The mileage will be much lower than you expect for a van that is so royally fucked. I came off my last van duty about three years ago, I'm back on the trolleys now which is a much better place to be.

But my van at that point was about nine years old and had only done 38k which sounds good. But my delivery started just over a mile from the office and I covered between six and seven miles a day. You would use fourth gear on the way out but barely would on the delivery itself. So it did most of that 38k in second and third gear. About once a month I'd have to fill it with diesel where I might use fifth gear for about ten seconds. That's ten seconds a month! So as you can see if you measure it in engine revs it would be equivalent to much more.

We also never wash them. There is a hose in the yard and they could easily stretch to a bucket and some shampoo but there is no time in our duties to do it. It could be somebody's full time job as we have forty odd vans but they would never stretch to that.

Most of them have lichen growing on them but I took these pictures in February 2020. There is a sponge pad beneath the scuttle, I don't know if it is a cabin filter but this is what happens when you never wash it. It was the same on both sides.

This is carbon offsetting. I don't know if it is ULEZ exempt but it should be with this.

Saw a brand new looking RM branded DAF 7.5 ton wagon on the M1 today...crawling along the hard shoulder at about 20mph with the hazards on.

A good omen of things to come I'm sure!

The absolutely hanging 08 plate Vauxhall Combo we used to see locally has recently been replaced by a 13 plate Fiat which is in even worse state than the Vauxhall was - it honestly looks like someone has rolled it, just pushed it back onto its wheels and continued as if nothing happened.  Literally every panel on the nearside is stoved in.

I didn't really know where to put this, it could go in any number of threads but here we are.

This is definitely not shite yet, but it's a brave choice and they certainly weren't worried about depreciation so good for them.

Could also have put it in the parking thread but everyone parks like this in this road.

Also a good colour combination with the bright blue BMW behind.

It's a shame Genesis hasn't really caught on in Europe, despite the success of Kia and Hyundai. They are currently trying to gain market share by concentrating on electric cars here since it works so well with their non-premium brands and I can only wish them the best, they are all great cars. The G70 petrol I rented was a really good car and looked no less premium than an A4 or Lexus IS.

Seems to be a fairly.commom thing amongst this era of Vauxhall estates. Although whilst all Vectra B estates, SRi/GSi will have roof bars and spoilers combined:

Only thr Vectra C GSI has spoiler/roof bars combo:

As my old C' SRi didn't;

Of course, by this point, the "SRi" (Sport Refinement Injection) didn't really mean anything anymore.

Even on the Zafira A and B, were the roofbars an option or subtle:

I'm glad I've got mine, I even have a spare set. Never had to use mine but it's good know it's there if ever I need it. I have a couple of times had to transport stuff on the roof of a car without a roof rack etc...

Pedant point. Roof RAILS are fitted to the car. You have to attach roof BARS to these. You can’t put things directly on the roof (well you can but not advisable), you need the bars.

Less to complain about tho. Next target tourists? 😃

I think it's more likely for tourists to complain about Ireland. Not necessarily the weather, no-one expects perfect weather here, but the sheer expense of accommodation. So many hotels have been taken out of circulation that mediocre bed and breakfast establishments can charge €120-150 a night per room.

There was a time when we'd repair things like that. You can see them now by the different state of pogweaseledness on some vans. But as you can see they don't really bother anymore.

Our Peugeot vans don't seem to pogweasel like the combo vans did, but their still new*

Ours are always plastered in mud (which hides the damage well) around here from all the back lanes they have to drive down. Usually always some 'how tf did that happen' sill or roof damage too

Our local RM place runs absolutely knackered looking Partners - dents, scratches, plastics all shattered/missing and paintwork pogweasled or just pink instead of red. Last week he turned up in a proper shiny red Fiat Doblo (14 or 17 plate - not sure) with NO damage. Turns out nobody likes driving that one so it's some sort of depot spare that gets shunted around West Wales as needed. Looked tidy :-)

Presumably just a mistake. Fat-fingered parking attendant hit the 7 key rather than the 6.

Have you pointed it out? I would think they would instantly abandon it...

send them a letter billing time and telling them the attendant needs to put down cheezburger/tea/reason for living before using implement

A demonstration vehicle came into the yard about half an hour ago.

I can see that lasting well on a rural round, though it is a narrow chassis (7ft 2in)

It never rains but it pours. 1 car written off and awaiting me to fix it. Replacement car lasted less than 24 hours after repair at a garage and is back again with the same fault, and now my mum's '93 Astra has broken down with some very odd symptoms, running on 2-3 cylinders and no brake servo assistance? I think it's got either a head gasket gone or burnt a valve out, seen the 1.4 SOHC do that before. More spannering on the horizon!

Did a compression test on mother bungle's Astra, #1+2 plugs looked good while #3+4 looked a bit unhealthy.

Cyl 1

Cyl 2

Cylinder 3, zero, and the sound changed as gasses were being pushed out of #4 plug hole. Conclusive head gasket fail, time to order parts!

Love it but also find it hurts my eyes as well.

Sorry, it was blasting left and then right. Snapped a pic on the move when it returned.
Despite appearances, taking photos of passing automotive fantasies is not my day job.

Some highlights of my visit to the Transport Museum in Bratislava yesterday. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Bratislava.  Not sure if you went on your visit @Rust Collectorbut I'd recommend it for next time if you didn't

Morning London fleamarket find. It's 1976 last year at Earls Court. 197 printed pages of goodness. Not bad at £2.

Having the windscreen changed as well as chopping 18" from the floorpan really messed up the proportions of the Audi .

Don't forget it was an homologation special (S1 E2) for Group B rallying and was never really a 'road' car ...

This... The reason for the oddness is what makes it cool

Also, I'm not sure they were great lookers even before that, so nothing was really lost. I still think it's just a case of "Emperor's New Clothes" that 1970s and 1980s Volkswagen products are generally considered to look good, but that's another matter!

Biking at Coed-y-Brenin today. My so-called mates have gone off to do The Beast trail, which I did last year and didn't enjoy. So I've gone rogue to do some more of the easier trails which I do actually enjoy, rather than endure.

We have hired Specialized Levo e-bikes which are incredible machines. An invisible hand propels you up inclines making one feel like some sort of Tour de France winner.

I haven't fallen off (yet) but there's still time. Pics to follow once I find a signal or WiFi
