The most ‘enthusiast’ first car ever?

Got married in the early 1970s but only had a provisional motorcycle licence and a 1971  CZ175.  Passed my test on it but wife needed a roof and a heater, so part exchanged CZ for a Reliant Regal.  Moved to new house after a couple of years saving hard but the longer commute took its toll on the Regal, perhaps too much heat.  Man maths solved* the very tight financial situation to enable the purchase of a brand new 2CV6 because cheap and I liked my Norev 2cv.  Snag: No car licence.  Had a handful of lessons in a Toledo to unlearn bad habits from Regal driving, passed test during the 6 weeks 2cv6 delivery time and piled 98K on to it in the next few years.

The post motorbike progression was thus:

Fiat 127gt, found an actual pic of it as well on the googles (I think this was after I owned it, I never had a cat):

My 2nd car was a fiat 127 sport, black with orange piping. I wish I still had it!!

My eldest learned in the wee Mazda, which then became his first (and current) car...

My youngest learned in my RX8 (insurance wouldn't cover the 323 for a learner as it was now 'too old'), and then took on the old jeep...

Don't ask how much the insurance was, into his second year now so has come down a bit!

After the Fiesta I moved on to this. Only a 1300 so a bit of a slow and heavy barge but not a bad old thing really.

1981 Triumph Dolomite 1300

Last seen sold on eBay in 2023 and also now SORN but I think it was taxed until recently.

Looks lovely in vermillion. Same colour as my first car, which I owned between 1994 and 1996.

My first car - 1979 Austin Morris Mini 1000

I had my heart set on a mark 1 VW Polo or Vauxhall Shove-it by my BIL convinced me to consider a Mini.
