It basically is. They're highly impressive pieces of technology in so many ways

Just think how balanced that all has to be with all that electronics strapped to it. Incredible.

How on earth 😂

I barely slept last night worrying about it, laying on that machine having your head basically ratchet strapped down then slid into the washing machine drum for 20 mins -as soon as he said make sure I don’t move at all I instantly got a really bad itch on my forehead and kept wanting to move.

Now I’ll be anxious and paranoid until I get the results, I’ve convinced myself I’m dying now 😂

MRIs are horrible. Having claustrophobia I need sedating before I have one or a CT

Been cleaning up the Type R today, clipping bits of trim back on, polishing etc. It's coming up really well - done a bit, but mate showed up and invited me to the pub, and it got a bit chilly, so I'll continue tomorrow. The folks love it. 

 

I'm already 500 miles in as I drove it to London and back yesterday and it performed flawlessly. I need to think about giving it new tyres though. 

 

It's not really sunk in. I saw it and I just knew it was the right car. I drive it, and it's like I'm in the right place, it feels natural. It feels absurd, seeing that outside my house and knowing it's mine. But it just feels right, logical. I don't know how I got here, how I earned it, and I'm pinching myself. But it's like I'm home.

Took the TransSport (and both babas) to a local show At Bodrhyddan hall today.

Something wasn’t quite right on the way there an occasional slight hesitation in overdrive, and on the way home it started misfiring under load.  Hopefully something simple… 

To be fair the first time anything’s gone wrong in 18 months on a car I bought from a scrapyard… not bad going!

I went for one about ten years ago for my shoulder.  I got to choose the music from a book of  albums.

What I didn’t realise was that ‘Cowboys’ by Portishead was in the same key as the MRI scanner.  That was surreal.

Attacked the wing with a machine polisher and various shine juices. Shiny turd is shiny

I reckon with time the brush strokes and orange peel will eventually disappear. Not bad for a first attempt I'd say.

when i last had one checking when i had bruising to the brain, they said what radio station, i said local kmfm, they missheard and put heart fm... it was awefull

I'm guessing a bit, but at that age I'd be expecting a HEI ignition system (so conventional cap, but electronic trigger and an external ignition amp), worth checking the condition of the cap and plugging in a known good ignition amp module as they can and do fail.

I have a vague, vague memory that the distributor on these is an absolute git to get at, so the cap and rotor are quite likely to be ancient.  The ignition amplifier relies on a good thermal contact with the metal surface it's attached to for heat sinking, so it should have thermal compound under it.  People often don't replace that when they fit a new module, so it ends up cooking itself.

Of course after checking the basics...I absolutely, definitely didn't spend far too many hours chasing a missfire on one car which turned out to be a HT lead that had come adrift from the plug...

I've moved on to the other wing now. Fortunately this one's not attached to the car allowing me more time to do stuff. I painted two coats of Electrox with a roller but I still had issues with bumps and brush strokes as I had on the other wing. Then I discovered the magic of white spirit!

It can thin out and dissolve the stuff pretty well. It's removed all the bumps and smoothed the panel out quite nicely-

High build primer will do the rest. I'm well pleased.

I need to check out the exact workings. But I’ll check the simple stuff first as you say, hopefully a loose lead… 🤞 🤞

Just got a bollocking from an old bag at the petrol station.

There were two vacant pumps, both on the left. She was needlessly waiting for one to become free that was on the right. My filler cap is on the offside too, but I drove round her to one of the vacant pumps, and stretched the hose round to fill up my car.

Didn't think anything of it, and as I was paying (at the pump), she stormed over and asked why I was in such a hurry, claiming that I was "jumping the queue"!

I explained that the "queue" consisted of just her, and that there was no need to wait as two pumps were available. She then said that it was illegal to use a pump that's not on the same side that you fill up and that I was breaking the law. I told her to phone the police then, and that I'd wait for them to arrive so they could arrest me!

She marched back over to her car shaking her head. I could see what I assume was her long-suffering husband sat in the passenger seat looking the other direction. Poor bloke!

The vast majority of the abuse my wife gets in her job as a pharmacy technician are from older people. Vile, condescending, arrogant,  insular, entitled small town helmets.

Wonder if her car has got the little arrow on the fuel guage icon that tells which side the filler is!, and if she has spotted it!!

Not many people know about or have noticed the little arrow ( and some cars don’t have it).

They've had all their life to become completely sure of all the things that they're wrong about.
