PhilA Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I'm always surprised how far up the chain some twats and c'ts manage to climb. I used to watch the shows Noel did as a kid but that's because there wasn't much else actually on. Phil
Eddie Honda Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 and to have people so close watching was madness. In fairness, it was the done thing at the time. Just like bonkers Group B rally cars, driving around without clunk-clicking and smoking on the Underground. JeeExEll and Burnside 2
flat4alfa Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 It definitely was It says so in yellow Eddie Honda 1
AMC Rebel Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 As others have said I'm amazed that someone could survive that crash and to have people so close watching was madness. +1 on the Edmonds hate after slagging off the Strada and subjecting us to Mr Blobby he deserves to be rinsed by Lioyds Bank. ^This x eleventy billion. Edmonds deserves to serve a prison sentence for Blobby alone. And that's without even starting about blobbygate which even I'd have to admit wasn't 100% Noel tidybeard's fault. bigstraight6 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Can anyone else remember The late late breakfast show Noel hosted in the early 80’s? I seem to recall him driving a Lotus Esprit in the intro, all that stunt stuff was bonkers though, very different times...
egg Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I've never seen that. It almost seems so unreal as to be a spoof. oldcars 1
SiC Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Born in the mid 80s, I'm a child of the 80s/90s and thus I was the target audience of Mr Blobby. My parents found him annoying, both of my grandmothers despised him. Me and my sisters however absolutely loved him! He's such a lovable goofy rough. I probably still have this on cassette somewhere. I would have been 7yrs old.[Video] oldcars 1
SiC Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 It all went down hill from there didn't it? Start at a peak but never quite reach the same giddy heights of music perfection. flat4alfa 1
ProgRocker Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Good God - the crashes in that video were shocking. All in the aim of beating ITV in the Saturday night ratings race.
BorniteIdentity Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 My friend was the voice of Mr. Blobby. There you have it friends. Numberwang. GrumpiusMaximus, Brodders, richardthestag and 3 others 6
Vince70 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 And he also likes a ringer of a Range Rover apparently so he must be a real tightwad.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-461023/So-whats-wheel-deal-Noel.html Burnside 1
AMC Rebel Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Also not mad keen on buying a telly licence it seems, despite all the millions he had off the BBC over 33 years Burnside and Lacquer Peel 2

Braddon81 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 This was the record the were attempting to beat with the Jensen. Although this is an independent video recording, I presume the shows producer had some hand in it as Mr Edmonds is narrating and the music is identical to the Late Late Breakfast show. They had two stabs of stunt jumping on the show, the first was on the second or third ever episode and featured a Whirly wheeler jumping a Hillman Hunter Gt. Hed been told the correct speed to enter the ramp... but had a rush to the head when actually attempting the task and just stuck his foot down... he cleared all the cars he was supposed to land on and came to a halt with a couple of feet to spare. It actually transpired he'd broken the then current UK jump record. It used to be on YouTube but has recently be pulled off. oldcars and Burnside 2
STUNO Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Fear not Englishmen and the rest of the UK, Rumours have it that Mr Edmonds is soon to join the underworld and is purchasing digs a residence in this region. We are all delighted and excited that he is said to be in retirement.
barefoot Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Of course it is Santa Pod, it's written on the fucking gantry! What I meant to say was, 'fuck me, Santa Pod has come on a bit since then'. I've been a guest in that there tower and I really can't remember that great row of trees behind the start line. flat4alfa and Eddie Honda 2
AnthonyG Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 That is incredible - nowadays there’d be multiple investigations after the first crash with the Escort. ‘It’s OK, we’ll just move people back a bit and let the next bloke have a go in something much bigger going twice as fast!” I remember some stuntman competition thing that was shown every year on ITV around the same time - similar sort of madness. One stunt that sticks in the memory was somebody drove a Hillman Hunter under a lorry trailer - the roof was meant to come off (like Jackie Gleason’s police car in SATB) but didn’t shear off cleanly because the pillars hadn’t been sawn in the right places - this nearly took the guys head off! oldcars 1
cort16 Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 I must have got brain damage in a Noel Edmonds endorsed car crash as I can't remember posting this or seeing that video before. That Jenson is really fucking moving. oldcars, aldo135 and barefoot 3
Asimo Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I remember watching that TV jump as it happened, made me feel quite sick. Does anyone remember Edmonds and that fuel-saving gadget scam? Some magic black box that would make a gas-guzzler do 100mpg. Beardy DJ lost a lot of money to some slimy trickster. And him such a car-bloke too!Snigger.
egg Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I'll tell you what, this doesn't feature in jolly talking head retrospectives of old TV now does it? In the same do not disturb box as the Savile and Stuart Hall stuff. oldcars and Datsuncog 2

Invest In Y <our> Future YKIMS Thieving Scum :/What are you on about?
sierraman Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Let me get this right then, the guy in the Escort was killed and the Jensen was seriously injured?
cort16 Posted November 24, 2018 Author Posted November 24, 2018 Savvy is gong on about how fraud at Lloyd’s bank caused Edmonds to lose his business and Lloyd’s won’t accept responsibility for it I don’t think anyone died but the jenson driver was quite badly injured . https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-berkshire-42889087
sierraman Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Wasn’t there a helicopter crash on Noel’s house party as well? When he was something to do with the Panoz team there was a fatality in the race. Moral of the story... don’t work with Noel Edmonds
