1990 metro 1.0 clubman, white with lots of rust and an mg metro steering wheel... Literally rotted away around me.

1994 fiat uno 1.1 ie "start" (converted to start + spec with the addition of a digital clock). Petrol blue metallic and 5 forward gears. Brilliant little car, shame about the rust.

No1. 1956 Austin A30 grey over black. Became grey over black with cream doors and boot lid (because of second car) and postbox red around the windscreen because my mate was brush painting his MGA and decided that my car needed a bit of red as well.

No2. Cream Austin A30 non runner bought for parts to "improve" No1.

No3. 1965 Ford Corsair V4 1.7. It was only 4 years old but was a forerunner of rat look. No bumpers or radiator grille and white paint was highlighted with red primer where chrome trim had been removed.

I am teh yoof so my cars are crap...

First was a 2008 Toyota Yaris 1.0 T2. That's the base spec model with the 3-cylinder engine.

Y-arse-is-9.jpg

Second was the 1977 Triumph Dolomite 1300. That's the base spec model and within 300 miles of purchase it had a 3-cylinder engine.

Third was a 2012 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4T "Black Edition". I was lured in by TURBO POWAH. It was shit.

1971 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser -  would love to have one again

Let me guess - ex McGraw Kaserne?

1973 VW Passat GL - took me from Munich to Benin across the Sahara with no glitch

The Olds or Piggo would have probably done an even better job.

I crossed the Sahara en route to Kano with an e12 528. It was a messy ordeal.

1982 capri 2.0 GL, utterly gorgeous in every way

1978 mini clubman, thrashed to fook everywhere then written off by an idiot in Leeds who tried to overtake me as I turned right.

In 1997 I bought a 1985 Hyundai Stellar:

Which was retired in 2002, and replaced by this:

This was impractical for house restoration, so in 2004 I bought a BX (early digital camera!):

Sadly I sold the 75 in late 2005, but both the BX and Stellar are still in my possession and not looking too bad:

1.....1939 Ford Prefect. Never failed to proceed and only caught fire once.

2.....1952 Humber 10, badge engineering special and vapour lock bastard, always a 20 minute wait before

it would start again. Refused any attempt at a fix.

3.....1955 Ford Popular, because I missed the leaps across the road after hitting bumps. A perpendicular

Ford speciality, but only if very poorly maintained.

No photos because you don't care and I can't be bothered.

Factoid.... the Perfect was about 26 years old when I got it. My current Mazda Lantis is 26 years old.

Nope, was in the US of A...

The Olds or Piggo would have probably done an even better job.

Piggo yes, Olds, not sure, ate as many gallons per meter as the passat needed liters per mile.

Would never have reached the next gas station (back then, there were stretches of 600 to 700 km with no fuel), even loaded with jerrycans as the passat was. Across Algeria and Niger with rough or no roads the passat did eat about 20l/100km and there was nothing wrong with the car.
