That looks identical to the one I was offered by a lady local to me last winter. Down to the gold grill, the wheels and incorrectly spaced numberplate.

Alas, even with my poor taste in cars I wasn’t in a position/desire for purchase. Saw it had gone from her house a few months ago. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the same one. Can’t be many like that!

That's the high mileage v70 mot, just needed a top mount and handbrake seeing to plus other piffle. 

There's a warning light, need to find out what it's trying to tell me, I suspect an abs sensor.

740 has been daily faithful car in the mean time, all is good!

Agreed, most switch mode power supplies these days are multi voltage. More expensive stuff usually has different plugs you can put on them.

Sorted the headlining in the roffle Rover yesterday using new material.  Not perfect but a big improvement on the saggy original that kept tickling my head!

After the Saab passed its MOT without cost, I decided to spend the money I'd already allocated to it anyway.

On Tuesday it got new subframe bushes at the local Saab specialist.

Friday, I picked up a second hand cat-back exhaust, and tied it in with a visit to Karl @ Noobtune for a remap. Having pondered it for a while, I was debating a postal service option, but I had the opportunity to meet up and very glad I did to be honest. Within seconds, he was able to point out a couple of collapsed vacuum hoses and a broken breather valve that I'd not spotted, so I sat on ebay ordering replacements whilst Karl did his magic with the laptop. The remap is superb, and will be even better once I've replaced the relevant hoses.

Then Saturday I had a remarkably successful  few hours exhaust fitting - it almost never goes this well.

Nice, where did you get the material? Did you recover the existing backing board? Did you use paint-on or spray adhesive? I'd like to do the the headlining in my Mercedes which is going droopy and is a bit marked so looking for recommendations.

Thanks.  I used Martrim and recovered the original fibreglass board once I'd scraped the manky old foam off.  I used high temperature spray adhesive also from Martrim.  Think I'd shop around more next time though because their postage and packing was quite pricey.

Thanks, they were on my radar - noted re price though. I'll have a sniff around because I need to do the pillar covers too so it looks like a bit of a chore of a job all things considered. How much of the interior did you need to remove to do it?

The A, B and C pillar trims, interior light, grab handles and sun visors

More 145 fettling! The rear wiper has been stuck at 12 o’clock since I’ve had it and despite there being a feed nothing was working. The wiper motor in these is a bit of a work of art and seems way over engineered for what it is. The cover pops off and reveals all the inner workings. The whole lot appeared to be full of wax or grease, possibly rust proofer which has somehow leaked inside. With the motor removed and cleaned up I could get it to run and  “park” no problem. Refitted back into the tailgate everything was going well until it started to blow fuses. I’ve no idea why this could be but I soon ran out of fuses and packed up for the day.  At least the wiper is now parked where it’s meant to be instead of sticking up. 
 

Something which I’d never noticed before, the tailgate catch isn’t in the centre of the bottom of the tailgate, it’s slightly over to one side. I’m not sure why this is but I’m sure Volvo had their reasons!

Could the rest of the wiper mechanism be cummed up wth old grease? All that stuff around the motor's commutator and brushes looks like dielectric grease - a nice touch on something rebuildable like that.

I did think that initially but it’s all nice and free.  The motor would barely run at all it was so full of… whatever it is.

Day 1 today of "Staycation". Before you all get grumpy and pedantic, as I would, it is a genuine staycation.
Sorry, but going to Skegness and staying in a caravan is not a staycation. It's a holiday.

We moved here from Buckinghamshire towards the end of last year and what with it being Winter, then being busy and then both of us having a miserable cold for the whole of May, we decided to check out our local area.

Those of you who know the area, I popped into Lymington on Saturday - nothing to write home about as it was market day.

Today, however, we went to Lyndhurst. This very much reminded us that we live on the "edge" of the New Forest. Blimey, some of the prices for tourist tat. 40 teabags for £11.50? What's in them? Gold? Some lovely little sculptures made of some kind of tough plastic. Just £160 each.

What I did see, however, and didn't sadly get a picture, was a beautiful Alfa Giulietta GT (a proper one, not the one with the  plastic interior).

There is also a Ferrari dealer right in the middle of town with about 40 cars. I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of the newer ones, so it was rather lost on me. My wife has made it clear that if we ever win the Euromillions, we're getting a Lambo. She really doesn't like Ferraris.

This actually happened the other day but I forgot to post it!

I was sat indoors and heard a load of commotion outside. There’s a load of sparrows living in the front hedges and they were going absolutely nuts chirping and scrambling around in the bushes. 
Next thing I see something big and brown dive bomb the hedge, a load of shaking around in there and then loads of the sparrows fly out. Shortly followed by this beautiful fellow!

Sparrow Hawk! 
It must have been watching the Sparrows in the hedge and then picked its moment for a meal! Poor little Sparrow probably didn’t know much about it but it’s fed the Hawk. 
It came out of the hedge and sat there on the Mercury roof for a while clutching its meal and plucking the feathers out of it. 
In a way it’s not nice when things get killed, I like those sparrows and enjoy seeing and hearing them, but this is just nature doing its thing. The Hawk was absolutely beautiful though.

Its raining now, which is good as it’s washing the blood stain of the car cover!
