I've never, ever liked them - especially compounded by some of the terrible driving that was exhibited by some Juke owners thinking they could shit all over the road because of the high driving position. Forgetting that they were under-powered, two-wheel-drive, cheap shitboxes rather than the Range Rover they thought they were.

Unfair? Certainly. Stereotyping? Of course.

Always hated the Juke.

I think the same about all small-medium pseudo 4x4s but that might just be because they're very popular and ugly, so stand out above a badly driven Fiesta or Corsa.

My mate scrapped his (very) rotten micra a couple of weeks ago and I kindly* offered to dispose of the tyres for him, the fact they were the right(ish) size for my trailer of many blowouts was by the by. Today I have removed four of the most destroyed tyres I have ever seen off the trailer and fitted the micra tyres.

So far they have stayed up......

I liked the Juke for it's different styling - but the cockwomble drivers are putting me off.

Top marks to the woman in a Nismo one who appeared along the joining sliproad to the M1 from Trowell services as I was in lane 1 doing about 75 in my Jaaaag.  She accelerated like flipppery until she was directly alongside my door handle then speed matched me for a few dozen yards instead of maintaining her furious acceleration, then dropped back and joined the lane about a millimetre from my rear bumper.  When the traffic to our right that had prevented me from moving over even if I had wished to had gone, she resumed her furious acceleration and came past me gesticulating wildly and offensively.

Discovered this evening that lithium ion car jump starters do work after all, having successfully used the one I keep in The Volvo to start a guy at work's Renault Laguna II diesel, which had a flat battery due to him leaving the headlights on all day.

I recommend that you all buy one and keep it in your car and fully charged at all times ^^

What, keep a Renault laguna 2 diesel in the car at all times?

Will it fit in a Renault laguna 2 diesel with the seats down?

Seen some 'epic' driving today, woman in a newish x5 overtook me a couple of times and then I passed her while she was slow/being erratic, of course, she was on her phone. New VW transporter thing sat one inch from my back bumper while I was in a queue of high speed traffic , was very, VERY aggressive and as soon as I could pull over, I did and he shot forward to do exactly the same thing to the guy ahead. Loads of trailers being towed at 80 - 90 mph complete with serious side to side action.

Awful.

But the old heap of a Merc drove perfectly, seems to do over 30 mpg on a run even at 'decent' cruising speeds and is comfortable (not for me obviously, but then, nothing is) and quiet. I really do quite like it.

So the weird electrical problem with the Lexus resolved itself the other day. Im not sure it's even linked to the rain as I've had a car wash and been in heavy rain since. I do recall Neil saying the alarm once in a blue moon would go off. Most likely linked to that. Not sure if I want to waste my money on an auto electrician just yet then, I can't see how they'd be able to diagnose something that's not broken?

Can I be first in line when you come to sell this please - hopefully that will be prior to ours needing another MOT.....

Just sold my first car Fiesta via Faceache marketplace (and also posted on Gumtree). Only had a couple of chancers offering silly amounts and quite a lot of interest generally, which considering my missus thought the thing was only good for the scrapman was decent, so getting £600 having had a clean pass MOT a couple of weeks ago is a pretty chuffing good win.

Replacing it a couple of weeks back (I really need to get that pez shot) is a Focus mk2 with a proper arse (of which there are not that many about) that I picked up from my Ms Slappy's parents' neighbours for less than what I received for the Fiesta. Has 100k fewer miles too. Happy days!

I had been a bit apprehensive that I would be dealing with so many "swop.4 xbox" wankers, that I would never want to touch an online selling facility again, but in the end it was pretty painless and I'm actually reassured that a good percentage of the inhabitants of these Isles are actually decent people.

Also... I've never had this cash to burn thing ever before, need a new bike, laptop and camera though....

The phone thing really grates on me, it's completely selfish and I still don't think the penalties are harsh enough. You can't do it by accident, it's a concious act. I see some frightening driving every day and people are more and more distracted by the ridiculous "infotainment" systems in their cosseting modern motors.

Glad you're getting on well with the Merc!

Lady Grumpius is a teacher and regularly confiscates phones in lessons. Some of the kids don’t even realise they’ve done it, so practiced is the action...

What was worse was, she was texting with the phone on the steering wheel. I think texting is worse than speaking and seems more prevalent.

Yes, I do like the old Merc, it seems a decent car after I sorted its few foibles out. Glad the ABS/BAS light was a cheap fix after specialists said it needed a new ABS pump!

Is the weight rating high enough?

Yes, it is only a lightweight trailer for behind the car, I have an Ifor Williams CT177 (3.5t) trailer for anything heavy.

Good point though

I see this every time I go on anywhere on the motorway in my Discovery (cos I can see down into cars to see what people are actually doing).  If the Police were properly funded to address this and other shit driving, I'd be very happy.  Silly thing is, it really wouldn't be expensive to do with modern camera technology.

Driving to Devon in a hired SWB vindictive-spec 67 Transit. Seats are crap. Van’s alright otherwise apart from the shit speakers and lack of air conditioning...

In a moment of madness last night, I agreed to a deal which saw my E34 530i, a car which I stated I would never sell, leave the fold and in return brought in a car which very much epitomises the 'unloved' but which has very much shocked me.

I've always kind of slated these and thought they were a bit odd but always fancied giving one a try. My mate bought this from another mutual friend earlier in the year but had been trying to shift it on to purchase another E34. After a bit of discussion a deal was reached between us and the exchange occured yesterday evening.

First impressions? Pleasantly surprised! To be fair, I think the biggest issue with these cars is the manufacturer badge. If it had been branded Japanese and if you take the car on its merits as a Jap motor then it more than, if not exceeds expectations.

I do miss the 530i though, but there are strict conditions that I get first refusal when Chris comes to sell it, so I will have it back at some point.

Shit it failed.

The bit of metal I had put in the sills a few years ago has rotted through.

It didn't look like it had so he must have been poking it as it wasn't through this morning. Will see when I go to get it. Dilemma now is bodge it or spend loads getting it and the arches done at the bloke next door.

Spent the afternoon cleaning and rustproofing The Aero's rear wheel arches, as I reckon that if they were left alone for another couple of years, holes would start to appear, and that would be doubleplusungood:

It was very hot work, but hopefully it was worthwhile :)

As well as the usual Vactan and Waxoyl, I used a couple of cans of this, which I got from eBay:

It's very good and only cost £20 for four cans, two of which have already been used on The Volvo's edges and ledges ^^
