Six Cylinders Motoring Notes - Progress with the Mini Mayfair, if a little slow.

I'm thinking of coming down on Saturday for a few hours as I enjoyed my last visit.

I might end up having to give this one a miss - my hip is currently playing up to the extent that it's painful for me to drive a manual, and all of my automatics are currently broken.

My sister's family has PLAGUE, so the Mothers' Day party is off.

Dyane/FoD interface is GO.

I'll hopefully be able to put in an appearance on one of the days.

I'll bring over a battery and couple of cans of fuel to go in the Cavalier.  As I recall the tyres all looked in decent shape aside from the NSF one which had a huge bulge in it.  I can't remember if there was a spare with the car or not.

Target for me if nobody's already done it: get that bloody Bedford started... we'd got pretty much everything sussed out as I remember, just ran out of electricity and time.  Will make sure to bring my decent jump leads.

The Bedford CF transporter will be available to those who align with Mrs6C and think the slow, noisy, uncomfortable truck should be on the road.

Are you all testing before or after ? Or not arsed ?

Here have a picture of my first 2 tests this time last Friday.

Your point?

They're in north London, I'm in Staffordshire, the parents are in Worcestershire.  There's been no contact other than by email or phone, so transmission is unlikely...

There is no obligation for everybody to test, but if you have symptoms or been in contact with somebody who has Covid do please test.

This is my negative test.

We are mainly outside.

It is up to the individuals if they what to share a space/car with others and look after yourselves. This is not a business and you are invited to our small holding as friends. It is important that you generally look after yourself and others to avoid accidents, we do not have insurance for you.

I was thinking about FoD rather than your family.

Not seen my wife in person for 12 days. Hopefully I won't be testing positive this time next week, as she's off on holiday with her pals on the Sunday.

Daughter has it, so won't be visiting her on mother's day. Son is organising zoom call.

25% of staff off at work. I reckon I'll still be testing positive into  next week, but I'll start working from home on Monday.

I would love to make my first trip to a FoD event, and hopefully that will happen this year - but it won't be this time unfortunately.  So lots of pics and news please people...

All are expected to attend and no more fake notes from parents to say Johnny is excused FoD!

But sir, Johnny must be excused from the FoD!

Gutted to be missing this one actually. Was looking forward to the season-opener but I've got to spend my weekend watching some blokes pull apart a PUR dosing machine and stick it together again.

I've just had my first day back having gone off sick on Tuesday - I don't think they'd be too pleased!

I might be back to plan A. of bringing the scooter on my slightly shonky trailer which I'm not certain about putting that much weight on over a long distance.

I'm going to swing by work first thing and see if the van I was hoping to borrow is back earlier than I'm expecting.

I've got to fly tip some pallets at Winslow allotments en route but will be there in the morning 👍

I've got a finger under bandages though after a small accident this morning, @Six-cylinderdo you have a box of latex gloves rolling around in the range rover I could pinch a few of to stop it getting filthy?

I will put some in the car, I am planning to use the 230 TE.

I think I'll need to sit this one out unfortunately as I want to have a look at the Carina's oil strainer this weekend before taking it on a few long journeys on the advice of @Saabnut

You can rev-match and clutchless change can't you?

I can, but that won't be a lot of help if I get stuck in traffic.

Looks like I'll be getting co-opted into domestic duties tomorrow, so most likely will be Sunday I'll be about.

Crank on the starter in 1st gear and then you're off.  C'mon... find solutions!

Yes, I've had to do this to get a car with a snapped clutch cable home before now.. several times.  no, i wouldn't actually start a journey like that...

Practise makes perfect! I learned how to match speed and revs in a company van, so a few crunches did not matter 🎯

Was out on the piss Thursday night so since I have no clue who I touched or after a certain time what I did I've done a test
