Here's the odd petrol powered bicycle from last night. Any ideas what it is - he was doing about 30mph.

It's a bicycle with an engine attached. Perhaps if you knock him off you might be able to identify the make and model of the bicycle?

You keep asking for ideas what it is. I've already outlined my thoughts of what it is in post no. 58001 and so has DW in post 58003. I stand by my thoughts.

To keeping on asking for "ideas of what it is", is just insane. A generic kit isn't going to have a make/model.

Ahhh, yeah I'd forgotten about that fix. Would that work on a 2.2 turbo diesel automatic Merc? Bearing in mind that I am a complete novice....

Also, would that just work in tandem with the existing one?

Shit. I need the one on mine done and I was planning to get it done by the garage.

It's a common fault and there are step by step guides on the forum, maybe I will have a go myself (also a novice/mechanical incompetent).

Ayrshire, is why I'm not on a train to Ayrshire.

FTFY :-D   (of course joking - lovely and immensely beautiful part of the planet)

Heard from the bodyshop: the car is ready, but they're no longer able to deliver it back to me and I can't get there by train before they close so I'm going to pick it up on Saturday morning.

I didn't need it this week, but this is a bit silly.

I know it's crazy & not very AS. But why not just run one car?

Go and wash your mouth out with soap and water.

Posted

I think Hooli isn't far off, the normal AS plan is to run one car while having about 20 other projects....

Euro’s seem to have a proper, legit, kosher and genuine sale on atm. Not the usual #fakenews stuff.

I might be wrong, but I just bought a Bosch oil filter and a Mann air filter for £3.99 delivered.

If it’s not a sale, then it’s cheap anyway! #Flash50 until tonight x

Hooli just got the wording wrong.

The AS way is to have one car running.

...plus fuck-knows-how-many hopeless cases projects.

Air filter, oil filter and 5L of oil for the BMW for £24! (Yes, I know it takes more than 5L, but I still have a couple of litres left from the last oil change).

How many fucking litres in a fucking four six banger?

Moreover, the Euro sale won't let me use the 50% off code.

Moreover, the Euro sale won't let me use the 50% off code.

There were a few items I needed that didn’t work on that code, like a battery, so I did a separate order and got an Exide 063 battery for £41 using Batt50.

I need it tomorrow, so CP4L no good.

Euro/CP4L/GSF are shit hawks. I always shop between the three and pick the cheapest.

Use eBay for some things - wiper blades for the X5 I’ve just ordered for example, half the price of any of those and Trupart wipers aren’t actually awful.

eBay can be REALLY BAD for some things though - drop links with MTBF measured in minutes. Fit them for a MOT and it might pass if the drive to the test centre isn’t too long or bumpy.

Went and picked up the new ML last night.

No collection pics as it was dark and snowing so nobody wanted to hang around too long

The actual sale had taken place earlier, and all paperwork sorted with the the notary

Its a 2002 270cdi with all the toys including full leather (heated in the front)

Ice cold aircon front and rear, all the usual electrical gubbins present and working

Fully serviced whilst under it's original German owner with the last stamp being only 24000 km ago

Drives very well for a 224k km car with just a couple of dings in the paintwork and could do with a new steering wheel

The Mrs drove it home and is pleased with it

She had a bit of a baptism of fire as it was her 1st time driving for over a year, shitty weather and fecking insane locals driving like.....well....Bulgarians

Pics are from this morning whilst I stuck a decent stereo in it

Nice. How much did you pay for it? Whats the procedure of buying a car over there? Loads of BG cars here in Turkey. Mercs seem to be popular with Bulgarians or Turks bringing in Bulgarian cars....

I know what you mean when mention Bulgarian driving...Turks are utter shitehawks at driving. Very much a "me first" and "I'll do whatever I want/push my way in and pull out just as you approach" attitude. You don't wait at a junction, you push your way out of the junction.

I bought 5, they sent 4 in one box, and 1 in another box. There was a lot of bubble wrap involved.

Both boxes were big enough to hold 6.

I was cycling home this afternoon at 4ish when I was passsd by a guy on a bicycle with a two stroke petrol engine. Oil smell and noise when he passed. Not a velo solex or anything legit. Seemed to be a small motor attached to the basic bike frame. I do have it on camera, but it’s still attached to the bike, and im not. He wasn’t going a lot faster - say 30 to my 20 and then he took to the pavement on the other side of the road. Any ideas?

Well it could have been worse

Sorry only just seen this.

As Mally says, it should fit depending on top hose diameter, and will work fine in tandem. No problem to use a jubilee clip around the outside of the hose to keep it in place if necessary, it can't be moving around in there.

Something like this is what you're after, bearing in mind you can get different temperature items:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-Thermostat-RENAULT-SUPER-5-1-1-89-90/332447788710?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

You would need to drill a small hole towards the outer edge (fit it in the hose with the hole at the top) to let a bit of water through.

Jeez - I wouldn't have the balls/expertise!  Defo need some car fiddling buddies to learn with.  Always a lack thereof!

We paid 5500 lev for it (around £2400)

Whilst there are many cheap cars out here you do need to spend a bit more to get a good one...

Buying isn't to much of a hassle tbh

You need a residency card and passport if not a Bulgarian

The seller has to prove that the car is legal to sell,ie registration/ insurance ect

Also no outstanding speeding or parking fines on it

The actual sale us done at a local notary office, who confirms everything and sorts the legal side of it

The car comes with a 2 pc Talon or logbook and once bought you get to go to the local Kat office (dvla), and spend most of a day getting it replaced with your details

Although it is starting to get done online with the notary office dealing with the Kat on your behalf.....for a small fee of course

Nearly four hours on the A1 in the Xantia of Excellene in very poor conditions. Really battering it down with rain and very strong crosswinds. Absolutely no problem cruising at 70 MPH solid in the fast lane. The most interesting thing is that there has not been a single Audi tailgating us on the whole trip, which is unheard in normal conditions. I cannot stress how stable a cruising platform the Xantia can in decent fertile and with expensive tyres. Just marvellous.

Hnngh. Still sort of miss mine. It was cosmetically fucked, but drove so soooo nicely, if not exactly quickly.
