Hnngh. Still sort of miss mine. It was cosmetically fucked, but drove so soooo nicely, if not exactly quickly.

The amazing thing is that this particular Xantia is the first car in a while that I have absolutely no will to see gone. I cannot seeing it being sold on for a long time, not that it has any residual value anyway. I literally cannot think of anything that would replace it, and be as effective a tool for the money. What’s more it’s already passed one MOT under my ownership without needing any work and it is only going to need a tiny amount of work for the next one. It’s been 100% reliable, comfortable, quick enough with the 120 bhp remap, enjoyable to use and frugal. They are a bit of a pain getting cheap insurance for, but that is a small price to pay for such trouble free motoring.

Fitting a Ford engine to a Vauxhall, isn't that like a mortal insult, though I don't know which would be the most insulted.

So I have had a clear out and put a load of sh.. I mean quality* items on ebay. My phone goes at lunch time "che ching" (I do like that about the ebay app). Sold an alloy wheel I had for sale. Great, message comes through. "Can I collect and pay cash please" No problem says I, pings him my address. Next message, "I'm on my way, coming from Kent". OMG a friday afternoon run from Kent to Cheshire. Some people are bonkers.

It's a wheel from a Range Rover my mate had repaired and was getting rid of by the way. Still waiting for him but just had a text to say he is an hour away.

Not really, lots of old Fords running the GM redtop motor.

Crossflows and Pintos have been fitted to plenty of Vivas over the years too.

I agree nothing wrong with swapping engines between the 2 manufacturers

As with the red top I'm popping one in one of my fords as well so that's another to the list, it did get boring at shows seeing every other rwd escort with one though

I've just bought a classic mini, currently set up as a grasstrack car, it may stay that way as a weekend fun car or I may restore it back to a road car, unsure.

Pics to follow.

Thrown into the deal was an L plate Toyota Corolla. One owner from new with all paperwork and low mileage. Again, pics and details to follow, will be for sale on here shortly.

Yay, the proper Bosch fuel pump I paid a hefty premium for has arrived, replacing the cheap Chinese knock-off with the wrong terminals that I got from eBay.

Except...yup, it’s not a proper Bosch one, it’s another crap unbranded Chinese knock-off identical to the one I’ve got. Just several times the price. Plus postage from Germany.

Verdict: Autodoc (and euspares and all their other fronts) are liars and thieves. Never buy from them.

Well after a months advertising and a load of timewasters the Thunderturd didn't sell. The good news is I had a really good January so there is a bit of cash to carry on with it. I had a quote to paint the roof of 400 quid so I better order the exhaust and windscreen from the states on monday. I might even take the Hearse to show the painter to get a quote on sorting the bodywork on it as well.

Always pay attention to the feel of your clutch and don't ignore little groaning noises from it.  This is the lesson I have learned.

I also learned that the AA, Ashford Recovery and Kent Police are all sympathetic and nice.  And learned that breaking down at temporary traffic lights in the middle of a storm and gale is less than fun.

We signed up for the Barcelona or Bust rally. Buy a car for under 500 pounds and off you go to the sunshine. It’s not until September so I wasn’t really expecting to find anything interesting with a long enough MOT for a while yet. I didn’t have a firm spec in mind but the ideal car would have been a 4 seat convertible with an auto box. My son saw this 2.3 NA Saab 900 SE floppy top with MOT until November on FB for 350 pounds. And not very far away either. So - we waited until it was dark and pissing down before going to see it. Seller was a really nice guy and the car drove well so of course I bought it. We waited again until it was dark before we collected it tonight. It was only 10 miles away and as it came with 1/4 of a tank of petrol - no pez shot. And no drama. I did prepare for the trip by reading up on Craig the Princess’s recent collection which didn't put me off. The only thing declared broken on this car is the hood doesn’t work - TADTS. It's dry inside. That’s not too bad - everything else works. It has leather and only about 65,000k on the clock. It does also have some scratches and dings which the seller told me about - we’ll find out in the morning just what that means. Meanwhile it looks like this and I’m feeling pretty smug.

Blimey can you buy a windscreen and have it sent across the Atlantic? How much does that cost and where are you getting it from?

If you have a screen shipped fed ex it is over a grand but I have found a specialist who ships a container once a month who will bring one over for a couple of hundred quid. If that fails I have found one in France for 500 quid

Got one of these bad boys today - will probably only ever get used to resurrect the 214 every few weeks when I lose interest, but none too shabby for £26

I once accidently stabbed the battery of my tom tom with a knife. Terrifying. It was like a firework going off. I through it across the kitchen floor and it burned a big hole in the lino.
