Finally found my place

Well, first off a quick intro, I'm Neil -51 from Yam Yam country (Pensnett , in the Black Country)

I found my way here via Facebook and Mr Hubnet himself, following his videos on youtoob and then onto his FB musing.

Must admit I've never been a fan of 'the must have' when it comes to 4 wheels..I yearned for a Hillman Avenger, Skoda Estelle and even the humble Marina in the past...I have owned my fair share of vehicles in 28 year s of licenced driving..**cough cough ** and a few un licenced.. :(

Among the way i've done the Must wash and polish every week..parking in corners to avoid dinks..But now it gets washed if i think about it, left anywhere on the car park, and generally this seems to have no downsides!!

In my possession at the moment I own a 2005 Citroen Relay 2.2 Hdi van, generally sound, very dented and has 230k miles..starts first time , every time - even after standing for 3 months, and has the wonderful aroma of wet dog thanks to previous owner, I also own and run a 2003 Fiesta 1.4 zetec in what appears to be 14 shades of Colarado red...and to finish - for my sins a 2008 Generic XOR125 chinese scooter that has sat in my mothers garage since buying it for £40 18 months ago !!!

In my time I have owned 3 minis, 5 metros, 2 marinas, 1 Ital, 2 cortinas (MK4 & MK5) 1 capri MK3, 1 renault 14, 1 Opel kadett, 2 skoda estelles, 2 volvo 240 saloons, 2 rover 214's, 1 rover 418, 1 rover 820,1 rover 220 turbo coupe, 4 Ford escorts MK1 - MK4 , 3 Range rover Classics, 5 land rover discoveries, 5 SWB series 3 Land rovers , 6 LWB series 3 Land rovers,1 land rover 90, 1 land rover 110, 1 freelander, 2 Pajero, 1 ford transit, 1 LDV Pilot, 2 pug 405 estates, 1 allegro, 2 yugo's, 4 zafiras, 3 mondeos, 4 sierra's, 1 bedford HA van, 1 dolomite 1850, 2 lada niva's, 1 fiat panda, 1 fiat punto, 2 vauxhall astras, 1 VW derby,1 merc a class, 1 vectra, 1 corsa,

no doubt more that have fallen out of my memory...longest i have ever kept a car was 2 years (Mondeo Tcdi).....shortest was 15 minutes (rover 220 coupe, that would have lost me licence in seconds)..

I'm always looking to swap or deal with something else...have very rarely been bitten or lost out in a deal..must admit as i've gotten older i have slowed down a bit,

Loving looking through the old threads - but miffed that a lot of photos in some of the threads are missing due to the age ...But hey ho..

So thanks to all for reading this...and now back to the old threads again!!!

Hey, don't worry about the pics in the old threads, I can't see half of them in the new threads. Not that it's niggling me or anything......

Oh aye, Hiya!

Welcome to the forum! I know what you mean about the whole mint car thing and car parks etc, I'm much happier in something a bit rough and ready- my st220 is almost too nice for me and I tend to grab the keys for the scruffy 1.8lx instead!

Tea's over there and don't piss in the plant pots other than that, welcome along.

Hello! Welcome along. The old photo problem is a combination of Facebook being twats, and Photobucket being even bigger twats sadly. It's ruined an awful lot of forums.

cheers muchly folks

Welcome aboard! That's quite a collection you've had!

4 Zafiras though? Statistically you should quite literally be on fire by now

Hello there! Did the licensed years of motoring come after or before the unlicensed ones? :)

It's getting silly that the price of what were unloved cars now being in the stratosphere, the likes of Ladas & old Skodas, and even Marinas are going utterly stupid

Well I think there should be some sort of initiation such as being sent to a foreign country with a small amount of money and dependent on what he drives home in, a Rank will be set!

Only teasing welcome aboard.

Welcome to the crazy. You've owned a Dolomite....... you'll fit right in.

Welcome along Neil.

Only down the road in Halesowen, so able to provide morale support if needed as spannering skills not up to much.

Cheers

A warm welcome extended. Good beige experience there! And your current van - I've been properly impressed by how much punishment they can soak up. A mate (not of this parish) had one that he abused solidly for best part of a decade. He got himself another...
