The new news 24 thread

Thanks for the words everyone. I have sneaked on before kids get up. It was very prace full she drifted off with me holding her hand which is what she wanted. For all the lads and ladies with female partners. Make sure they have smear tests when necessary. My wife refused to have them and ultimately cervical cancer killed her. Also I am posting this now so we can carry on with the news. People allways feel a bit awkward in a thread such as this. People are asking how I feel and it's a feeling of relief that my wife's suffering has ended. I have also been under a lot of stress for months so at the minute me and the kids are fine and starting our new chapter together without mum. In other news my brothers astra has finally give up the ghost so he is now the proud * owner of my honda crv , well he will be when he comes up for the funeral. Just hope the honda gets him back down to Devon. Should do . I have just got my Japanese bus now and when life settles a bit more I have no doubt I shall buy something totally useless . I do like honda civic and accord coupe's . We shall see. Thanks again everyone and please post your news .

Only seen this. Sorry for your loss chap, thoughts with you and the family.

more trivially....I'm pleased I recently found an original dealer key ring for Cuff Miller on ebay (the original dealer for the Mondeo). Even more when it came perfectly and expertly packaged (which is often far from the case!)

Though to be fully authentic - it should not have a phone number starting 01! (the 1 added in 1995).

My brother had a qashqai on finance, but had the wisdom to dispose of it in favour of "another shithead car"

Today he invited me round to inspect what he had sourced for himself. He has done us all proud with an £80 mazda. I'll let the pics do the talking:

Amazingly under all the grime and giffer damage it's actually not that* bad.

Without doubt my favorite feature is the previous owner upgrade to manual front windows

Went to the tip to clear out some rubbish and ended up bring a small wooden toolbox back that had been thrown out.

I think my dream job might be working at the dump, my unit would be kitted out in unwanted shite in no time at all...

Does your local tip actually allow that or did you grab it on the sly? All the ones in my area show your reg number on a big screen as you drive in (presumably stored somewhere) and are covered in CCTV. People really do chuck daft stuff away, my mum saw someone driving into a local tip with two big Marshall amps :/

^^^ ... there is always 'freecycle'?(you no pay 'mongtree-lite')

OTOH people just don't want mouthbreathers at the door :/

That Mazda looks like a Cavcraft special, it's only the lack of Barbara Cartland endorsement that suggests otherwise.

I did ask him if he'd got it from Chester or Bolton

Ha ha. I thought that after I typed it. In other news today I fitted a single din Bluetooth radio cd to the Japanese land barge. A double one would have required some fettling of the surround and it would of ended up in a hundred pieces with my deft touch. So single it is.

When I was buying my lovely boat the other day I noticed these two little beauties. At least they still have the windows in, unlike my purchase, and a small amount of T-cutting should have them sorted in no time. If anyones tempted, and who wouldn't be, I have the address. (Of a councellor.)

The Jumbuck sold today, and has provided a big chunk to go into our new mortgage,  but I will be looking for a cheap diesel winter hack soon too.

I sold the Impreza today. Reluctantly in the end as it was growing on me. 51000 miles from new and all very original. It felt well put together and was giving off positive vibes. Would have been a nice wee reliable winter wagon.

Dolomite 1300 now has new fuel pump fitted and the master cylinder is removed for a refurb.

Petrol spillage was minimal although I damn near lost a nut for the fuel pump down the drain as I dropped it and it bounced the length of the fucking garage away. Also ended up in the footwell upside down for an irritatingly long time as the Dolly's luxurious shag pile carpet had unravelled and tangled around the clutch pedal making access to the split-pin impossible without lots of flailing about with a pocket knife.

Hopefully will have a running and driving car by the end of play tomorrow...

Mercedes finally went on Wednesday last week which was my second day back at the old firm. Had a couple of frantic calls and texts from the buyer, the yard owner and the MOT garage situated at the top of the yard where the truck driver was looking for the Merc.

Thankfully all was sorted out over the phone by me and the Merc is probably making it's way over the Fatherland on its final destination to Poland.

Since then, I've had a couple of calls from people who were asking about the Rovers, I could have sold them my 820i SE no toruble had I known they were interested. Oh well, thats also gone now, massive new bills haven't though, so I'm certainly back to my usual struggling financially again, hey ho. :|

Had a whole day of VW FTP's. All 58 plate and newer. All peoplez cars are shit. And sadly a biker knocked off his bandit, looked nasty but he's pretty OK. A BMW in the 3rd time this week for no insurance and a Amazon delivery driver who thought his transit was actually a unimog. Need to sleep now.

Amys about to go and buy a new car seat, and started banging on about isofix. I don't think the meriva has it. She says it does, as her friend has fitted her isofix seat into it before.

Cue me adamant it doesn't, her adamant it does. Nothing is mentioned in the manual. Fuck you love, ill prove it. Out we go, look, no isofix label, no... Wait, what's this? Only 2 bloody isofix anchor points...

A more thorough re read of the manual and apparently it's Vauxhall Familyfix... Which happens to conform with isofix standards... Stupid vauxhall

I don't like being wrong, but I'm sure wrong on this. Hopefully she will buggar off out soon so I can get on with stuff!

Back in 1991 I had a brand new Cavalier SRi and over enthusiastic cornering caused the baby seat complete with younger son to fall over, apparently I was wrong not Vauxhall.

All Vauxhalls are shit, when it comes to baby seats. The rear belts in Senators were too short to fit round a rearward facing seat- MrsN thought it made me a bad parent when I said I'd just wedge it in against the passenger seat back. Hence going on holiday in an old 2.0 Granada when the new 24V Senator fleet demo I'd blagged specially, sat outside the office- Wimmin!

I'm being tormented by SERIOUS BURNING DESIRE for a XJ6 after missing out on Partridge's one.  It's becoming an obsession and I'm starting to lose my objectivity. They're shit, aren't they?  Worse than a P38, correct?  Please say it's true.

Isn't it a good thing anyway? Isofix seats are far more secure and tested more throughly than those belted in. So in an accident your little 'uns are far more likely to not be injured.

Iirc, isofix was mandated in all new cars in 2004.

Oh yes, I wasn't complaining, I just wanted to be sure before she spends out on one that won't fit! I'm used to seeing the omgisofix stickers everywhere like moderns have, and it's got none
