bedrock of a solid marriage.

WP Lewis & Son in Pembrokeshire. All of these cars adorned the showroom whilst the modern stuff was outside.

Somw of these cars (like the Astra and Corsa were locally sold vehicles that were looked after by the garage and bought back when the owners part exchanged them for a newer vehicle. The Opel Rekord estate was apparently a Surrey-registered vehicle owned by a company in London, the car later ended up in Malvern and to a scrapyard when it was saved by the scrapyard owner who knew the garage owner and sold and displayed here. I have pictures of the stories but the pictures end up sideways and it's a right PITA to get them to display properly.

I told the lads there of the North London Derek J Ketteringham dealership that had a similar set up but the older vehicles inside the showroom were not on display, they had been for sale for years and ended up staying there until recently when the dealership was sold off to some van dealer.

Oh man, I'll take the Monza. Dad had one in a kind of quality Street triangle green with green interior. I remember the dash being out of this world cool. My other memory is a wasp going down the back of my dad's shirt whilst driving it. I hate wasps.

Decades ago when I was taking riding lessons before having my own horse, my instructor ran a Monza. It was silver, and carried the plate JGS 263Y. He sold it to a member of the Autobahnstormers Club, and bought a Nissan Cherry Europe......

Holy fuck, showroom of dreams right there! Old Vauxhall/Opel dealer who are still keen on the brand but were no doubt chucked on the scrapheap by GM because their showroom didnt conform to a set layout or something.

Wondered why the green Opel seemed familiar, someone in the same town I live in has/had this:

Finally feeling not ill! Result

Plus went to see Brian Blessed last night as part of my 40th. He was exactly what you expect. Half brilliant half full of bollocks but totally shambolic.

He just went through bits of his life.

Not sure 100% of it is true as he is quite well known as a bit of a liar.

It's very easy to forget that he has been in loads of stuff such as Z cars, Cats etc. Makes such as difference to people being famous for being on ex on the beach or whatever

The feeling is mutual Mr Cavcraft, thanks for the coffee. Am back in South Lincs now- slight drama on the way home but nothing major. My Mrs was filling with LPG whilst I nipped off for a whazz, I came back to see LPG blasting out of the connector and dripping onto the wet forecourt to bubble away and form lumps of ice. I've had problems at this pump before (won't start in cold weather, probably has to register a certain pressure in the pipe first) and the cashier hurried across looking worried. She assured me there was nothing wrong with the pump(!) and suggested we tried the other side, which was fine. I think the seal in the nozzle must be knacked, as I mentioned the connectors seem troublesome in this country. With LPG on the wane I don't see them changing for the furrin' types.

It's the seal on the pump that's knackered - report it to head office as it's a mega hazard.

LPG isn't on the wain in the expensive South I'm seeing more and more different vehicles at the pumps.

New Shell fillers are a PITA though so it means I can't fuel at their stations anymore.
