Only one FX4/LTI Fairway left in Glasgow as far as I can see. Some right old R/S plate TX1's though.

Is that the F-plate that only appears about two nights a week, driven by a fella who looks like Ayatollah Khomeini? F108 HSU I think it is.

Was surprised to see MCW Metrocab M755 BNS still working a rank in the north side during the week.

As a slight tangent, my 09 Mondeo Ghia Estate is an OMG CAT C repair and lacks the 2.0 badges on the wings I was thinking of getting a couple of Cortina wing badges, the shield shape with 2000 written on them. Classy or tacky? Sadly I'm an iPhone user so I can't link a pic.

If you mean these, go for it,although these ones in the picture went for £36 on eBay.

Although I might not be the right person to ask regarding tackiness, I once put a set of these on a Mk3 Granny. They flew off about as many times as the ones on the Charger in Bullitt. Sometimes got passengers to go back and pick them up.

Scottish taxis are weird, in the major towns and cities have mostly brand new or under 2 years old Skoda Rapids, Octavias, Seat Toledos, Avensis, with some Passats and Mondeos, infact my dads 09 Jetta is one of the oldest I've seen in the greater Glasgow area, but venture a little further out and there's loads of stuff like the Mondeos Andy posted, others like a W reg Rover 45, out Kirkintilloch/Bishopbriggs way there's an N plate Cavalier, just shows how tough it must be to make cash on the taxis these days either they or these guys prefer them to the tidy 05 Mondeos/Vectras you can get cheaply to use as a semi respectable taxi these days.

These ones you've mentioned have pushed out most of the diesel Mercs from the airport.

In Cyprus you can still find the odd W123, usually LWB, and very occasionally a W114, still working the ranks.  I did spot a Fintail wearing taxi decals, but never saw it moving, so it may have been retired.

And yes, it was me that posted the 190, E-plated here in Barrow.  Warninglight actually posted it before I did but his photo was pants (he admitted as much!) so I was very pleased to be able to grab a decent shot at B&Q one day.  There are some interesting oddments in the sea of grey blobs here, including at least one Jag X-Type.

On a slight tangent I saw a 406 estate taxi today , with a customer on board , stop for fuel and put a tenner in !

Surely you would just fill the fucker up

I drove cabs on and off for about 10 years and every firm I worked for had at least one driver that would shout in hungover, penniless with about half a gallon in the tank. They would do one job, go to nearest garage, put 3 quid or whatever the fare was in and do 2 or 3 more jobs, put more fuel in etc etc.

One of dispatchers used to be a right swine and offer the driver an airport run first thing knowing he had no cash or fuel!

almost all taxi drivers to pay less tax and national insurance on their earnings put £15/£20 in at a time as they need to keep all their receipts for tax purposes, if they are continually filling up full tanks but claiming to have done hardly any work then the inland revenue are going to smell a rat and wonder why the tank is being brimmed regularly if the driver is claiming the car isn't getting used much. So if you put £15/£20 in each time, that's all the receipt will show and you then "lose" some of the receipts, so its easier to convince them you've not made much money/not worked much, Allegedly.
