    Exactly .
We don't need our nappies changed over things like this.
I deleted my own fleet threads because there was little to no interest and it was just taking up bandwidth. But I'd never touch any thread that I created and I can see people care about. Even the LCBL Audi thread as my ownership is just a part of its appreciable history on the forum.
Anyone who isn't grown-up enough to act in this way or is just attention seeking quickly gets flushed out and either ignored or they move on.

In fairness that's how it is. A lad I know a bit recently got quoted 500 quid approx to do some work on his rs6 by an audi dealership. He bought the parts at £ 259 and did the work himself and was scathing about what Audi wanted. The extra 250 quid has to pay for the building, the wages, the utilities etc etc. Sometimes I think people think other folk should work for nowt.

Growing up there was one of these down my street. a 1.3 GL 4 door. Aged 10 you could keep your ferraris etc, what i really wanted was one of these. I absolutely loved them.
Back then they were cheap first cars (around 1990) couple of hundred quid and scrap it when the mot was up. That is assuming it hadnt dissolved already, or been crashed.
Then a strange thing happened. They vanished overnight and then slowly they started getting expensive. By the time i started driving they were not mega expensive, but just hard to find.
My route to a mk2 escort was avoid 2 door (££££££) avoid uk RHD (££££££ plus most heavily welded or rotten)
So here we have a solid LHD import 1.3GL which is being delivered next week…

I changed the engine oil and oil filter today and there was some good news. I have until now used a heavy duty diesel engine oil in this and think it has cleaning stuff in it, this has now got all the oil sludge out of the engine.
This was the oil pre-filter that came out of the engine now after 1000km and had little in it.

For comparison, this is how the pre-filter was at the last oil change, which was only 280km. This was then so clogged that it was not possible to clean and had to be replaced.

So now with the oil sludge gone I can do regular oil changes. And now switching to a slightly thicker oil.
After cleaning the pre-filter, it was to find a new oil filter and install them. The oil filter on these is, as I have previously mentioned, is a challenge as it is tight and must be careful that the pre-filter does not come off during installation. But got it done this time too.
I like the oil filters on these they are unlike anything else I have seen before.

So with new engine oil and filters it was time to start it again.

I hadn’t thought ahead to post so 1st journey already commenced.
I’ve got the trailer on, a few podcasts downloaded and off south today.

Vehicle 1 is 200 miles from home in one direction and vehicle 2 is 325 miles from home in the other.
Plan is to get the first one back into the warehouse at work by mid afternoon today then an early start tomorrow for part 2.

Breakfast was Shreddies and a brew with 2.  - Loo count is 0 but might have to keep legs crossed and I don’t like leaving car and trailer unattended at the services after losing a trailer before when only running in for 2 minutes once.

Left home 7am, came the A46 route to get on M5 so cut a few miles off but return journey will stay on M5 to M42 and M6.

Will update when I remember as I go along.
I had offers to accompany me but sometimes I just like to do my own thing after having to deal with many people in the week.

    Start mileage and the rig.

No it hasn't.  People have gone back and deleted long standing threads, or deleted all their posts in a thread, making bits of it unreadable.  We had a fairly significant thought process on ensuring that all photos remain visible on old threads as otherwise they become unreadable, the same should (IMO) be true of comments and posts.  When you remove parts of the conversation, it makes no sense.
Yes, posts need to be able to be edited for spelling and other errors for a while, but once it's been up for a bit, IMO it should stay.  It's "published" at that point.

Having some fun and games here trying to get a gas bottle delivered.  When I was in Kent I just called up Adam's Gas and they would deliver, no bother.  Up here in Scunny I've been going through the list of suppliers, getting further and further away, and nobody does delivery.  This is going to be a bit of an arse.  I've got one call back to do on Wednesday to a company in Sheffield that *might* be passing through, but that's the best lead I've managed.
Alternative suppliers in the Scunthorpe area that do delivery of Co2/Argon mig welding gas very welcome as suggestions.  The cash is waiting, I just need the gas.

EDIT: Never mind!  Mariner Gas in Scunthorpe delivering tomorrow.  Friendly, and made it very easy to do the order.

Home. Bang on 200miles. Pretty respectable economy. I did get above 40mpg until I got near home and decided to have some fun.

Need to figure why that airbag light is on. Code reader wasn't exactly clear what was the problem. Something about no communication with a Right Satellite module?

Not slow but then not a slouch if you know what I mean?
Drop a gear from 5th to 4th and you don't quite get a punch that you do in other cars.
It's damn smooth engine though and makes a lot of nice noises. There is a sound pipe from the airbox to the scuttle which gives you plenty of induction noise.
Can see why the 3.0 is preferred but there is nowt wrong with this engine

Just got to the chippy. 195 miles in and my first proper stop. I've not managed a single journey like that in a car for a long while! Steering started getting sticky around the centre about 80miles ago if you don't move the wheel for a bit. Not sure why it's done that. Giving it a wiggle sorts it for a bit 😄
Drives really well. Feels a bit skittish on the corners when pushed hard. Probably need to check the tyre pressures to make sure everything is spot on.
But yeah it's a cracking car.

For aslong as I can remember I've wanted to be directing my own path in business but never had the actual confidence to overcome huge self doubt and fears of failure, in 2021 when I nearly met with my mortality thanks to covid I remember hating that I'd played things safe as houses like a boring nobody and literally despite continued health maladies I feel that I've got a second run up at life , so I'm starting from nothing at 35 and want to get pushing forward with what is abit of a dream for me .
So basically my sister and I have teamed up to create a new garage/engineering works of which provides the usual bread and butter garage services and also more specialised work less commonly found like large manual machining capability and welding.
We're looking to stock up on a range of common classic parts too so that we can take on most project work without waiting on parts turning up in ebay etc albeit limited space prevents stocking a vast amount.
So far over the last 8 months !

Obligatory huge lathe brought back somewhat inappropriately

Company car brought down , inappropriately

Lathe electrical rebuild done because it was dangerous as hell, 415 through the soaked push buttons etc ,,horrible ! Once cleaned and generally setup it's been put to work straight away!

this s100 k series swap was quite aquite to drive, getting one to fit the earlier car isn't bolt in like with the estelle and rapid !

Cambelt snappage job on an iveco 2.3, lots of new valves and lapping required!

loads of work done, and loads more hopefully to come !
