Air suspension… who’d buy a car with it 🤣

Thats bad. The only positive thing is that it happened after you came home from the European trip.

That was my sentiment exactly, I’m looking on the bright side in that it’s done all the work I asked of it without leaving me stranded anywhere. It had the good grace to fail on the way home from work!

The landy will be fine but just hates my driveway for some reason. It levels out at about 30mph and behaves*.

Glad it's still serving you well. It is a comfy old barge.

Absolutely HEART it, big time. Should never have sold the last one, still regret it. Probably miles off a Range Rover or whatever in terms of 'poshness' and toys, but  they got the drive spot on IMHO. Still my go to motor when I want to actually enjoy driving.

There’s been a local car meet which has started up since the demise of the Mavericks meets. For some reason I kept missing it, but I made it tonight.

One last show for the Pontiac in my ownership… disrupting a sequential run of Rovers

And then one I recognised from these pages. It was @Justwatching’s LTD!

For the first (and no doubt last) time in my life I can genuinely say I've been to Mercedes to pick my car up.

Expectations

Vs reality

It's been in for one recall that turned out to be three: Cruise control (they've been known to stick on), front seat belt clips and some sort of pipe brackety thing.

Disappointingly, it's not the worst they've seen ('far from it') and they didn't give me a full tank of petrol or £85,000 off a new AMG. They had some absolutely MEGA motors in the showroom: hate new cars all you like, but if I had the spondulicks I'd be in Merc's showroom first.

I had one very similar. Absolutely fantastic car. I wish I still had it

My S70 has pissed power steering fluid everywhere 🙈 it knows I’ve been looking at other cars… to be fair I’m always looking at other cars 😂. Can’t complain it’s a great car, haven’t had to spend money on it in ages.

Looks like your average Citroen Xsara Picasso when they get run around for that last year or two after the torsion bar has snapped and the rear arm bearings are holding on for dear life 🤣

Turd polishing....

Yeah it's only the spare and no one will see it but I felt bad so lazy wire brush up and some smooth rite, liquid gold tyre paint and will be ready to go back under the galaxy soon.

Brother's old P38 did something similar in a hot carpark. We were see-sawwing for ages before the engine decided to work.

This one just goes arse up face down whenever you start it - luckily it settles down once you move off! It just has that embarrassing ‘look, another fucked disco 3’ look when it does it 😅

It’s my birthday tomorrow so I went and saw my family this eve.

One job I really detest is changing suspension bushes so wasn't looking forward to replacing the absolutely buggered ones on the recently purchased Yaris t sport.

My son had these Lexus rear lamps kicking around and thinks they look good (not so sure myself but I'm old) anyway it's all irrelevant if I don't get under it and repair the axle mounting point.

Better look at that exhaust pipe while I'm at it.

a cousin of mine has bought this TDI A4 with 174k on the clock. Is this 'one of those generic Audi's we don't like but should give good service' or a ticking timebomb?

Fitter at work plugged the workshop’s all-singing all-dancing code reader into the Saab this morning to find the cause of intermittent EML.

18 codes cleared, including the fault, which is something to do with the wastegate actuator vacuum pipe. Located a tiny pipe from the vacuum pump with a very frayed and perished end. Cut back to good, it’s a bit of a squeeze, but no more EML.

Some of the faults were unusual - cooling fan open circuit, which is weird as it certainly runs in hot weather, and passenger door pack reversed. No idea, the window button works fine.

Will be interesting to see if any of the oddball codes come back

If the battery has ever got even vaguely low that can trigger all kinds of nonsense codes on cars this modern.  So long as the light stays out I'd not worry too much!

Ours was solid until it wasn't. Generally tough but the fuel injection pumps implode and take all the fuel rails/injectors out. Can happen 50k+ at any point.

Really solid cars otherwise and gave virtually no issues in the 210k miles between us and my parents before it killed itself. Far better built and stronger interiors than the B7 before.

It’s been a good birthday. We took the Disco and went to Brede woods. The boot of that thing just looks right when it’s got a couple of retrievers in it 😅

Seeing as it was muddy I decided to leave the pram and transform my son into a backpack.

Much easier to transport him that way, even if he did decide to occasionally bite chunks out of me.

We stopped at the model shop too and my mrs bought me this:

Now I definitely need to dig out all my old model making kit. Is there a thread on here for this sort of thing? Last time I made a model was an airfix kit when I was a kid, I painted it with a brush and it looked shit 🤣 I have an airbrush somewhere and I’d like some advice from a responsible adult…

We tested the battery as well, it’s still in good order as is the alternator. Which for a Fiat 1.9JTD is unusual

End of an era today - got all my crap out of the unit I've been in the last 12 years.

Not driven the focus in a while. Mrs gave me a lift home from Greenwich the other day. Soon as we pulled away it felt like it should be in the circus on the heath. Up to speed and its rattling my tits off. How does she not notice this shit? She did say her brother has asked why hers cars so bouncy the other week and had just replied its always like that.

Got a couple of spare 17's shall chuck one on when i get a sec. Might have a go with hand tools though have never done a low profile that way guess it'll be a little more tricky. Lost my access to tyre machines though have a friendly local place that would probably let me lose on theirs.

Currently rolling on the biscuits spare.

Washed. Clayed. Polished.

Probably up for sale this weekend - only because I need the money for my wagon course. However if I don't get the asking price it stays.

I really wouldn't sell tbh.
