That one I had was either just under or just over 2k I can't remember now. It had done a ton of miles , which is what put people off . There was a really good service history and a recent 600 quid bill for some work on the abc system . I only had issues with the maf while I had it . It was lovely to drive and really fucking fast.

I remember you selling that. Even as a Daimler-Benz era snob at the time who only liked M113 V8s, I was SERIOUSLY tempted by it. Lovely looking beast and I bet it was amazing to do long distances in...

It was. The only time I did a long distance in it was when I went on a failed trip to swap it for an SL280 but when I got there the roof didn't work so I had to drive all the way home and got caught speeding.

Nipped back from Spar, and realised I've never taken a good pic of the 75 in my car picture taking spot. Job jobbed.

Freshley restored AA badge. Is I a Giffer?

On a pale blue Rover 75...you need to ask?  Seriously?

(Looks good though, by the way.)

Sometimes you see something interesting in the taxi rank.

I've seen a plated Skoda Fabia working in Cambridge but last night I couldn't believe my eyes.

Newmarket High St. In the yellow and black colour scheme...

A f'king Tesla!

Honestly. Who uses a £60k car as a taxi?

I wonder how much extra it would cost for the driver to demonstrate ludicrous mode?

Funny, I've been noticing this a lot lately- brand new 5 series and E class Mercs in place of tired old Octavia's and Avensisisises? Something has changed..

Lease plans or similar I reckon. My dad is using a 3 year old Peugeot partner 1.6 hdi auto with 150k on the clock so it's not filtered down here yet!

Saw this in my friendly scrappers at the weekend...

It's only a bloody Tercel! Haven't seen one of these in yonks. All the running gear still present and plenty of parts for people who need them...

During the recent outage I've helped deliver a Panther Solo to its new owner in Shropshire, he purchased the car at the NEC auction. What a bit of kit that was, 800 miles on a '92 K plate, Cossie lump and 4wd.

I'm busy getting the Kallista finished for its new owner and I'm considering the fate of the black Bini Cooper.

Glad we're back to normality, I've missed this place......

What what what what..... a Solo, oh my word I had sleepless nights over those as a kid , I'd cut off my left nad for a lick of one of them funky headlights

I've been to Wales on a bike trip, it was SMASHING apart from all the bastard rain.  We found a little motor museum in Llangollen which is little more than a dusty barn filled with old and largely unexceptional stuff, so I loved it (unlike everybody else).  Autoshite Trip Advisor score = 5 stars

No Wales trip report is complete without a shot of the spectacular scenery, so here's a lovely snap from the Elan Valley:

I forgot to post this the other day, the guy with the Ital van also has this rare Fourtrak pickup, it's a ex farm hack which needs a gearbox repair before it goes off to become another farm hack again. It's been of the road since 2008 and only done 33000 miles. It didn't look too rough, i didn't pay much attention to it at the time but I'm now quite fancying it myself!

I went to look at that seat marbella as featured on the ebay tat thread today, it's a very original and honest little thing which wouldn't take too much to get back on the road.

Just had a look at the listing again and it's doubled in price over what I would be happy to pay for it, nevertheless I went to set up a snidey snipe bid as I'm at work when it finishes and the site is no longer free.

I'm taking this as a sign it's not to be...

Your a bit late for sf15! Did you get to look out the back in the little field?

Just went down to book the xsara van in for a mot at my usual place. He had a spot to do it thereally and then. It only went and passed with no advisories! Fast pass on the diesel emissions too, not bad for 273k on the clock!

Well the little X1/9 has driven further today in four hours than in the whole of the last fifteen months! Drove perfectly, although the day did start a little anxiously as there was a strong smell of petrol when I opened the garage door and it had left a puddle on the floor. Bugger. Started instantly and I backed it out and had a look. The sump was dripping fuel which was coming from the fuel pump gasket.

Spare tyre out and open the little inspection hatch - this allows you to see but not actually touch anything useful. Mope up fuel from gasket area and it's weeping back instantly. Oh hell. Go to shed and get longer screwdriver and manage to tighten all the bolts holding the pump on- most at least a half turn.

Mop up with more kitchen roll and hooray it's still dry. Start engine and leave it running for ten minutes while I stare at it. Still dry, more hoorays!

Got home without stopping in three and a half hours which is ok, even better fuel pump exterior still dry.

I think a new gasket is on the shopping list though.

On the way down near Shrewsbury I was passed by a y reg Capri 2.8 with RS wheels. I did wave but the grumpy guy didn't wave back.

question for Barry cade and other X1/9 folk.

The pump looks like this one.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-X1-9-X19-FUEL-PUMP-/262940607645?fits=Model%3AX+1%2F9&hash=item3d387b449d:g:QR4AAOSwr~lYorjm

Which like mine has a wide spacer between gaskets with a little hole in it.

But the new ones look like this.

Why the spacer with hole basically?

I'm guessing it's a heatproof spacer,to stop heat transfer into the pump?

Maybe? But why the hole?

Haynes ( book of useful information / lies) shows an exploded view with the spacer, and just calls it a spacer.

I'm not too worried at the moment as it drove perfectly down the motorway network, including panic inducing traffic jam on the m6 and then m40. A 29year old mid engined Italian is not the car for stop start traffic if you want the idle to remain smooth and water temp to remain below 90 :-)

While I'm here, does anyone have a recommendation for a proper car cover company? A guy I bought seats from the other year has recommended auto pyjama, but there are several grades.

After replacing one front wheel bearing and buying the other I'm hoping my wheel bearing type noise has been cured by adding 1/2 a litre of oil to the diff.....
