Lockdown madness led me to be annoyed that an accountant deleted the screw covers from the i10 door handles, as I'm sure you'll remember.

I replaced the screw, but wasn't satisfied, so did some parts delving and worked out that the ix35 seemed to use something similar. £2.18 delivered from AliExpress!

Will they fit? By jove, yes!

Which proves my theory the i10 was designed to have them.

Humour me, m8s.

Emailed the garage that had been servicing my Jag prior to my ownership. Big up to Marina garage, Bournemouth for replying. The V8 has an issue with timing time tensioners cracking due to being made of plastic. A job Hoolie did in the past on his xjr. Anyway the good news is fiver years ago, 5k miles past, it had new chains and tensioners fitted😁

After yesterday's Passat caper, back to giving the Rover some more love.

I'd switched the fronts to the rear, one of the rears replaced the ropey looking spare, and new Toyo Nanoenergys went on the front because cheap but not Wangwong death rings (hopefully).

I've still got that rear OS caliper to change, but the front OS has also started to bind now.  Fuxake.  May aswell replace the lot and be done with it!

I'd have a look at the calipers just in case they can be freed off. Could just be sticky sliders or something.

Took the Transit to work today to burn off some of the juice before it gets scrapped. The oil light remained lit, then flickered, then went off half way there.

I absolutely love this van and have decided to try and get it for a pre-MOT to see how bad it is and whether it can actually be welded.

Indeed, I'll try that first.  The area around the pads and sliders does look a bit rusty.  The rears did need replacing though.

Good choice on budget rings, @RobT. I have the same on the van (XL version). Fronts have done me 30K so far and counting, down to 5mm - backs still at 7mm. Quiet, and grip well

Not long after moving into the new place, one of the neighbours saw the BX and said there was another 'funny old Citroen' in a nearby street, from what they described, it sounded like a CX.  Imagine my surprise recently when a silver Citroen CX Safari drove past... and it had six wheels!  Too slow on the camera unfortunately, which was a big disappointment, so I don't know if it's that infamous one with the plane-trailer or another six wheeled silver CX.  Made the walk to the shop well worth it, at any rate.

Got quite a bit of capri action coming up that will keep me busy,  stripped the 2.8 injection yesterday for a new wing coz rotten and all the fixings came of without much fuss,  amazing!20201026_181057.thumb.jpg.424a8975023633ffbbbc8b61d6816439.jpg

Also stripped a classic Mini in preparedness for a new sill panel but failed on the picture front,  but I do have a large Kit/Jigsaw puzzle when this Mk1 gets a new coat of paint

It wouldn't surprise me but I dare not ask as I might get suckered into helping with his latest modding scheme

I sat on the wrong side of the train for the view.  Tiredness error.  Now a walk up the hill to my steed.

I see they're abandoning cruise ships down there too. There's more outside Bournemouth and Weymouth. It's good of them to park them all outside popular seaside towns to add a little interest to the horizons. It's about all they're good for now.

Marine Traffic tells us they are Ventura, Arcadia and Queen Mary 2 (one is clearly a Cunard boat).

There are four more parked off Torquay/Paignton.

A little more browsing found Queen Victoria just up the coast.

And clicking on the Past Track button finds its currently on a little joy ride.

Makes you wonder how much all this costs and how much longer they can keep doing it.

Theoretically, banning shite exports would be good for us.  The Morrocan shite ban disrupted a holiday plan I had years ago to road trip down there in an old van and not bring it back (didn't have time).

What a load of shite,

I must keep an eye out for one of those blackmarket ABS units!!

Ways to make you appreciate how much space stuff takes up: having to pile things all in one spot while undertaking a major renovation of a room.

I don't have a vintage technology problem...no...I can stop any time I like...

There are three computers and another television hiding under the desk too.

PS. Yes I know the floor is gross.  It was under a bed since 2014 until a couple of hours ago.  No point in cleaning it yet as there's about to be a load of plaster dust generated when I start drilling holes for shelves.

A few shelves, and that lot will turn into a tasteful art installation which should be up for an award.

@Zelandeth I ask myself that question several times a week (with vacuums).

Selling stuff helps, the first is hard but then you realise the space you gain!

I'm a massive hypocrite telling you all this though... I'd look on Facebook and buy something retro to take you mind off it all...

I think mine is an SGS. Very good bit of kit, but the 'instructions' are hopeless. The assembly diagram looks like it was originally 50x50 pixels and enlarged from there.

Now arrived and assembled, useless instructions and castors were a pain but managed to assemble solo which was a struggle as it's so heavy.  I am very impressed by the quality as opposed to an ebay one I borrowed a while back

Great value for the price : https://www.sgs-engineering.com/ec1000-1-ton-folding-engine-crane

Looks like I've bought my old Civic back. 😂

In-laws who I gave it to are buying a 3yr old C200d. Merc dealer offered £feckall and no doubt will scrap it as not worth the hassle to auction.

Done 156k at last MOT, so probably almost 160k ish now. 2 owners before me (Honda employee then someone else), I bought in around 2013ish. Written off as a Cat N (non structural) in 2018 when someone went into the back of me at traffic lights (post in this news24 thread at the time). I didn't know I was going to get it back so bought something else. Got it back, repaired it (crash beam and adjusted boot catch) and gave it to the in-laws. FSH when I owned it (every year) and it had the clutch done at around 97k. In-laws had it oil+filter changed service and MOTd, so should still be alright. Only fault that I know of is Aircon dead (pipe went soft this year, suspect stone in condenser usually on these) and mix of tyres (annoys me that as there was Michelins on when I gave it). I'd fully trust it to go anywhere and I've been everywhere with it - from Scotland to South of France.

Not sure how much as it depends what it's going to cost for me to get it back here. Going to be £LOLcheap for a fully working car though as don't really need it and it stresses my wife out when we have too many cars on the drive.

I'll do a proper for sale thread once I get it back.

Here is an old picture of it and the first I came to when looking for one. Was a holiday cottage in West Wales somewhere and we got a sudden snow downpour.

Just put a new sump on a mazda for a mate, side of the road on axle stands, in the cold and rain. I'm getting old. Ouch.

Massive news... I have just ordered new wiper blades! Not just any old blades either... genuine Mercedes Benz wiper blades (Like M and S wiper blades but more expensive, which is better, right?). I really bought them because the genuine items come with a little mark on the ends that changes from black to yellow when they are worn out and the car currently has the little yellow mark showing on the driver's side blade,  without a shadow of a doubt, they were/are the best wipers I've ever had on any car, so more of the same seems like a good idea, no?

Also, saves all that dithering about whether Bosch or Halfords own brand are better, or should I buy from eBay/Amazon? I am a born again ditherer so just buying the same again is sensible... ish. Also bought some more Waxoyl to blast around underneath it if it ever stops pissing it down!
