That's a stretch from Southampton! Well done. I was going to ask, what's the story with the Favorit spoiler? Yours has one, mine doesn't. Was it a dealer fit thing? I only ask because I'm missing the rear downforce in the Woodcote and Abbey sections of Silverstone, and I think it's hurting my lap times. Wibble, Semi-C, Supernaut and 1 other 1 3

Yoss Posted May 26 Posted May 26 ^^ I did 348 miles yesterday! I was considering whether I should go or not but in the end common sense went out the window and I I thought I'd go for it despite it being further than the car has been in the last three months since the engine rebuild but it was fine. I think I can consider the rebuild successful. The spoilers were fitted as standard to the higher spec cars, which yours is, but it had a new tailgate fitted before the repaint, they can rust quite badly, and they never bothered refitting it. In my cars defence he says it is now garaged and rarely used and mine is the opposite of that but credit to him it is ridiculously clean. So much so that I took a picture of his door bottom! The whole interior looks like new too though I didn't get any pictures of that as I was too busy just looking at the immaculate carpets and seats. I'm actually quite happy that it is better than mine. It's good that somebody is keeping it in this condition so that at least one exists like this while I can carry on using mine every day and just keeping it reasonably tidy. I'd rather it was that way round, I really don't think I'd want the responsibility of owning something this good. Rust Collector, RayMK, wesacosa and 3 others 6
artdjones Posted May 27 Posted May 27 The rain stopped for a couple of hours, so the Mégane is back on the floor. The weird resonating/knocking on the overrun has gone thanks to the new driveshaft, and everything else went back together fine. Except for spending €155 on parts I hadn't banked on. A very low mileage hub, and ABS sensor, plus a new ball joint, after noticing a tiny split in the rubber. Annoying, as the old one was less than a year old. Rust Collector 1
RobT Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I've been on a collection mission today. I didn't pay those pez prices, it was just for show. The XC70 @ruffgeezer had for sale and it's a lovely old thing. They've never really been on my radar but it ticks plenty of boxes. I also wanted a car from a trusted shiter as there's so much overpriced crap on eBay etc these days, and the pressure has been on to get a new ULEZ daily since the Forester shat itself. I bought this manual 323 Sport a couple of weeks ago thinking I could cope with changing gears for a while, but no. Can't be bothered around town. Auto waft is the way to do it IMO. Split_Pin Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Made a new buddy with one of the dads at my sons basketball club who's into RC cars and we've been rallying them about the grounds of the old house that's part of the estate the hall sits on. A second person and his decent phone camera netted a few good shots of the MB: I snapped a few of his 2 cars, they're insanely fast. He fitted 4 wheel steering to the Gravedigger one. RobT Posted May 27 Posted May 27 No worries it was worth the ask! I'll punt it on some other way. It's a decent car despite some suspension knocks and a bit* of rust.

wuvvum Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Had unexpectedly good weather today so I thought I'd crack on and get the Merc done. That didn't quite go to plan. I got the rear anti roll bar bushes done after a bit of a fight (they are an extremely tight fit on the bar and there's too many bits of suspension around them to get any proper leverage, and one of the Torx head bolts rounded off and had to be sliced through with the grinder), but the spring proved to be more of a challenge - I got the strut off the car with no issues (unlike the ones on the bloody Eos), but because of the way the spring had snapped my compressor was only able to grab hold of one coil, which meant that it wasn't able to take enough tension off the spring before it ran out of travel. So I'm going to have to run the strut round to the garage tomorrow morning and ask them nicely to swap the spring over for me, so I can put it back on the car and take it for its retest. At the moment it's sat in the drive immobilised which means I can't charge the Mitsubishi. Split_Pin and Six-cylinder 2

Maybe for the best. Thought id chuck the new washer pump on quick before breakfast. This of course turned into a war when the rubber decided to disappear inside the bottle when removing the old pump. I mean how did it even do that? A random act of fuckery which in hindsight was always going to be the way. Much plastic shit removed and now have working screen wash. The even refitted some of the fixings for said plastic shit. Back_For_More 1
Dyslexic Viking Posted May 29 Posted May 29 15 hours ago, cms206 said: 240 has become mostly too expensive for this now but if you go back 15 years, this is in this condition the typical teenage car, at least in rural areas in Norway. And the Saturday night is spent outside the local petrol station or similar, the driver is 18 and an agricultural machinery apprentice, and the friends of the same age are builders apprentices or similar and in the back seat are also two teenage girls who all 3 are trying to get to bed, everyone except the driver is drinking and on the car stereo is a song about a bloke named Reidar who has bought a new manure spreader. The Volvo is parked in a group of cars and tractors and mopeds and it's about the same conditions in all of them. And later, someone decides they are a rally/racing driver, leading to episodes like the picture below. lesapandre Posted May 29 Posted May 29 UK car production down to 1952 levels - 59,203 - perhaps we'll see the Austin Somerset reintroduced - hope so I'd buy one 😀 Though commercial vehicle numbers bump it up to around the 300,000 mark. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgrydlqqn8o To put these numbers in some perspective - Morocco made almost 500,000 vehicles in 2024. nomiST, Stinkwheel and loserone 1 2
