Scotland achieved for me and family for a week.

Bugger all signal, piece and quiet, even with the kids!

Only sounds are the occasional boat sailing out of Loch Fyne and the even more occasional float plane. And nature and wildlife.

Aah lovely. See you all next week!

It's a 404, so I guess it was embedded and then deleted from the post before submitting.

Anyway.  Tell me about this 309, @MondeoBlues

It's a 1.6 GL Auto with fucked paint, not very old tyres, moss growing on the bootlid, and a mouldy interior from being parked up since Nov 2019.

Already offered it to a mechanic mate I'm afraid, but if he doesn't want it (and who wouldn't?), then I'll roffle it

I took a walk and explored one of several abandoned farms in the area. This is the largest and nicest of them and has not been inhabited since the 50's but some work has been done to save the house over the years. It was clearly a long time since there were people up here last and there was a lot of moose shit but luckily  did not meet one since climbing trees was not something I wanted. Here are some pictures if someone whold be interested.

The road up had a nice view but was steep and heavy to walk

And after a while in dense forest, I was greeted by this

Made some progress with my project, it's sat for 5 yrs before landing with me and I happily managed to get her running again today with new fuel pump, filter and anything rubber in the tank replaced after the nasty petrol dissolved it all. Not so happy was the alternator which wasn't charging, I found a quirky little old school company locally who managed to replace all the electric gizmos inside for a reasonable £55 after someone pre me had fried them with a suspected dodgy jump start.

Onwards and upwards !

A nice wee day up at Loch Katrine with the bikes today.

We just got cheap bikes to start us off but I'm glad I didn't skimp on the cycle carrier. The Thule Ride On is great, really easy to use all round. Needed a fair few more straps than were supplied but now it's solid. I love having extra lamps.

There's a thing you don't see any more.  The not-blue Ford badge.  I do hope it's because they sanded the blue paint off an repainted it to match the coach stripe themselves.

After a horrendous battle bleeding the rear calipers, a couple of track rod ends and a Tate of welding, that's the Burds Clio on the road for another year..

Cheers to @jaypee for his assistance and counsel!

Was up there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It's a very pleasant place to pedal around.

Remember this old lump?

IMAG5696.thumb.jpg.a8f6fefaf2dc22d0b30de54d1c38eb56.jpg

Finally got around to connecting power to it tonight.  It buzzes, which probably means the vibrator is vibrating like it should, and the buzzing gets quieter after a few minutes.  I can see one of the valves glowing when I look through the case vent too.  No smoke, no horrible smells, no excessive heat so that's probably a good sign.  I'll retest it with the case off so I can actually see what's going on inside.  Nothing from the selector light, and not able to pick up any static or stations (no surprise there, no aerial attached for a start).  I just wanted to see if it would power up and do something, which it does, so it's probably repairable since the general consensus seems to be these are pretty crude old things and easy to work on.

In other news I've been busy on the Golf, I've spent many hours polishing and cleaning it up and it's now looking quite respectable.

Hopefully you can see the difference in shine here.

I've removed a load of the tat and stickers off the car, serviced it, fixed a few bits and today replaced the 165/65/13 tyres for the correct 175/70/13 Uniroyals which have transformed the way the car drives and wound back up the coilovers by a inch.

I've also removed them shit German plate surrounds now too.

With the 165 tyres

I replaced all of the bolts in my grotty '70s roof rack, so it's safe to put on the roof of a car again.
