I may have a 'Big A' from an Atkinson(larger than the one pictured) but from memory it is in poor condition and in two parts (broken).

I can rummage in my shed if you think it may be of use,but as a gift probably not!

Is there any chance of having a rummage in the shed please.

Just a quick public THNX to sheffcortinacentre for sorting me out with a new Hunter rad at a decent price.

A++++ WD RECOMEND

Talking of rads, anyone got one for a BX diesel? Though not blocked, it's pretty ropey and most of the fins are rotten so time for a change methinks.

Leads on suppliers near Birmingham at a reasonable price also welcome!

Xsara/Saxo/206 1.4 gearbox wanted for a friend who will pay me to fit it.

It's going into an otherwise very good condition 2001 Xsara 1.4 that will be for sale afterwards.  He's into his cars but has a buggered back so can't do it himself at the moment.  I asked if 306/ZX gearbox's were any good but he's fairly sure that this Xsara uses the same box as the Saxo and 206 and I have no reason to doubt him.

I asked if he's sure tabout spending money on it before he sells it and he is and will go to a proper garage if I can't/won't do it.

Anyone got a spare mk3/4/5 Cortina front subframe knocking around? Complete with suspension if possible, my newly acquired eagle must have been parked in a bush as one side is kippered!

Cheers!

Wanted: set of alloys for Big Rover (75). Not bothered about the rubbery stuff that goes round 'em. Either boggo standard 75 or MG ZT alloys are ok as it would cost me more to have the one's on the car refurbed. That can be a job for next year.

The alloys on ebay are light years away and a bit pricey. Can do a bit of cash or swapsies for a pretty much unused small'ish compressor that I have used twice.

As near to Herts/Beds/London would be superfab.

My Cyprus friends have dragged out a Mk1 Avenger to restore, but the tailights are shot so they need a pair.  Whole units would be good but I think just the lenses would be ok too.  Both sides, hockey stick type.  Please.

If you can't get scrapper ones then Speedy Spares probably have NOS - http://www.speedyspares.co.uk/cgi-bin/speedyspublic/speedysweb.cgi

I hope you're going to encourage your Cyprus friends to do a thread on this!

Dave, I suppose your Estima is long gone, right?

I was just reading your two old for sale threads, and thinking I should be looking for one as my next WVO-friendly works hack and tat hauler.

Posted

Yes, they seem to be a good, proper Muti Purpose Vehicle.

If anyone spies a bargain-tastic one like Dave's, let me know. (Jap-spec thing, similar to a Previa, but 4WD, and diesel. Manual ones are rare, so I'd have an auto at the right price.)

Haha, thanks Alex. I did spot that one, but it looks like a breaker to me. I'd prefer a pre-'94 one for insurance reasons.

I found one at about £450, which looks a better bet and is still on the road:

There's also a nice-looking contender on 'SWAPZ' : http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/4807138/Toyota_Emina/

To be honest, I'm still in the "looking at pictures on the internet" stage; I think it's gonna be next year before I make a move, I have too much going on for the forseeable.

I know that stage. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the imminent collection thread then. :)

What are the diesels like?

I drove a pezzer one a long while back and all I can remember is that the engine sounded like a recording of a jet powered wood chipper played at full volume on a top loading tape deck through a megaphone via some '80s Alba speakers. In a filing cabinet. Or something.

Do all the rear seats fold/spin/come out/do a dance etc?

I reckon you'd need to be a fairly strong mentalist to want an Eminem Estima Enema Estimate, they all seem to shit their head gaskets and turbos on a regular basis.

You know me Billy!

At £500-ish, it's not the end of the world, I could drag its sorry arse onto the top field with the other breakers, and buy another one.

I know they use the wrong fuel, but I think the petrol ones are a much better bet.

Posted

Not if I have almost unlimited, almost free fuel here. This is the only way I could run a big motor, a pez one defeats the point. AND THIS IS AUTOSHITE!

Also I don't think I'd find a 4WD petrol one. 4x4 will be handy for lugging our shit about, if you've been here, you'll understand.

I realise the diesel ones are slow and a little bit crap, but I have the MR2 for hooning, and the Justy for little jobs.

Anyone got a single DIN CD player they want rid of, ideally something with an MP3 socket?

Actually, come to that, I'm after a driver's seat (or all 4 seats to match) and a set of front electric window switches for a 1998 Mazda 323 if anyone happens to have that down the back of the sofa.

Posted

Phil, if you find a good seat, but in the wrong colour, you could easily* swap the cloth over to make it match.
